  • Final video of the year and it seemed fitting to do it in front of the Dream Reef Tank. 2023 has been a HUGE year for both this tank and this channel, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to have an update on the tank including some juicy top-down DSLR footage.

    I love those Australian Stripey's, but you are right... as they get bigger they eat more and more corals, I recommend you get him out before he destroys all of your LPS

    Afternoon Sam, couple of questions, didn’t know where to reach out to. I have a case 1200 peninsula and was wondering if I should wait for the new reef factory dosing unit or buy one of the current one?
    Second- what skimmer would you recommend?
    Three - what brand are those fans your using on top of your tank?

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  8 месяцев назад

      Afternoon!
      You’d be fine with the current one. The new one will cost more and is really only beneficial if you want it to dose live foods and empty the line back into the container. Skimmer, lots and lots of options! I really like seatorch, but go with what your local fish shop carries and recommends. Dalua, Red Sea, mantis, octopus, so many great options.
      The fans are just breville desk fans that I mounted upside down

    Just personal thought. I think in the future you should change the wave maker to some other brands like Tunze, so you could point the direction to the surface. This may create more room for the coral to grow. Currently the vortechs only flow direct straight, i dont think they can grow direct to the flows.

    I have the same issue with corals underneath stn ing. I suspect the coral doesnt have enough energie to feed te remaining tissue or the tissue underneath gets easily effected. I think its because of the uv steriliser because it kills good bacteria. I myself had toxic dinos that were killing these corals. Most sps Doing fine and Some just Dying out of no where but mos of the times only the tissue that was not getting enough light. I did not see any dino’s no Brown or anything but when i raised temp to 27 C and doses microbe lift special blend i notced it stopped. I wouldn’t recommend raising temp because your gem tang is infected but maybe dose bacteria. Some corals also bleached that were in the light for instance my hammer was white but recovered. I suspect the toxic prevents corals from taking nutrients and then it kills them…
