The Shetland Islands have an even more similar accent to Norwegian. The Norwegian vikings have been settling in the area that is Scotland today for hundreds of years. You can clearly hear that among the Germanic languages, the closest to British English in terms of rhythm is Norwegian. They tend to end everything on a higher pitch, much like a lot of British accents.

I thought it was pretty obvious she was scottish. They should have included, more examples, from the Anglosphere, 3 is not enough. Although generally, this is becoming boring, we want to hear more about other languages and how qualities differ, there is too much emphasis on the english-language here lately
He is right about Englishmen (And maybe women?),though. Although the majority of areas of the world findd RP Brit accent, the most attractive(confirmed by the majority of these videos),to englishmen themselves, to whom this accent is the most common, often it's the accent from "certain areas", of Scotland and I would add certain areas of" Ireland and france, are the most sexy

Emmanuel did well because a lot of English people say they can’t distinguish between USA and Canada. As an American, for me it depends on what region of both countries because sometimes I can immediately tell someone is American or Canadian and at other times only because of certain words or speech patterns.
I know a lot of people are saying the Scottish lady sounds like she’s from the USA but I disagree. her pronunciation of several words especially “writer” didn’t sound American to me. Not that I would have pegged her as Scottish but definitely from Europe. I think if she sounded all American that Emmanuel would not have picked up on her sounding European compared to the other two although he had the wrong country.

@@anndeecosita3586 He's looking at it from a UK perspective and you are seeing it from an American perspective. It's much easier for us to see how she doesn't sound Scottish, and for you to see how she doesn't sound American, because we have stronger stereotypes for those accents. Her accent has probably been impacted both by RP and American, so it's very weak when it comes to Scottish accents. It also depends on where she comes from in Scotland.

@@mavsworld1733 I see your point. Our ears will be sensitive to different things. but the person said she sounded 100 percent American. I don’t think Emmanuel would have gathered she was European if she sounds completely American especially since he picked up on the Canadian who sounds way more like an American person than the Scottish lady did. My 2 cents.

@@anndeecosita3586 I agree, I don't think she sounds American either, I think the person you were orignially responding to was using hyperbole though. I could be wrong though. I could hear a lot of Americanisms in her pronunciation, which is something you see a lot of with continental Europeans who've learned English from American sources. That said, Emmanuel whilst having a very strong RP accent, also has a few weird pronunciations. All native speakers do (as a kid my friends made fun of how much I used ar over a, even though we are all rp speakers).
