Hi Buddy - WOW, that Icom 215 brings back many memories. Almost 40 years ago I received my ticket and could not afford an HF radio at that time, so I purchased a 215. Wished I still had that radio. Used it during our big flood stationed at our national guard armory. Provided communications for the guard all night when all other modes failed. Thanks for stirring up old memories. Love your videos no matter what the subject. Hope you make them for many years. Really like your new toy!
+Larry K4MU Yes that 215 is a great little unit. I like the design of it and how well it works as a portable. Much better than a HT. I plan to restore this one. I did notice it was off frequency a bit. Crystals do age. Glad you like my videos. I plan to make many more to come. I like stirring folks memories. Brings back the days of old :) Thanks for stopping in. 73 Buddy
Lots of nice stuff Buddy! Nice of everyone to send in those items. That trinocular scope looks nice too! Great to see you getting the stuff that makes the job easier. It's like Christmas in May :^)
+Mr Carlson's Lab Thanks Paul. Yes Mike hooked me up on the goodies. Will have fun with them. The scope changes everything now. Can get in a board and do some better quality work. I love Christmas in May :) Thanks for stopping in.
Hi Buddy. There used to be a company in Charlotte called Surplus Electronics. This was many years ago. You would not believe the hours I could spend in there looking at all the surplus equipment. Glad to see you are getting some nice stuff. 73...Dan
+Beretta96Dan Hi Dan. I remember hearing about them. I search and a listing in the yellow pages did come up. Yes was very nice to get this scope and the other goodies I received. Thanks my friend.
+orbiter8 (John) Hi John and good to see you. Yes I played around with this thing all day today. Really makes a difference. Thanks for stopping in my friend.
+TRXBench Hi Peter. Yes lots of nice stuff to use in projects. Should keep me busy for a while. The scope sure came at the right time also. Thanks for watching my friend. 73
+RestoreOldRadios Thanks Don. I hope to get my camera next week. Then I need to buy Sony Vegas Studio so I can do picture in picture and screen captures. Should not be long. Thanks for watching.
That's a very nice microscope indeed. I have one of AmScope's small, low cost units on my bench and I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of its optics.
+fpliuzzi The quality is unbelievable I will say. Makes those tiny components look like they are big as house. Real impressed. Should have gotten one long ago. Tanks for the comment.
+The Radio Shop That's what I said when I got mine, should have gotten one long ago. Now that you have it you'll wonder how you ever did SMD work without it.
I know I can never seem to have too many adapters for set-ups around!! Looks like Mike set you up pretty nice! I like that scope too. Look forward to some detailed video's.
+GrandsonofKong Always good to have adaptors for old equipment. He did a nice job on the selection of items. The scope should help produce some better future videos. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
When you have probably over 150,000 fuses its probably to many. Thought I would share the fuse wealth. All the knobs are NOS, again, got knobs coming out my ears. If you ever need air variable caps let me know, I have plenty more extracted from countless pieces of test equipment. Hope you can use at least some of what I sent. At the very least I know you needed 5 matching BNC T's. Mike
+MikesRadioRepair That was a box full od goodness Mike. I can use everything in it. Love those old banana jacks with the BNC on them. They will come in handy with multi meters and my old Eico scope. You can never have enough fuses either :) I also like that bag of orange capacitors. Which reminds me I need to make a parts list for the HP 410 and het those capacitors in. Need that unit working. Thanks so much for the items. Means a lot Mike.
+The Radio Shop Knew you liked the old equipment like I do so I figured you could use some of the older adapters. Probably should have sent a empty parts cabinet to put it all in. ;) Mike
+The Radio Shop My lifelong philosophy is he who dies with the most electronics junk wins and I'm on my way to winning. Just hope it's not death by parts and radio avalanche, LOL.
Nice stuff! Reminds me of the old traveling junk box.. you take something, add something and then send it on to the next guy. I wonder if it is still out there somewhere.
Oh now you've made me very envious of that new AmScope rig as I've been wanting one for a long time as well; you may have put me over the top once I see how you like it with all the attachment goodies! 73 - Dino KL0S
+Dino Papas LOL. Sorry about that :) I tell you Dino. Even without the light kit it is still very usable just off the surrounding like. Played with it for a bit this afternoon trying to get used to it. Man it helps a lot. My eyes are not what they used to be and this makes up for it. The price is good so cannot complain. You may as well get you one . Thanks for stopping in my friend.
Caution with that IC215 as the power input is centre negative. The only thing that fais is the audio amplifier chip, i have the last 5 in South Africa...... I will put in some beefy diodes and fuses to prevent this happening again, along with changing out the 10V capacitors ( really Icom!) that get peaked at 13V when the audio gets loud.
+SeanBZA Great comment Sean. Thanks for bringing that up. Those audio chips are basically unobtainable here. I do plan on recapping the rig. Thanks again.
+The Radio Shop I got them 2 months ago, at $5 for the lot. Took them a day to find them in the store as well, but i really need to put it in one day, it is a nice rig. Will take that antenna out, as it is broken, so will put a BNC in place of it. The connector AFAIK is for a set of rechargeable batteries, so they can be charged.
Nice going, the screw adjustment works so much better and I agree with you about "box operators" and the decline of makers.

Cheers friend

Hi Buddy, great stuff for new projects and a very nice Amscope which is an excellent addition to your shop! Take care my friend 73
+TRXBench Hi Peter. Yes lots of nice stuff to use in projects. Should keep me busy for a while. The scope sure came at the right time also. Thanks for watching my friend. 73
That's a very nice trinocular microscope and you can certainly add a light ring to it. I am looking to get one myself for micro soldering.
+VoltLog Thanks. Yes I found out how the light ring attaches. In the mean time I made a make shift one that works very well. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful piece of gear Buddy. Looking forward to more videos. 73, Bill.
+rollerbald Thanks Bill. May even be making more videos on other electronics now.
Some cool items. I really like the scope and look forward to a future video showing it in use. Best, Don

Wow! Christmas in May! Does not get any better than that. :D
Wait till you see Christmas in March!
