The etymology of Late Latin Scoti is unclear. It is not a Latin derivation, nor does it correspond to any known Goidelic (Gaelic) term the Gaels used to name themselves as a whole or a constituent population-group. The implication is that this Late Latin word rendered a Primitive Irish term for a social grouping, occupation or activity, and only later became an ethnonym.

Scottish, specifically Glaswegian accent has been my favourite for a while. Irish from Belfast is more of a favourite to me than Dublin's.

In scotland you have Gaidhlig . Gaelic is irish .not to be confused with gaelic games or Gaeilge .
Gaidhlig is how it's spelt in Gaelic. Gaelic is the english spelling of the language.
Also Gaelic only dates to the 1st century AD where it evolved in Ireland from a Q Celtic language . this is incredibly late to say the least .how this celtic language became the dominate language in ireland is unknown . Gaelic only went to scotland around the same-time as English was introduced into what is now England . so the 4th century AD . you could argue that Gaelic is a very old language on the grounds from what it originated from that Q celtic language in ireland .
