For sure this is a "Dream Reef Tank". I honestly appreciate the the time and dedication involved behind this beautiful reef aquarium. There's lot to learn. Thanks for sharing.
This is probably the cleanest setup I've seen on RUclips. The motorized lights and panels are perfect. Maybe he can give us a ballpark on total cost for the rest of us dreamers.
I sure can, it’s all covered in detail on my channel, be sure to check out other videos! Here is the costing one: ruclips.net/video/ggsJ9LWcmjI/видео.htmlsi=9FBOFiuyGr_tqpuQ
The RUclips communitiy should be ashamed for only generating a million views on your series :) you inspired me to get into this hobby, if only (for now) with a cube 20. Keep it up and here's to another healthy two years.
thanks mate! I try not to do these super long episodes too often, but I personally really enjoy them and I know many out there (like yourself) do too. Thanks for following the journey mate!
The tank is looking amazing. I love the euro-brace and wish I went a similar route. Maybe for the next tank... Glad to hear that you used Duralac when screwing together the frame and that you're not seeing any corrosion. It makes a huge difference in salt-water environments and with the combination of electrolysis can really do damage. Not sure if I mentioned how quickly I had an issue on my catamaran, but we had a stainless bolt that was holding the main aluminium beams into the hull and the manufacturer didn't use Duralac. Within 12 months the stainless head of the bolt had completely eaten through the 5mm wall of the aluminium.
Huge shame with the femininus - I would not have been surprised but the other fish makes it strange. I just added a Yellow tail tamarin anampses and after QT observation it has been about 10 days in the display and is fine (although it doesn't seem to be able to catch pellets floating past). I'd just do the Humblefish 30min peroxide bath when adding a fish - I do... in and out of QT. I do think QT helps but it's hard to do it perfect and I did get ich in my tank and it took out my hybrid powder blue x goldrim - devastated over that as Elvis (like you I already have a Prince) was my favourite before the anampses.
Sam, I appreciate your dedication in providing this deep dive into the history of the tank. Even more, I am sorry about your employment situation. I REALLY hope that this is a very short lived circumstance. 👍🏾
It's been a wonderful journey to watch unfold Sam. Thanks for letting us be a part of it, I know I have learnt plenty along the way. Also thanks for being available to answer our questions. I know your still working on the frag tank behind the scenes but it would be great to see a video on it explaining why some frag tanks taken so long to bed in.
WOW Sam, just WOW!!! I absolutely loved the thorough update. Seriously I could have watched for a few more hours. Your blood, sweat & tears has really paid off. The setup is pure reefing genius and your livestock is gorgeous! 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Sorry to hear about your employment. I hope you land on your feet again soon. I can’t say enough good about what you have accomplished and I really appreciate your transparency. You are a great inspiration.
just recently started my dream tank. and i must say that the equipment you have looks amazing. i kinda want that reefbot lab. but im still working on what i want to do with sumps setup.
Those coral care gen 2 are really good lights. In fact I close them for one of my tanks because of your videos. I’m disappointed they aren’t easily available states side here as they used to be. I love how you set up with the goose necks.. that is a great setup! @kessil pay attention!! Thanks for sharing your tank journey! Congrats on such great success!
I just can't get over how fast this tank went from just getting wet to awesome. One think that stuck with me in this long video (which I love btw) is the price you said for wild sps colonies. $40 to $50. I have been in the hobby for over 20 years and those are prices I remember from when I started. Now in the U.S. where I live no fragsbof sps are really cheap. Yes you can get a piece of green slimer for $30 but it will be an inch and a half long... maybe. Great job on the tank. You should be proud. From what you said there is not much you would change and that has to be a great feeling. 👌
Amazing tank Sam! The compound you are talking about to go between the stainless/aluminium would have been duralac or tefgel id say, for those who are wonderi g
I am not a reefer or salt water keeper. But the tank looks great! I appreciate the tech and love you have for it. I absolutely love the stand and convinced my wife that the way to go for "my" dream tank. Water Box does has aluminum stands but they don't look as robust.

Hey Antonio! Thanks mate, I appreciate your support throughout the journey! I have a spare sleeve that I have clean and ready to swap over each 12 months that I change the bulb. You could just clean the existing one each time, but I find it easier his way :)
Hi Sam, great tank, i know its an older video. However, what gfo do you use in your tank. I find i need to replace mine every 2 weeks as my phosphates just shoot up.
Sam, great video. Thank you for all the knowledge you have give all the reefer following along. I’ve person used your idea for the motorized light mount on my build. You didn’t talk about what you have making that amazing flow in your tank? Is it still just MP60 and Tunze?
Thanks mate and glad it was able to help inspire a pet of your build!! I have the MP60 but also some tunze, the tunze are such a great pump and the vortex have such great software - love them both 😅
Sam I began using AF Lifesource to boost my biome and the corals really responded well with great PE. One question though… have you noticed a bump in PO4 the next day? I only used 1/3 dose on my 320 gallon sps reef.
Great update and the tank is looking awesome but don’t you think you are overestimating the impact of the CoralCare? You have 7 kessils and also light bars. The CoralCare total wattage is 510 vs 820 watts for the Kessils.
Yep and despite that, the Philips give way more coverage and par than the kessil. I seriously contemplated redoing the light frame to try and fit a fourth in there 😅
Hi Sam another awesome vid thank you look forward to every ep. Question have been thinking about adding an orphek light bar to my system , i understand you are not a big fan, however wondering have you ever done a par test with just the orpheks running.? Would love to know numbers.
Did you have any issues with the mastertronic pump tubes breaking? My pumps A&B both popped after about 350 tests, and pump C was about to go when I replaced the all. Have you done any maintenance to it over its use?
@ParkersReef Fantastic, when you do check out the 3d printed bushings to add. They keep the hoses from wearing out so fast. Also what are the dimensions of your tank? It looks very close to the one Im setting up now which is 84"x30"x30" or about 215x75x75cm.

Hello from Western Australia, Love the tank looks awesome. I have a quick question if you where to do this again would you keep the Fuge or replace it with a different form of nutrient export??
@@ParkersReef Yeah I am about to set up a fuge for my tank and I had a look at the turf scrubbers but just couldn't justify the insane price especially when you factor in currency conversion and shipping to Australia for a clear water one. Does your fuge chew the trace elements or is it pretty manageable?
hey Dane, there pretty different approaches. A sulphur reactor would still be my go to if you have a heavy bio load or you don't have space for a very large fuge. Refugium is a really neat natural solution though...
Could be osmosis related? like i know Perth pet shops fish only systems run a much lower salinity than their coral tanks. So when i have bought fish i have had to measure the salinity in the bag and then match the quarantine tank to that level and then slowly adjust over the weeks they r in quarantine.
The wrasse was kept in a coral tank at my local fish store for a couple weeks first, that system is the same specific gravity as my system - but it was a good idea
Please elaborate on alkalinity drop causing cyano!? I have cyano issues and never connected it to lowering my alkalinity. Are they connected? Please elaborate! Thanks
Lower alkalinity can certainly help spur cyano on. Important to bring your alkalinity back up over about 8dkh when fighting it. My alk slipped down to about 5.5 🤭
@@ParkersReef Thank you for the comprehensive response. That’s helpful. I’ve asked Triton and they’re saying it’s related to the low inorganic carbon and the carbon going out of balance. The inorganic carbon is in the CO3 alkalinity booster. Thanks
You didn t speak about water changes, unless I missed it. How often and how much? Or is a constant change? Give us some tips for automatic water change please and thank you
Sure thing! I do constant water changes in this tank via Kamoer X1 pro-t2. I take 20L of water out a day and put in 10L of water a day at 1.052sg (this allows me to make up the extra volume with kalkwasser)
What would you recommend over the Orpheks? I purchased 4 of th blue plus and was not at all impressed. I hear the sky blue is better, but not sure I want to try orpheks again.
@@ParkersReef I have two eco tech mp10 wave makers but they are not hooked up. Using two Sicci voyager 2000 Wavemakers now. and use Red Sea blue bucket salt.
@@jahhunt2010 the kessils I just pick a colour I like (at 100% brightness) and ramp to that over an hour, hold there for 10 hours and ramp down for an hour
Also another Question have you ever had any probs with your wet sides on your MP 60s? I have had 2 MP10s rust out in 6mths and one MP 40 wetside same story , have had all replaced on warranty, only use citric acid to clean and have used same cleaning method on cheap jabeo power heads for yrs and yrs and these are still fine?
For what its worth I have a longnose hawk for 2 years plus with 1 cleaner shrimp and 2 peppermint shrimp with zero issues, he pays them no attention! I think once well fed prob not worth their while
Do you use a kh keeper? If so do not put the waste water in the reef my lfs said some of hes fish died without an explanation and this was the only bad thing he did.
I can see colours though, just have a little trouble with blues and greens. But I have seen those glasses and the fully colourblind people putting them on is incredible!

Tank looks a lot more open and modern without the canopy.
Agreed, this gives me
The best of both worlds :)
Hi Sam what’s the spectrum settings you running on your Philips cc gen2s ?
I run 70 warm 100 cool all day :)
@@ParkersReef thanks Sam
What are the wetside guards you are using on your MP60's?
They were printed by Adrian Yap - I can connect you if you like?
Thanks
Triton are good like that, very responsive :)
Japanese golden hawks are lovely fish
Will check them out :)
Hi may I know the link to your jump guard please? I’m from QLD too.
Hey! I got my jump guard from NVS Aquatics, you can see the video here: ruclips.net/video/LD8O7fVzvg4/видео.html
What would you recommend over the Orpheks? I purchased 4 of th blue plus and was not at all impressed. I hear the sky blue is better, but not sure I want to try orpheks again.
I’d look at either reef factory light bars or illumagic vitamini
quanta bars
haven't heard of those but will check them out!
Outflowbox would be important also to know for many of us
Overflow box? It’s a shadow v2 :)
@@ParkersReef ty ty 😇
So what was the cause of your cyano outbreak Sam? Which nutrient was out of whack?
Drop in alkalinity and a change of weather
Plus organics raising a little with five light off for a couple weeks
Hello do you recommend Radion Xr15 Pro or Red Sea Reef LED 90. Lights ?
Both are great lights to be honest, probably depends more on what other parts you are running from either ecosystem?
@@ParkersReef I’m just using a 55 gallon standard aquarium want to eventually grow Acros
Do you have any other Red Sea or ecotech products?
@@ParkersReef I have two eco tech mp10 wave makers but they are not hooked up. Using two Sicci voyager 2000 Wavemakers now.
and use Red Sea blue bucket salt.
@@ParkersReef currently using two Fluval Marine lights. My tank is 6 months old with various soft corals and Lps
What are the light settings?
Which lights?
@@ParkersReef the Kessil
@@jahhunt2010 the kessils I just pick a colour I like (at 100% brightness) and ramp to that over an hour, hold there for 10 hours and ramp down for an hour

Also another Question have you ever had any probs with your wet sides on your MP 60s? I have had 2 MP10s rust out in 6mths and one MP 40 wetside same story , have had all replaced on warranty, only use citric acid to clean and have used same cleaning method on cheap jabeo power heads for yrs and yrs and these are still fine?
I haven’t, but I do check them often from all the stories I’ve heard
Doesn't your cover block the lighting par?
Not at all
Good lord what is the electric bill for this tank each month?!!
Solar saves the day 👌🏻
Do you have a fb page to follow or just yt
I just have a personal Facebook page, but you're welcome to add me :D
For what its worth I have a longnose hawk for 2 years plus with 1 cleaner shrimp and 2 peppermint shrimp with zero issues, he pays them no attention! I think once well fed prob not worth their while
that is good to know!
Do you use a kh keeper? If so do not put the waste water in the reef my lfs said some of hes fish died without an explanation and this was the only bad thing he did.
I’ve popped the waste back in the tank for a few years, it’s no issue mate
There’s a type of eyeglasses called EnChroma. Makes it so that color blind people can see true colors. Might be nice for you.
I can see colours though, just have a little trouble with blues and greens. But I have seen those glasses and the fully colourblind people putting them on is incredible!
Giveaway for whoever caught how many times he said “absolutely.” 😊 easily over 100

Funny how you Australians repurposed incorrectly the term "Mickey Mouse" as its an American slang meaning " totally ridiculous or shit."
