Being a noob, this sounds interesting. I have a small amp with modeling amp capability (yamaha) and was thinking about adding a multi effect. Would you rather buy this or a smaller and more modern pedalboard like mooer ge200 or ampero hotone? Having already the amp modeling I thought it would be useless to have two devices doing the same stuff, and perhaps the boss has better effects. Could you share some wisdom? 😁 Keep up the great job!
Great question man! The BOSS pedal will give you the best results possible really and from a well established company. The fact is, the amp simulation can be turned off on the BOSS as well so that you could still use it solely as a pedalboard without needing to “double up” on sims.
Sure it has alot of potential. I am going to probably buy in the future the GX-100 . I was offered a good deal 500 + 10.00 shipping new in the box. Normally I would jump on it. I am not fincially comfortable buying anything until I thin the heard-Ya the old cliche.
In my view, you cannot use ME-80 without using its speaker emulation. The sound is too fake and lacks grit. The worst part is, you cannot switch the speak simulation off. Hence, with a tube amp, you can only this in FX loop section.
6stringgunner Awesome! Remember, if you use the link provided below the video you can purchase it directly from boss and I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Wink wink

In terms of ergonomics maybe the best multi ever. Got a GT-1 that I believe has a more modern sound engine (GT-100?). But I regret sometimes I didn't pay the €70 extra.
I still wanted an update for this rather then those awful touchscreen in gx. This easily the best multifx for live. Even when you don't have much time for soundcheck.

Hi, thank you for this very helpful video. I just bought an me 80 new a month ago and i normally play with a lot of distortion gain (similar to the 80s metal preset) but whenever i throw in distortion or overdrive to get that metal sound i get a very loud buzzing whenever the guitar is idle. i've tried different guitars and different amps and even using the studio to go right into my DAW but I can't shake this buzz. is this just a by-product of the pedalboard's high gain functions? Any advice to help remedy this to clean up the buzz? Thank you.

Wow some of those sounds were lush. I’ve had ME50 for years and some nice delays and mods but it’s hard to dial in good distortion without the digital sound betrayals, sounds like the ME80 can suffer same issues BUT has lots more functionality and options for doubling up on chorus and flanger which was impossible on ME50. I’ve never messed around online but the Boss software looks really good. Thanks for the demonstration…I may well get one to replace the ME50.

Hi, what’s the best way to record this into the computer in your opinion. Some people are suggesting IR devices and such, some are saying use a DI box, some are saying USB of course, some are saying line outs. I need a recorded sound that’s at least semi professional in terms of quality. I am this close to pulling the trigger on this device and computer recording is the only variable I need to factor in. Any perspective would be welcome. Thanks!
I always use the USB out unless I am putting a mic on the cab and running it into an amp. Honestly, the usb is really your best bet! 24-bit audio!
@@Homestudiosimplifed Missed this somehow. Thanks!
Hi everyone. where can i download boss tone studio for me 80? this is not on the site
bosstonecentral.com/liveset/category/me-80/
@@Homestudiosimplifed there are only sets, but not the studio itself.
Hmmm... let me see if I can find you a link.
@@Homestudiosimplifed maybe it's in the country? when i open the bts download page i have empty, only drivers. can you send me this archive?
@@ОлегЧумаков-й3м does this one work? bosstonecentral.com
can I connect an external distortion pedal to it ? Will that make sense?
Sure can!
@@Homestudiosimplifed thanks If I am going to compensate for the weak points of this multi -effect ( I suppose distortion issue) do you suggest any pedal? Sorry I am beginner :)
The Wampler Triumph is the best sounding most affordable out there!
@@Homestudiosimplifed thanks that is overdrive , I mean distortion
Love my Me-80, couldn't ask for more. The only annoying issue i have is with the software. When exploring the patches in the TS library i can only get a few of them working...really strange. Can anyone help me out pls!?
Hmmm... I’ve not really had a lot of issues with it.
Strange isn't it. When i select those patches i can see the settings changing on my ME80 but i don't hear the sound, nor can i save them to the unit itself. Manual mode and all other functions are working perfectly.
@@dk2428 have you updated your firmware?
@@Homestudiosimplifed Yes, i did. I've finally found the issue! A factory reset solved my problem! Good times :-)
If it wasn't a Boss, I would be skeptical of sound quality but Boss seems to have Honor and Dedication behind their superb effects products. For only the cost of three pedals, well, I would buy it if I needed something like this.
My thoughts exactly!
Very good review, the BOSS ME-80 seems to have a lot of bang for the buck.
roderickjamesmoney thanks man! What’s your favorite feature?
@@Homestudiosimplifed the amount of tweakable things. You can literally make it sound how ever you want, take it any where, and do whatever you want. All for such a good price. This proves that old doesn’t mean bad. In my opinion, this is one of the neatest things money can buy. Although I don’t buy many things.
When it comes to guirtar gear im pretty uneducated on it, could i take this and use it as i would a distortion pedal or a chorus pedal and plug it in series between my guirtar and amp or is that not how it works
Yes sir!
Does it have a noise gate?
I believe so...
@@Homestudiosimplifed cool I'm guessing you probably have to hold down a foot button or something and use another knob
Is there anyway to use memory bank patches w the looper? Or do you have to be in man mode to use looper
Christian Lamers I believe you can do it either way
Being a noob, this sounds interesting.
If you already own and use one of these go to ~19 minutes and listen to what he's doing. I can't wait to play with these settings.
Does anyone know if it will work with the katana mk2 50W?
Absolutely!
is the pedal for volume only or can it be wah?
It can be used as both!
Wah is awesome.
@@Homestudiosimplifed Thanks for the info!
Sure it has alot of potential. I am going to probably buy in the future the GX-100 . I was offered a good deal 500 + 10.00 shipping new in the box. Normally I would jump on it. I am not fincially comfortable buying anything until I thin the heard-Ya the old cliche.
GAS is real
Can we do "WAH" effect on ME80?
Absolutely! Just simply press the pedal down hard enough to hear a small click and BOOM you’re in WAH world!
@@Homestudiosimplifed nice. Thanks for info.
In my view, you cannot use ME-80 without using its speaker emulation. The sound is too fake and lacks grit. The worst part is, you cannot switch the speak simulation off. Hence, with a tube amp, you can only this in FX loop section.
It does have its setbacks, however it so valuable!
Put a dummy plug in the headphone jack. Turns on speaker emulation.
Matt Larsen there’s a thought!
Does the absence of cab sims on this hinder the home studio recordist.
I don’t believe so
@@Homestudiosimplifed K thanks.
Where do you find most of your patches? Tone central or elsewhere?
Tone central
i had an me 50. played a number of shows with it. super easy to use and set up!
ROSEGOLD I love my ME-50 as well!
I'm going to check out Sweetwater. I like what I've seen and heard. Thanks for the demo. AWESOME 👍😁!

Will do 👍😁!!! Have a great week.
Do you purposely match your socks with the mood of each patch? 😃 Great review....The ME80 has been my wheelhouse for sometime now. My individual pedals hardly see the light of day anymore.
For this video... yes! 😂 I had some troll comment on my socks on my last pedal review of the ME-50. So... this was my response.
Been playing for 20 years and have always played metal and have always stayed current with my sound. This thing is great for metalcore.deathcore.djent.slam.harscore.and straight up death metal. I run one through a berringer eq 700 and love it. Just my opinion.
Nice!
Really useful man... great channel to find. Will subscribe before I leave... Regards UK!
Thank you much man!
In terms of ergonomics maybe the best multi ever. Got a GT-1 that I believe has a more modern sound engine (GT-100?). But I regret sometimes I didn't pay the €70 extra.
I use an me 70 for night pracitce and looking nice effect vatiatoons
What adapter is he compatible?
Usb cable?
Nice review!
I'm confused between boss me80 and zoom g5n
Choices, choices... I would lean more toward BOSS as I feel the sounds are more vetted.
I still wanted an update for this rather then those awful touchscreen in gx.
This easily the best multifx for live.
Even when you don't have much time for soundcheck.
Nice demo thanks
i just bought the me 50 a friend is a pro and that what he uses plugging through the amp u cant beat sound of fender blues junior 4 i am old school for sound blues take care all stay safe
bro what adapter are you using?
Usb cable...
Does it steal amp tone?
If you turn off the onboard amp settings then no.
Excellent presentation!
Thank you!
Thank you.
Turn the gain down or enable the noise suppression
@@Homestudiosimplifed thank you. if im playing live with an amp, should i even mess with the pre-amp settings or is it best to just bypass and use the EQ on the physical amp?
Does the company have a good history of making software issues easy for dummies? I love the idea of this toy, but I'm afraid I don't have the intelligence and patience to get it to work with my MacBook Pro and Garageband. I have a bad history. Never got my Mbox and protools to work and wasted a ton of money. I don't want to waste money if I'm not smart enough to use this. HELP? Any advice? Should I just go for a simple interface for my electric violin, or is there hope all this fun stuff will work for me.
I feel it is very intuitive. However, everyone’s learning curve may be different.
If you ever have questions about anything, I do offer Skype sessions.
Thank you so much for your work.
It's amazing.
You gave me a great feel.
Please does this unit have an "Aux inc port?
Yes it certainly does. It’s an aux out
Wow some of those sounds were lush.
Awesome man! If you do please use my link. At no extra cost to you, it will help support the channel!

Matt Larsen hahaha
The sounds are all just too delicious 😋

This is how guitars REALLY sound when you run them into a computer, regardless of what you use, be them amp simulators, cabinet simulators or whatever. Nice job. This shows the true sound of a guitar running into a computer, which is to say, not very good.
I love My ME-80...so do my harmonicas. My harmonicas miss my DOD Tec-8 (another great multiple effect pedal) but soon had to except the hardware change. Me and my band are bound by blood! It is easier than a bunch of small pedals but the ME-80 can reduce having to move a bunch of peds. If you play out, most of the chicks are drunk enough that even if sober they couldn't tell a ped from a calculator (girls are pretty good with phones so don't try telling her it is one of those)!
Yeah this thing is a beast! I still haven’t fully grasped all it can do either.
Why aren’t all the big companies putting their great sounds into this format along side the big digital units. There’s definitely a market out there
Sometimes I think it’s all about making money for themselves. (Hoarding sounds or information)
@@Homestudiosimplifed I think you may be right
The Boss ME-80 comes with a collection of funny socks 😁👍
Sadly. No. I had to build my sock collection up to meet the standards of the board. But now I can get better tones than ever!
Your socks are the best part of this video
I take a lot of pride in my sock choice. Thanks for noticing the details.
Exactly the thing that I don’t like about multi FX units! They always have 1 million totally unusable ethereal effects that sound terrible and maybe one or two that sound decent. They’re good for scrolling through all the crazy sounds for some ADD entertainment. I’d rather have two or three really good sounds from pedals or amps than 1000 terrible ones from a multifx
Think of them as a convenience tool. Quantity and form factor over quality
Me 80: 8 switches + pedal !!! Win tru years formula.
Yea!
