This product may be almost 5 years old but it is just what I need, and it was this video that convinced me. I must have watched almost an hour's worth of related video and I was tired of hearing sounds and watching great guitarists! This video showed me how to use it. And, BTW, I currently only have one effects box, so this is a great next step. Many thanks!
This was the best purchase ever! For a multi fx, all in one solution pedal, live use. $150, used from a pawn shop. Sounds real good, reliable, built like a tank, wont break the bank and its compact! I have the Helix floor but I tend to use this unit more because it is so much fun to manually change settings with the knobs and mess around with the loop recorder.
I just ordered mine after watching many demos. Yours is the one I will be using as a guide once it arrives. You make sense of it all. Thank you very much!
OK this has convinced me that the ME-80 is the right multi-effects pedal for me. Not because of the loop demo (which was super-trippy) but because you can control so much manually, the way I want to do it.
GAK good day...may i just ask about boss me80 (or even at me70):if suppose there's a song uses 4 effects/modulation.(example stanza 1 is acoustic, refrain is flanger, chorus is distortion and bridge at tremolo) can we set me80/me70 accordingly? just like in stomp boxes, wherein we can switch on/off whatever effect we want to be heard...can we do this to boss multi fx? (like other simple multi fx like where there is "up" or "down" to select the effects, can we do this here? i hope you understand what i meant, cause i dont know how to xpain further) thanks a lot.
hey man i'm completely new to multi effect processors. so i have other pedals, and im thinking of buying boss me80 can i connect and use them together? like i have a looper and booster pedals id like to use them with the boss me80
this model has a very sensitive channel volume. in order to set the base volume i use titanium recorder to measure the sound outed. get everything set to the modules and you are set. excellent choice for this product. Tom searle from "Architects" uses this. in order to replicate the sounds is ultimately why i bought this. after having it i have created over 50 of my own sounds to create. love it. a bit on the $$$ side but totally worth it. i am always using octave with follow up delay.
It's a step backwards. The Reverb on the ME10 gives you R1 R2 H1 H2. And then pre delay, feedback, tone, volume. No amp models. It gives you both modes of the OD2 and DS2. Much more straight forward. Manual mode, analogue drives. Eq has got a swept mid. You can sweep through the wah by numbers too 1 - 100 using the wheel.
GAK - Just wanted to let you know that a ring modulator was on another old Boss multi-effects, the ME-33. Although it was a cheaply made unit - all plastic housing, one very cool feature was that you could use the foot controller to sweep through the frequencies of the ring modulator. If the ME-80 had that feature I wouldn't hesitate buying it. Not something I used a lot but a total blast to use with/for percussive parts and jams. Sounded great when playing with a drum circle/percussion section. The pedal control made it so versatile and easier than bending over to turn a little knob. Nowhere near as useful for my purposes without the foot controller function. :(
With the multi-overtone pedal, ring modulator, and foot controller for the ring mod it edges me toward getting one of these units. I had a cheap me-33 years ago, and the ring mod used in tandem with the foot controller was a blast! Especially when playing with multiple percussionists. Also the freeze, and capacity for multiple delays is a big plus. I do hope it has a harmonizer built in rather than just the 1 and 2 octave down settings... which are likely to be monophonic (drag). Great review though, thanks.
Just to be a total nerd, this isn't the first ring modulator on a Boss unit; the ME-8 had a ring modulator and an intelligent ring modulator, both drivable by an external expression pedal on the 1990s Boss ME-8, which was an outstanding unit.
Just got mine & the amp sounds are much improved imo. Plus some of the effect are improved as well. The distortion seem a bit less digitally &^ scratchy than the 70. Seems like a good step forward.
Was more interested in listening to amp sounds than the weird effects you focused on. I have the ME-70 and heard the amps were completely re-done for this unit. Was really interested in the difference in amps. Anyone A/B the amps from the ME 70 and 80?
This pedal has the best delay to never hit the market- Cho + Delay. The volume control on this is also quite impressive. The ME-70 was my College workhorse. I currently play a Headrush, but still use it at times. Really shines in an FX loop.
I have a question. With my current set up I run both a Bluesdriver and DS-1 at the same time to get a nice heavy (but not sizzly) distortion. If I bought an ME-80 could I put a Bluesdriver and DS-1 on the same banked channel? Or can I only have one OD/Dist pedal on each channel?
I am Planning for a Digital Multi Effects. two on my List: BOSS ME-80 or The LINE6 POD HD series. i am confused as to whether which one would be the best choice for me. Sound wise, i came to read HD series knocks out the ME 80 (don't know if that's true) But i also read the HD series is more meant for Recording session and not for Live play and the ME series is for Live play. My main and Only emphasize is LIVE PLAY & LIVE GIGS . I need it only for that. could someone kindly shed some light! thank you.
I had ME-70, and it works great straight into the preamp, given that you turned the preamp modeling on the effect off. I put it in many amps before and I don't have any problems (unlike the other multi-effect unit I had). On ME-70, the preamp modelling section has EQ section, so instead of turned it off entirely, you could change it to EQ. I guess ME-80 also have this mode on the preamp section as well. I sold my ME-70 last year, planned to get GT-100. Maybe I reconsider getting ME-80 instead.
The only demo I saw so far that created a decent overdriven distortion sound… Maybe because he has it on (clean) for preamp, And just using the overdrive channel? The others I’ve seen, must be over processed or just not mixed well.
Can this be connected directly to a PA for live gigs? The guitar running to the Boss and to the PA directly without going through an amp that is. Thanks
Great Demo!....I have a question, with that pedalboard can i save some own patches with different volume? I mean for example, in one channel have a rythm distortion and then in another channel have a lead distortion with a higher volume for solos, without having to play with the volume pedal? Thanx man! and sorry for my english
I bought the ME-80 and it's great like using the ME-70 but with more effects and better control. The control pedal in User mod is fantastic,it adds more effects to your already saved ones and you can turn it on or off.The scroll up and down pedals are great no extra pedal needed to change banks. Now I have the ME-80 on one board and the ME-70 on another board. The ME-80 is the one to get simple.light, and sounds remarkably good.
i have a question. @ 8:04 how did you switch from 4 to 3 without the CTL button lit up, even you have it programed? how did you set up to make it like that?
Hi Guys, Does anyone know how to keep the volume levels the same when setting a different patch or preset? Im finding that every unique patch or preset i assign to each pedal (memory mode) the volume levels arent the same this obviously will be a problem when gigging. Cheers
I´m very into the ring mod of the ME50 version! Can the ring mod be used with the expression pedal like the ME50? ..don´t see any ring mod listed next to the pedal! :(
If I am in manual mode and just have the Slow Gear effect on, if I turn the middle knob to 99 I hardly get any sound. Is this a fault or am I not understanding?
HELP needed. I'm trying to phrase loop my own patches. I cant work it out. I can phrase loop in manual mode but not my own saved phrase......Any Ideas, ANYONE....
they are pretty much the same sound wise.. but its lot east to program patches on me 80 and extra foot switches help if you are a lead guitar player in a live situation
I'd like to know if the pedal can be placed before delay to do swells, if there is a NS-2 somewhere in it, and if delay divisions ex. quater notes and dotted eights can be alternatively selected via CTL pedal ? :-) (looking for something smart in Worship setting).
I don't understand people who say this unit sounds bad, or sounds like a toy. You don't need a $3000 digital modeler to sound good. it seems there are too many people who don't do the unit justice because they either don't know how to program good tones or simply overuse the effects.
hey thanks for the demo......i need ur help im really confused between zoom g9.2tt and the boss me-80...can u tell which is the better one it'll be helpful thanks
Hi, i have a question, i bought the me 80, but i have an squire, and i would like to buy other guitar. i dont know which one you can recomend between, fender jaguar, or epiphone or Telecaster Thinline? what do you think?, which one would be better? thank u! and, how can i play with track and record it?
Pablo Muller If you want a different guitar all together, get something with humbuckers. Recording-wise, take the headphone out into a computer and record in a DAW.
I`m using two amps, exactly the same amps, and I tried flanger, no panning effect. It doesn`t have any other panning effect, so...................what`s the meaning of having two outs for two amps, if there is no stereo modeling, or other left to right switching effect, ............... If anybody have the key to do it, i will appreciate some help, but i start thinking it`s one point against this machine. Even though i love the manual mode and other features like the duplicated modeling effects, and other bunch of things. May be only my unit, i don`t know. But if you give a look to the list of effects, there is no stereo chorus, flanger, or pan, or pan delay, or ping-pong delay. That is the point. I think it`s not stereo at all.
When you play as many shows as I do with different artist and songs you need to be able to get to the sound quickly. The ME-70 does that very well with the user mods.I play Oldies R&B and there are so many sounds. The ME-80 seems to be a little more complex and you don't need complex on stage you need direct. The only negative I see is they should have stayed with the Black color and kept the foot switch connection.I'll stick with the ME-70 for now but it is a boss product and boss rocks.Sema'j

the piece at the end you made is quite inventive. Im impressed.
Much better review than the Andertons one !!!
But not so funny🤦♂️
OK this has convinced me that the ME-80 is the right multi-effects pedal for me. Not because of the loop demo (which was super-trippy) but because you can control so much manually, the way I want to do it.
The most proper demo I've seen recently. Thank you!
No worries! Glad you like it.

***** The ME80 can do what you have described.
Excellent a well thought out pedal overview! Thank you!
Best demo I have seen on this. I bought one about a month ago. Still learning some things it will do. Thanks for the demo.
best review/explanation of this i found! Thanks so much!
NOW I have the ME-80 on both my boards. The small board is for clubs and small venues the Big board is for concerts and festivals.TOTALLY SATISFIED
hey man i'm completely new to multi effect processors. so i have other pedals, and im thinking of buying boss me80

I gave my Boss ME-80 away!...to a young lad to play with!...and went back to the ME50 which is the best of all the others!...
This pedal has great features.

Thanks Matt just bought one great demo
The amp modeling sounds great.
what is that that is played at 12:45

It's unbelievable
I know guitar.
Tell me it's not unbelievable.
I own a lot of things. This great.
Nice demo, mate!
Should I get this or individual pedals?
Just to be a total nerd, this isn't the first ring modulator on a Boss unit; the ME-8 had a ring modulator and an intelligent ring modulator, both drivable by an external expression pedal on the 1990s Boss ME-8, which was an outstanding unit.

Just got mine & the amp sounds are much improved imo. Plus some of the effect are improved as well. The distortion seem a bit less digitally &^ scratchy than the 70. Seems like a good step forward.
I own one of these pedals and you know how to use it better than I do lol. Nice review man!
very nice

Anyone A/B the amps from the ME 70 and 80?
can i put a microphone on this boss me-80 and looping my voice?
+YOUSSEF HMAIDI (Moroccantverwih) Thinking the same here.. Please respond this question! Can this Loop the microphone input?
hi..i did not understood if the me 80 is straight in the amp or you if you are using it in the fx loop
cool soon m buying one ... thanks +GAK
I’m really getting one now💚💚💚🆒
What good is a ring modulation?
Who had it first? You or Andertons? You both uploaded the demo on the same day
Definitely us. First!
This pedal has the best delay to never hit the market- Cho + Delay. The volume control on this is also quite impressive. The ME-70 was my College workhorse.

PLEASE MAKE A BASS VERSION!!!! I will buy it the DAY it comes out!!
Boss ME-50B
I own 3 board. 8 amps. And this amazing
I am Planning for a Digital Multi Effects. two on my List:
BOSS ME-80 or The LINE6 POD HD series.

My main and Only emphasize is LIVE PLAY & LIVE GIGS . I need it only for that.
could someone kindly shed some light! thank you.
I have a line 6 POD confusing but worth it
But the ME 80 is probably better live but I don’t have one so dunno
God, I love fuzz.
but..what's the matter to use it straight with the pre amp?..it should be great in the fx loop as the gt 10..and it will be maybe easier to use
I had ME-70, and it works great straight into the preamp, given that you turned the preamp modeling on the effect off. I put it in many amps before and I don't have any problems (unlike the other multi-effect unit I had).

I sold my ME-70 last year, planned to get GT-100. Maybe I reconsider getting ME-80 instead.
Does this have a looper
they may have nailed it this time
like this one!
Thanks
Hey! It can indeed. Just switch on the amp simulation and you're all good.
GAK is it possibile to run it both to amp and pa?
Angelo Neri use a stereo direct input box - that way you can run xlr cables to the board and the 1/4 inch cables to the amp
Great Demo!....I have a question, with that pedalboard can i save some own patches with different volume? I mean for example, in one channel have a rythm distortion and then in another channel have a lead distortion with a higher volume for solos, without having to play with the volume pedal? Thanx man! and sorry for my english
Hey. You can indeed do that. You would do it by changing the patch volume and saving it. The next time you recall it, it will be the same volume.
The ME-80 is the one to get simple.light, and sounds remarkably good.
this might've been a good vid if the cam didn't go out of focus at 6:20
Wasn’t there a ring on the SE70 and GT6?
Didn't the GT-5 back then have a ring modulator?
Can you save the loops that you make?
I have one of this and I personally think that the reverb sounds incredibly metallic and unnatural. Anyone else agre?
Is this like the GT-8?
Can I use this completely without an amp? Just me, my guitar and the ME-80?
Yes, by using headphones such all multieffects!
Yep, you can definetly use headphones. Sounds nice without an amp.
Can you get some nice whammy sounds out of this? Im talking Morello-style-octave-shifting expression pedal stuff. If it does, Im getting it!
May I knows Brand and the name of the white strat type guitar on your right hand in the the background.
any chance of bypassing the preamp?
Bebe Na Vole yea u can unable it
What's the name of the intro song of this video
i have a question. @ 8:04 how did you switch from 4 to 3 without the CTL button lit up, even you have it programed? how did you set up to make it like that?
I just bought a hand wired deluxe reverb
Can i set different pre-sets on different banks..??
Could I completely ignore the amp sims/distortion and somehow run it into the front and fx loop of the amp?
Same question For the Boss ve 8 what is best to use
does the delay have "tap" tempo?
It does indeed!
Where is it exactly going to be? At the expression pedal?
It's on the same switch as the delay on/off. You go to TEMPO delay and hold down the footswitch to active tap mode.
Can this pedal be used with a 15 watt amp?
Yes, you can use it in any amp :)
Sure. It can be used with any amp, or with headphones, or straight in to a PA!
GAK
Thanks! and can you use the usb to record with your computer?
Yeah the usb port its to record, and also if you have an interface you can use the amp outputs and use them on the interface
Sergio Vallina
but then you should put a small (blind) jack into the headphone output so the speaker simulation comes in ;)
anybody know why when you use the small aux in jack the effects don't work whats the aux in for the manual doesn't give much info away.
2nd request What amps and mixers do u use here for this ME80
"... I'll be releasing this track on iTunes for $1.99 starting Friday..."
Hi Guys, Does anyone know how to keep the volume levels the same when setting a different patch or preset? Im finding that every unique patch or preset i assign to each pedal (memory mode) the volume levels arent the same this obviously will be a problem when gigging. Cheers
+Maxmo let me know if you find out buddy!
I own almost everything.
Does memory mode stores the pedal fx? If I change banks, does the pedal fx changes too?
does it can make dotted 8 delay?
Nice modulation, reverb and delays. Sadly as gain levels rise it gets disappointing.
The pitch shift is useless in ME-80. It has a tremolo sort of effect coming from it. Makes the sound useless.
does this work with a bass guitar? i'm not asking if it would work well, but does it work?
It does indeed. A lot of the effects won't be applicable, but some will sound great.
I´m very into the ring mod of the ME50 version! Can the ring mod be used with the expression pedal like the ME50?
..don´t see any ring mod listed next to the pedal! :(
Can this pedal loop?
It can indeed. It will loop for up to 38 seconds.
QUESTION: What's your preference? Zoom G5n or Boss ME- 80.
The GT100 just got price dropped at xmas, now we see why, this is a more logical tool to use with knobs and no menus to scroll, looks ok
If I am in manual mode and just have the Slow Gear effect on, if I turn the middle knob to 99 I hardly get any sound. Is this a fault or am I not understanding?
How "noisy" is this pedal?
Not noisy at all. You could easily use it as part of a larger pedalboard.
Hi great preview vid. Is it a USB interface ? Do you just plug this into ur pc with a usb and record, or do u need a USB soundcard ? Thx
HELP needed. I'm trying to phrase loop my own patches. I cant work it out. I can phrase loop in manual mode but not my own saved phrase......Any Ideas, ANYONE....
I feel stupid as i got the Boss ME-70 for Christmas :(
help! I do not know whether to buy the ME25 or ME80 , are $ 100 difference , is it worth ?
they are pretty much the same sound wise..
but its lot east to program patches on me 80
and extra foot switches help if you are a lead guitar player in a live situation
Does it have soundtrack itself if so how to operate it?
I have this boss and it sounds great on amp but in mixer in line its sound teribble, can anyone help me ?? :/
davit cherkezishvili same here
davit cherkezishvili get a smaller amp with a headphone out, hen plug an aux cord into the headphone jack into a microphone jack.
I'd like to know if the pedal can be placed before delay to do swells, if there is a NS-2 somewhere in it, and if delay divisions ex. quater notes and dotted eights can be alternatively selected via CTL pedal ? :-) (looking for something smart in Worship setting).
can i make dotted eight delays quarter delays etc?
plus is the tap tempo effective for this?
I own this
can i use korg ax3000g power supply for me 80?
How many effect can use on me 80 simultaneously..?
Please help me which one I should buy among the Zoom G5n & Boss Me-80..?
I don't understand people who say this unit sounds bad, or sounds like a toy. You don't need a $3000 digital modeler to sound good. it seems there are too many people who don't do the unit justice because they either don't know how to program good tones or simply overuse the effects.
hey thanks for the demo......i need ur help im really confused between zoom g9.2tt and the boss me-80...can u tell which is the better one it'll be helpful thanks
Personally, I'd go for the ME-80. The effects are a bit more up to date, and it has an excellent editor in the Tone Studio software.
You have no idea what I have.
the boss psa 120 (option from the boss website) isn't available in my country. what if I use the boss psa 230, is it safe??
thanks ;)
Hey! If you live in a country that uses 230v you need the PSA230 anyway.
GAK aha I just understand, thank you very much :)
Hi, i have a question, i bought the me 80, but i have an squire, and i would like to buy other guitar. i dont know which one you can recomend between, fender jaguar, or epiphone or Telecaster Thinline? what do you think?, which one would be better?
