What she says at the end about feeling worthy in the eyes of the world is soo spot on.❤
Delighted to see you hosting and engaging with Ester, she is so unique with a depth of insight into human relationships, and a wonderful gift with words
Again, brilliant analysis from Ester. The "walking wounded" read books and listen to material like this. Still, it is very challenging to get the conversations going.
I've never had to have better relations with myself, I just tried to improve myself and naturally at peace, or happy/calm, of course I have negative feelings, but I overcome them by going to exercise, drinking tea, learning something new, and believing that tomorrow will be a better version of myself. I do not compare myself with anyone else, we are all under different circumstances, but I can compare myself with myself and find a balance/middle path of demanding me to be better, but also accepting when I fail.
Man, I think this discussion surgically pinpointed the two major cultural narratives/priorities in the human species: individualistic versus collectivist, or western vs eastern cultures.
It seems to me that there needs to be a unification theory between the two because they're both obviously successful and have been selected by evolution for thousands of years.
Much like physics of the small, quantum mechanics, and physics of the big, general relativity, need to be united somehow and scientists have been seeking that mathematical unification, or so called theory of everything, for decades.
It's true that *our narrative*.. may or may not ALL be l00% true. That's an interesting piece.. we rarely discuss. It has value.
This is deep ❤ Thank you Dr. Attia
Dr. Perel’s description of “the bind” couples therapy, creates so many lost relationships. I can’t speak to the female perspective with any kind of authority since I’m not female, but there is a very entrenched idea for males that if you aren’t bleeding, throwing up, etc, you’re fine. So it definitely doesn’t help relationships in general.
7:36 Reading my mind in social interactions
Great video! Can you please explain the inner monologue in this context?
Maybe it's in the full episode linked in the description box below the video 172
After this drivel I now have a firmer grasp on why the family is being destroyed at a faster and faster pace in our society
Which aspects?
Dr. Attia comes off much more chill on his own podcast. I love his Rogan Episodes, but I always thought this was a dude who was gonna yell at me for being weak if I met him irl. Now, not so much.
Very interesting!
God be with you all
With therapists, where do ethics and morality fit? And reality? Seems to me like therapists think everything that everyone does is just peachy. And if you don't go along with that, the disfunction is with you. I think the ethical values of the therapist should be explicitly clear at the outset. What is obviously right and wrong to them, if anything at all? Or does everything go? ... and just embrace acceptance of all the world's evil then you won't have any emotional problems at all.
.. authenticity.. >>. 'narrative'..
Omg Peter is even more handsome with that goatee
No on cares. Live your life for God.
Yeah but there IS an objective reality 😆
I agree. If a person's narrative is not perceived as a true reality then the person seems inauthentic.
So many holes in what this woman speaks and Peter simply let her spew it all.
your subjective narrative has convinced you of an objective reality. only physics are objective, people are not. enjoy your TDS
