This video runs through the different modulation effects in the Mods block on the Boss ME-80. The Boss ME-80 Multi-Effects processor increases the specifications of its predecessor the Boss ME-70, and combines key features from the flagship Boss GT-100, quality-wise the ME-80 could be classed as providing studio-level effects, however its as easy to operate as a stompbox.Under the bonnet is an array of ultra-realistic COSM amp models that will replicate some of the coolest amps in history, and the ME-80 even has up to 38 seconds of loop-style recording. It can run on 6 x AA batteries or an optional A/C mains adapter and there's also a USB audio/MIDI interface built-in whilst the ME-80 offers 8 simultaneous effects.
On the dashboard of the Boss ME-80, you'll find a pedalboard-style layout of gig-friendly footswitches,intuitive controls and an expression pedal that allows you to quickly dial-up your favourite tone and shape it in real-time. Live guitarists will admire the Boss ME-80, but so too will production boffins, thanks to free Boss Tone Studio software that allows deep-level editing on your computer, and gives a web connection to the gig-ready patches and endless guitar content at Boss Tone Central.

They've been out for a while now but I still love the ME-80. I think they are going to be a classic! They are easy to use, durable and sound amazing!
I have this one a few years and it always surprise me how good sounding this device is.
I have one. Still trying to work the thing out. £247 i paid for it 2nd hand! Walked into same store i got mine, and they'd one for £147! They said "there's a new version available" So wishing I'd waited. Still the money has been spent and now obviously not missed. This machine is The Best. Be who you want to be, by buying one. You'll not regret it. Guaranteed!!
I've had this pedal for a couple of months and its the best toy I've ever had,it replaces everything.Its a keeper for me!
0 learning curve as well,I had a multi effects unit a couple of years ago and it was complicated I literally gave it away.

The Chorus effect is only in mono. Whereas the chorus effect in Me 70 was In Stereo. I can hear the wideness. Do you know if there’s a way to set the chorus in the Me 80 to stereo? (Only the ‘cho+delay’ effect under the ‘Delay’ section is stereo)

Can you get the Detune effect from the boss ps-6 with this?
Is it possible to have say a phaser and tremolo activated at the same time? Or can you only use one effect from each group at a time?
+Scorch1494 probably , the me70 cant do it and if they made it possible in the me80 they would be telling us over and over in every demo
+Scorch1494 both effects are available in the Mod and the Eq\Fx2 sections. So yes you can use both at the same time in which ever order you please.

I'm really enjoying the ME80 but I find it hard to get good overdrive and distortion tones. They don't seem as good as the individual pedals they aim to replicate whereas the mod section is really good. Any tips for the OD section?
What about the overdriven amps. Are they any good. And are you playing though an amp.
@@accentontheoff I play through a Laney cub 12 or direct through a mixing desk. The pre amps are ok through the desk but not great through the amp. I just can't work out why the OD pedals aren't great.

Any idea what the issue is. Have you checked online tutorials. I presume you switch off the preamps while playing through the amp?
@@accentontheoff generally yes, or I use the clean preamp. The best option with the amp has been to go through the FX return but then I lose the preamp from my amp. It's easier to control volume this way.

I want to buy one so bad but I'm not sure how I could get it hooked up to work in my situation. I have only a modeler amp Vox Vt20x...I suppose I could put the amp on clean manual mode effects off and try. If it would work great then I'd buy right now. I also have a moxf6 workstation. I have it trs left and trs right each to behringer truth 2030a studio monitors. I wonder if I could plug the trs into the back of the me80? Like directly into the monitors. Anyone? Is that bad? Lol. Also I used 360xp into my pro media 2.1 powered klipsch media speakers as the Jack is same as small headphone input. It worked great.
I have a vox vt 20 amp aswell,
I just put it in tuner mode then plug the me 80 into the input with a standard guitar cable, and its fine mate 👍🏻
@@frashighflyingbirds Hey man thank you!! I didnt think about tuner mode! Hahah. I have been using my Boss gt1 in headphone out direct to my pc speakers. Omg! Killer sound. I'll try the amp today. I am now wanting a reverb ambient pedal like immerse or slo ...I wonder if it would go in front alone with the vox? Thank you sir

Mostafa Easa ... this is an assumption, but a very safe assumption. The ODs are digital. It's been fairly well understood that Boss now makes about nothing that's analog. Just about every single stompbox (if not every) and so forth, whether or not they were analog in the past are now digital ... however that's NO criticism of Boss ... I'm just saying.

It's a pretty cool device, but whatever combination you need to simulate the tones Robin Trower uses is apparently not achievable because I have not found a Trower patch for the ME-80 anywhere.

I have a Boss DS-2 Distortion pedal. I want to hook it up to the Boss ME-80. It would be great and much appreciated if you could help me step by step. I'm not too experienced with this. Could you possibly help me with this?
Because there's no effects loop on this unit, so this is the best way to hook up your DS2: the signal chain will be: your guitar > DS2 > ME80

You got by the harmonist quick, not so good with scales are we?? XD
My harmonist wasn't tracking in major thirds. That's why I found this vid and yes it is disappointing. For some reason today it's tracking properly. Despite having loads of pedalboards, this thing is handy, especially for solo looping, freeze, spacial effects to bug out acoustic open mics.
It's a shame those shifters still sound very bad. 15 years ago it was about the same.
+apinakapinastorba Yes, too bad it's phasor doesn't sound like a Mu-tron Phasor II. Can you imagine? The ME-80 would be worth the purchase price on that feature alone.

Thank you for showing us all the annoying tones that this makes! No one's going to buy this after seeing this video! Let me set it straight this is a awesome pedal hands down. Do not go by this video it can really be made to sound very awesome! And you will be very pleased no matter what type of music you do play! These are just noises and please don't put your thoughts when you think about ordering this unit. Trust me the overdrive the metalcore all sounds great! Total control of you're delay most of the other stuff you'll never use. Poor representation of this unit.
