Great general tuition into achieving any tone I want from the ground up. The Boss ME-80 is a great addition for my set up and saves daisy chaining multiple FX pedals and stomp boxes. I'm wanting to use it with my Boss RC-600 looper and am figuring out which order to chain them.
I like this somewhat old school interface! ...Not fussing with menu screens and endless scrolling! I am NOT knocking other products...But this format is geared towards a certain player and it sounds great!!! Laid out like pedals is awesome!!! Great video!!!
Thank you, this was really helpful and got me in the ballpark quickly. It only took a bit more tweaking to get the ME-80 sounding very similar to the tone I get from my tube Marshall amps.
Nice sounds man! I actually just got one of these and I'm already loving it. Haven't used something like this in MANY years and I am enjoying being back in a device like this. I have several boards armed with pedals, but somehow, this just seems more fun. And, sounds just as good. Thanks for the info!
@RickordProductions just a question: is there a way on the me80 to save a bank, but when I have said bank chosen, to put fx on/off it on the fly? Like stepping on and off an external single pedal without switching the bank?
Great video. Just got my ME-80 with a Katana MKII 100. A little redundant but I like I can take my board, headphones and guitar on the back porch and play 😊. Also, I’m an 80’s metal head lol
I dig it man. I've been using one for a couple years. That dummy plug thing was buried in the manual I heard and found it. Makes a difference. I keep my pro media 2.1 PC speakers plugged in for messing around but I turn that down and go direct from the board to scarlet solo 2nd gen interface into reaper. I get messing around with a few sounds and sometimes I notice the preamps do not play well over each other often will sound brittle even with the dummy plug. Not sure what I'm doing when that happens. Probably just being new and not practicing diving into the board enough. But I do love it. It's all I have and to have only that is better than many scenarios a I have all the effects. I might look into a cab emulator or sim box or preamp pedal to run in front of the me80. Built like a tank too. Hahah. I do look at some new stuff now but man things are outrageous. Hahaha.
On my old crappy Zoom multi effects pedal, I can use the expression pedal to add or remove the delay for instance, can this pedal do that? Like I'm chugging along and now it's time to rip a solo so I fade in the delay smoothly instead of switching from stompy 1 over to stompy 2 which sometimes can be jarring.
As far as voicing goes I am using a flat response but it’s all plugged into a pa mixing board going into powered speakers. I’m running everything the way I do live…plugging it to front of house.
@@SteveDunnBand It’s actually plugged into a Blackstar Amped 1 which is a pedal amp with a built in DI out that’s running an XLR straight to the sound board.
@RickordProductions cool. I'll try running it through my Katana, then DI to the board. Thanks for the video, our taste in 80s metal rhythm tone is very similar 👌

Thanks for all your help with the tones!! Loving the boss me 80..
Switched my hookup to the power amp in on the katana amp! Game changer sounds awesome!
Really helpful walkthrough and well done video. I've been struggling to build a tone like this and you helped a lot!
That was a great and easy to follow on how to dial up a great tone . Subscribed!!

Thanks for the great explanation. This thing is a little overwhelming, but you made it easy to adjust. It sounds good now!!

Dude!!! Great video!! I bought my me 80 a few years ago, and mainly use it for my clean channel, but you nailed it with the tone on this!!
Thanks! Glad you’re digging it. 🤘🏼

I’ve got the same exact gear lol, my sound is kinda awful though.
Cool vid. I really like my ME80 and this helps exploring it more, thank you👍👍👍
Just got one of these, i run it in a power amp with a 4x12 cabinet, sounds amazing!
So you just go out mono into the poweramp and then into the cab, right?

Great vid! Thanks for sharing your setting.
Perfect! I probably use my me80 as much as an axfx2

Sounds sick ,, feel like getting the me-90

Thanks for sharing this, great video.
awsome tone bravo!
+1 for 80's Hard Rock / Metal! Great overview. Subscribed. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Thank you for this
To add a leader section without losing volume, how could I do it? Just bought a B-ME80 and I'm new to this
🤘🤘thank you sir for sharing the setting👍👍🤘🤘
Great video braddah 🤙🏝️I’ve had mine for about seven years haven’t been able to find a good how to video mahalo from Hawaii
Hi can you use this into a FRFR cabinet? I have the 5150 iconic amp set up with a 4x12 cabinet but i think that would sound great in a FRFR as well.
As far as voicing goes I am using a flat response but it’s all plugged into a pa mixing board going into powered speakers. I’m running everything the way I do live…plugging it to front of house.
thank you so much for this
Sounds great!! Is this plugged straight
To the soundboard?
@@SteveDunnBand It’s actually plugged into a Blackstar Amped 1 which is a pedal amp with a built in DI out that’s running an XLR straight to the sound board.
What is your pedalboard?
great video!
Also does it let you pick certain amps or your just using the pre amp embedded?
What amp would be great to pair with the ME-80? I'm considering getting this pedal, and I need to get an amp.
Best use it with a good clean amp or run it straight to a power amp like in the FX Loop and bypass the preamp because the ME80 has a dedicated preamp.
What guitar? What pickups?
Those can make a huge difference in finding the right tone.
Good question. I think I was using my Ibanez Jem Jr. which still has all the factory parts installed.
Sounds great! What amp are you going into?
Blackstar Amped 1 and running the DI from the amp straight to a PA mixer. It sounds just as good if I ran the Amped 1 to a cab.
@RickordProductions cool. I'll try running it through my Katana, then DI to the board. Thanks for the video, our taste in 80s metal rhythm tone is very similar 👌

Are you playing this through a tub amp?
No through a solid state. The Blackstar Amped 1.
What powered speakers are you using? Im looking at the headrush but there are better ones out there
EV ZLX12
sounds good, nice fat sound.
Never really liked mine. Found it far too top heavy, lacks mids in my humble opinion. Great Vid though.
Not so. Lacks warmth or decent sustain.
Play loud , not in the bedroom.
I love my ME-80. I retired my ME-50.
