For this latest episode we’re back on the saltwater theme and for our first session back after lockdown we head to our favourite beach in North Norfolk!
Armed with some fresh lugworm, ragworm and frozen crab spring schoolies and smoothounds were on the agenda!
To find out a exactly how we got on and to see if we managed to catch our first fish post lockdown, then watch the latest episode from the waters edge…

Well done Chris! I don't know if you know but if you freeze those glow stick tip lights when you get home you can use them again 2 or 3 times depending on how long you are out with them on.

Hi Chris, really enjoy the show. Excellent program. Would love to fish the British coast one day. Just a small note on one of your rods. You have a guide, fourth down from the tip, with the insert missing. That could cost you a good fish if your line rubs on the metal frame and frays, then snaps. I'm a rod builder, so I notice these things. Cheers!

I know this is an old video but on the off-chance you read this I was wondering do you cast one bait to the horizon and another about 50 yards if that? I was always told 3rd wave out is where the bass are hunting, sadly never caught any bass but on the close in rod I got several bearded rockling and I lost a flounder In the surf but they were all close in at this time of year and the rod at distance just got destroyed by what I'm sure was pin whiting.
Hi Robbie, I read all the comments, although like in this case it might take me a while! 😊🎣 It's always worth mixing your casting distances up. I'd normally fish one as far as I can chuck it and then roam one rod around. (See if you can work out a pattern where the fish might be.) Many of these surf beaches have sandy bars underwater, so sometimes you may cast over them and sometimes you may cast inside of them. Bass will happily come in close to feed too.

Nice one mate! Am sure you could have a go with lures if the water was clear enough. You probably stand lots more chance fishing the shingle beaches though. (Weybourne, Cley, Salthouse etc)

Why is the beach boarded up like that?
It's a sea brake water coz the tide comes right in over the beach and where he was I don't think is far from the ramp where the lifeguard sometimes sits. I could be wrong though
They're sea defences Matthew, designed to help protect the cliffs from erosion.
how light was that line on your reel right at the start?
15lb mate, with a 50lb shockleader for casting.

It's called a pulley fennel rig mate, there's lots of video's on RUclips about them. Hope that helps! I will see if we can get a video done for you though at some stage. :-)

Chris uses the Greys GRX-S rods. They're 13fters. Really nice, user-friendly middle-of-the-road rods👍
