Some sailboats up to about 27' can be moved easily by trailer to safety... I still think a converted bus is a better idea, though. Buying a house nowadays is a horrible investment- the USA is saddled in debt and everyone is nearly broke. Prices for everything are about to skyrocket. Insurance companies dying, too. Real estate is about the only market set to tank- leaving most in inescapable mortgage debt. Good luck everyone.
@@JoeGator23 converted van more than a bus. Just like on a boat and trying to find a place to come ashore for work busses have issues with parking in a lot of places.
Now add in the mooringball field is a 6 month maximum per contract stay then you have to leave for a while and the municipal marina slips are not allowed to have liveaboards. And with the upcoming changes they are getting ready to make to the municipal marina it's bound to go up.

To start with it's not free, especially on a mooring ball field. But I could tell you a lot about it, I made the mistake of going to a shelter during Idalia, stayed on board for Debbie and Helene to keep a eye on her. Rough ride but it's not for everyone.
In the keys they take the charter fishing boats to the inland side and sink them to the bottom for the hurricane to pass over. Once it's clear, the boats are re-floated and ready to go.
@@JoeGator23 that's easier to do with a bare bones boat than sailboats that are fully outfitted. The Polynesian sailors use to do that as well on their cats during storms.
Now you should do a shot of what's left after a major storm. The mooring field didn't fair very well.
