@Romero threads this tool is perfect. I bought a used machine and moved it about 200 miles. Needless to say, it needed tension set up for all threads. I tried many things and other videos that kind of worked. This resource got me to perfect tensions. Thank you!!!!
Never thought of having a separate bobbin case (Tension) for caps and resetting top tension. Here I thought one setting for everything. Thank You, Great video.
This video is so helpful and Your pdf charts are a life-saver! The advice to use the TOWA for the bobbin only plus your charts...I finally can adjust my tension and get best results. Thank you!
Solid video right here with some nice visuals. I completely reset all my tension knobs and followed along with the steps. I had to do some minor adjustments with a couple of needles and now everything is DIALED. Will defiantly recommend this video to anyone experiencing tension issues. Thanks, Romero 👊🏼
thank you much for this video. I have had my Ricoma EM1010 for a while now, haven't been able to use it because of the tension. This video makes it easier to do.
Hi from Cochrane, Alberta CANADA. I usually catch your replays. I don't do a tension test often enough I know that. When I do my test stitch out and if the tension looks off then I do a tension test.
Thanks for this video. I have single needle machines now but waiting for my multi needle to come in. The tension knobs were a mystery to me. Now I feel like I know exactly what to do now. Thanks so much.
Hi Romero , thanks so much for this video ! I’m wondering if you need a special bobbin case for the magnetic bobbins? Can you just remove the spring from the bobbin case that the machine comes with ?
Romero what If you don’t have a visible screw on your knobs and you only have a cap like screw ? How do you know when it would be flush with the screw ?
I had my machine sonce Oct 2023 and had nothing but problems with this 1010 embroidery machine. Took me the longest ti finish my training cuz of thread breaks, needle break and now tebsion problems i was ready to give it back. I only completed the training and one cap now having thread breaks with every needle now trying to do a tension test and now my pattern is out if the hoop area.
Hi, One quick question :" lets say they bobbin is to tight and we see a lot of upper thread on the backside of the embroidery. If the stitch out looks good, why should i adjust it" Till now i didn't find a person to answer this question for me. Btw, i love your work. I kbow machine embroidery is a niche and i assume you don't get much money out of the videos but i need to let you know that your work is very valuable to many of us. Much love from Berlin, Germany
Thank you for the comment Ace. As long as your top stitches look fine and the bottom isn't bunched up, then your good to go. Of course in a perfect world, everything will be spaced out evenly.
Thank you for posting these videos!! They are really helpful! I am having trouble with thread breaks and nesting when embroidering small letters (its always the same needle as I only have one dedicated for small lettering). I ran the tension test and it looks good so I am baffled on what to do. I am using a 60 weight thread and a 65/9 needle. I also rethreaded that needle to see if maybe it wasn't threaded correctly. I'm using the Madeira thread.. and I've tried a different brand to make sure that it wasn't the thread that was an issue. Do you have any suggestions for trouble shooting?
Yes, make sure the needle is facing the correct direction. That would be my best guess. Slow the machine down, and look up and down and see if the thread is catching on anything throughout the path.
Hello, I was thinking of your book maybe you could have a chapter regarding the differences between one-the softwares from the beginner friendly to the most advance and two the difference between each JPEG-DST Est… Three what machine goes to which files (the dst png est) I’m still learning that process, at the beginning of this Journey(embroidery ) I had no idea of the different files and their application.
Hi Ever, in the video I heard you say to "run the I test without putting the thread thru the pigtail in the bobbin"? Is this for the actual run on the machine? or just to test the tension using the TOWA tool? I am using the TOWA bobbin tension tool. I've had it for months! lol
Hello, thank you for the message. Thats only for the Towa gauge where you don't put it through the pig tail to get an accurate reading. Once its in the machine, yes, put the thread through the pig tail.
@@RomeroThreads Ok, thanks for responding. Could you please tel me what type of underthread or bottom thread do you use? Can I use regular sewing cotton thread as bottom thread? Thanks.
Hello and thank you for this video and all that you do the help out the embroidery community. I did an I test, and what does it mean when there's more top thread on the left side than the right? (ie instead of the back showing 1/3 of each, it's showing more top thread on the left side than the right. Hopefully this makes sense😫.
Hi! Culd you please help me? After a new tentien test and all nops down like in the one from your live videos and up the nops, the machine left about two inches long thread after cutting. What should I doo to fix it? Thank you!
Ideally, you would want an I-test that has more density (0.18mm) and end caps. That way, when you remove the puff, it gets perforated correctly. Worst case scenario, you can use this same I-test, you just wont pull the puff smoothly.
Hi, Romerio, I just received my BAI Embroidery 15-needle machine and I have set it up. I did a first embroidery test HHHH with multiple color threads, but it is only working with one needle and one color. After completing one letter, it stops and when I start again, it continues with the same color on needle number one. Can you please advise me on what I have done wrong?
Hello, yes, I would. I have ran a 3d puff I test to test for hats. I’ll put that video on my to list, that would be a good topic to talk about, thanks for your question.
@@RomeroThreads so i set up my hat and i am doing the I test on it, also the file you proved fits perfect with the exception to 6 colors that didn't fit. but it's all good. hopefully i can get this ricoma dialed in

Glad it was helpful!
I hated my machine, but thanks to this video, I understand the I test and I believe this could have been the main problem.
Hello, yes, usually as long as the tension is good and your machine is all threaded correctly, it should run fine. Thanks for the comment.

You differentiate bobbin tension for flats and 3d puff hats, what about a normal 112 richardson cap? Not 3d puff? I read around 21-23?

That can happen, you can ensure the bobbin housing is completely clean. But if its just a bit to the side, it wont affect the stitching.
@@RomeroThreads thank you!!
What if you have too thick bobbin on all needles but when you tighten your bobbin but the bobbin case is too high using the towa?
What kind of oil should we purchase for Ricoma embroidery machine and where should we oil the machine?

Hello I'm using a b hoop how do i get the design inside the hoop of a 1010 embroidery machine and my panel si so much different from yours

Is the I test you did on the cap examples a special file or just the same as the flats I test?
Is the I-test for puff different than the I-test for flats? Or can I use the same one? Very helpful video, thank you so much!

Make sure your design is set for 15 H’s with different colors. And you set 15 colors on the machine.
also could you put your I test for caps?

How do you run a eye test for tension on a EM 1010 ? I just got my machine and went through the training but did not show about how to do the eye test

What is the biggest size that can be done on the front of a hat centered like a normal hat
The biggest size Ive done is 3.25" high. I usually keep it at 2.5" high for my hats.
how do you get your bobbin thread in the middle mine is off to one side?
I would clean out the entire bobbin housing. Something is making it off shift.
how do you you the i test for a hat structure hat , example like yupoongs, flexit 110, richardson . would we run the i test on a hat ?
