So far the best Boss ME-80 review on RUclips. Thanks for such a wonderful work.

I have owned the ME 6 and the ME 8 and loved both. The boss built in compressor and delays are killer. Mainly this type of unit is so easy to take out of your gig back slap it down plug in and play. All my sounds are pre-set ready to go anywhere anytime. I also do session work and used both units for years. People have raved about my sound and tone. I can make slight eq adjustments from my amp and I am off. Just ordered this one cant wait to dig in

I think I just like how his socks change from the different expression pedal uses.

Great review... Hugely underrated multipedalboard... Got mine a few years ago and soundwise its only gets better when u figure out how it works... Solid, no blabla menu with 10k submenues , no straight up jack in rock on. Love it!! 😀

I have bought ME-80 2-3 months ago and only now I start to really understand how it works. First i've had too much feedback and i didn't know how to set it right for my semi-hollow body guitar. After learning more about the settings, I finally started to obtain some awsome tones. And I'm still learning, this thing îs great.

I just switched back to my ME-70 after a year of using a Headrush. The ‘Cho + Delay’ is the wet dream of this pedal. The Uni-V is smooth as surprisingly smooth as silk considering the Flanger, Phaser and Rotary are all similarly in your face.
    May get the Me-80.

The saving grace of this unit is the manual mode, great for beginners new to efx, great for seasoned players needing sounds quick and easy.

Terrific review very helpful. I love some of the tones you have created. I am waiting for my BOSS ME-80 to arrive. I am hoping to simplify my live stage set up to change between various effects and to find a great edgy blues rhythm tone and lead boost . Still a bit confused about dedicating the patches.Cheers

Use a mini stereo jack in the headphones in. It will turn the Cab Sim on.

I've owned a ME-30, but gave it to one of my granddaughters.
I bought a ME50, but gave it to another granddaughter that lives out of town
I had bought the ME50 for me because it has less items that I will never use.
I have nice pedals that I will call my front line including either a vox or more likely a crybaby.
So my Little Alligator takes up too much space and is a one trick pony that I rarely use. The Me 50 solves that even though it is much larger if offer many more options Like the variety of overdrive/distortion and a fairly extensive modulation unit.
So I don't want the Amp/cab options which can be turned off, and not interested in the Presets.
I want the manual setting for back ground ambience and an occasional volume control.
This will free up much of my current board.
The ME30 wasn't readily available to tweak without going into edit mode, whereas the ME50 has knobs, much like the ME80 which would be my second choice. It just has too much stuff on it that I would never use.
Of course, If I found a good deal on an 80, I could trade my granddaughter for the 50 that I paid $100 for.

    Dear Mr of Mss BOSS.
We all here TRULY love your product, the magnificent BOSS ME80. But we can t deny the feeling being a little left out. With the GT100 and the GE100 being out some time now, it s time for the BOSS ME100 to make its appearance!
Of course it will profit from the improved COSM or whatever sound engine of the 100/1000 range, will have four parameters per pedal, will have a 15 mins multi track looper seperate from the delay pedal and maybe have some drum and bass patters on board.
Ah. Mr or Ms BOSS. Pld do. We will ALL immediately purchase this ultimate stop box like multi effect wonder!!! ❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😊😊😊

I have this and I have somehow made some of my favorite sounds ever. Can I run a TC Electeonic G-Major 2 through this? And just use the pre-amp from the ME-80?
    Thank you

Cool review ! I'm thinking of buying it, but i'm wondering if it should be plugged into direct or in the loop. (I already have some pedals, which are in direct or in the loop.) my main use will be for the modulation effects and the whammy. Thanks for your help !

    • @bluesdude1194
      @bluesdude1194 3 года назад

I believe if you plug in direct it cancels out the amps eq etc, if you plug it in the effects loop you can use the amps eq etc.

    • @jeffrey.a.hanson
      @jeffrey.a.hanson Год назад

I’ve done both. Direct, use the EQ in the preamp and distortion pedals are fair game. If you have favorite Drive pedals then put this in the loop, with OD section set to boost and plug your guitar and pedals into front of the amp.
Both work. Plugging direct to the FX in is fine as well if you really don’t like the character of your amp.

Hi, I've had this part for two years.
    I didn't use the looper because I have a Boss RC500.
    My experiences are the following:
Forget the presets, the suggestions in the software are also not suitable.
    Why?
Because you have to find your own sounds.
And that works very well with the ME80.
Maybe look at a few RUclipss about effects and then slowly develop the sounds for your guitar.
Then your ME80 is your friend.
Take your time, it's a lot of fun to develop your own sounds bit by bit.
The ME80 is a great part for that.
    Have fun
    Werner

Ever since the horrors of my first Digitech multi-fx back in 2003, I’ve determined presets must be an ‘intern’ job. No other explanation.

    • @tyreeriggins3

Depends on the quality of batteries you buy and how often you play. I suggest buying an adapter for less than $10

Haha, thanks! I have 3 other BOSS units and tons of adapters.
But I meant continuously, there must be some rough time specification on how long one set of batteries last.

    • @ChickenThug55

Should last a gig or two/ 7hrs. Not bad at all especially if used for traveling to other countries to bypass requiring different power converter plugs.

I bought the ME-80 and to me nothing in the OD section is really worth a damn. However, if you add a good dirt pedal to the chain, the other effects are quite nice. YMMV of course, but that was a big miss on their part as far as I'm concerned.
