I’m trying to get back out there! They just stocked the upper and lower kern with trout this last week so the bite is probably going to be nice. Good luck! 🤙
I strongly recommend fishing using a single hook microspoon of 3.5g or more in narrow river points with strong currents. If you do this, you will never fail. The best time is between 7 am and 11 am and from 4 pm until sunset.
When were you there. I`m not a fisherman yet, but I brought my Grandsons up to fish 11/20-11/22 and didnt get a bite. Saw you were successful Hope you do even better when fishing for people for the LORD!!
So I was up 1st week of Nov before the cold weather set in! Talking to the locals they said it was really good in Sep-Oct when the river flow slowed down and warm weather in the 70-80s. Good luck to you and your family! God bless
Yeah no worries! So when I was planing my trip I read an article titled “Kern River Fishing: Angler’s Guide to Catching Trout & More” written by Jeffery Walters. You can find this article on google. Specifically I was fishing by powerhouse 3 just north of Kernville. I was there the first day and the morning of the second day I was just on Mountain 99 and there’s tons of spots to stop and fish. Good luck 🤙
Hey, cool video, heading up there next week. Looks like you were nymphing, was that a dry dropper or an indicator, and what flies were working for you. Thanks.
Thanks! I was with a guide so he was mainly choosing the flies, but yes it was a dry dropper with some sort of midge. I was also using a very small emerger pattern size 20 or so. He mentioned recently BWO patterns size 20-22 have been producing on hotter days around 12:30pm He has a RUclips channel with fishing reports every couple weeks regarding what flies to use and what areas to target. I linked it in the description of this video!
9ft 4weight fly rod. The spinning rod was actually one I picked up at the gas station so I’m not sure what weight or action it was. If I had to guess I would say it was a medium power, fast action 6 ft rod
I like that you let the Kern guy teach how to cast in those situations.
Absolutely! Whenever I decide to get a guide I always try to learn and absorb as much information from them as possible.
I fished the Kern River many times many years ago when I lived in the area. Good memories. Enjoyed the video.
Nice video dude
Thanks for watching!
Thats whats up bro,, local fishermen here..🤙👍
Thanks for watching!!
I'm going up there in a couple weeks, I hope I do as well as you.

@@Fishersofmen58 Thank you. God bless.
Looks like you found where they are stocked. Sometimes they hang out there
Yeah those guys were really stacked up in that little hole!

Do you have to pay to stay at the Fairview campsite
Yes, it is a paid campsite. Since I went close to the end of season the price wasn’t bad at all
What month were you there?
Late October! Before they closed the camp sites
Do they get any bigger?
That was my very first time on the Kern so I’m not sure! I’m going to try and head out there in a month or two once the flows die down and try again 🤙
