  • I've seem some coral collections in my time, but I have never, never, seen a private coral collection like this!
    Procured from all across Australia's finest coral retailers, Michael and Jo have built up a never ending supply of some of the world's greatest corals. From scolly, to hammers, to Goni, to sps, blasto, ricordea, bounce mushrooms, you name it - this couple has some of the greatest of those types of corals you'll ever see.
    Sit tight, this is a big video - but I promise you'll enjoy it!

    I started feeding in 1993. In 2003 I opened a shop and install/maintenance saltwater only business. I sold it in 2015.
    The industry became so toxic and wholesale companies started selling to guys with frag tangs in their moms house next to their bunk beds. Everyone has the same exact stuff. Then it became buy it all and cut them all.
    Then LEDs came into the mix. Turned the tanks into a World from Avatar.
    I will Give credit here. The healthy of the corals here in this video are pristine. I’ve personally seen Jason Fox’s collections and not too many can say they can have a collection like his. This is a great start towards that!
    I see videos now and then and I might get inspired to do an SPS speciality tank featuring only Acropora Granulosa. It’s my favorite

      Coral collecting is so much more rewarding when you’re able to tune out the social media buzz! I started to hunt and peck locally for corals about 2 years ago and do my best to distance myself from glamorous tank pics (yet, here I am!)
      The other thing to remember is that anyone with deep pockets can collect and photo corals to show off… that doesn’t mean anything. (not at all saying that’s what happening in the video). One of my favorite parts of the hobby is to hunt locally and spot sub $100 corals that have the potential to shine, but as being held back by their current owners.
      Also- the tanks/corals in this video are amazing as are the personalities!!

    OMG! Mind blowing collection! His Scoly sump is just insane, I’m actually speechless - so many stunning corals. Some of those hammers & frogspawn and as a fellow Ric addict, so jealous but so interesting about the bacterial infection. All those gorgeous Gonis and that basket of rock flower nems is my dream! Might need to mortgage my house to afford just a fraction of his collection!! I can’t wait to hear how he runs his systems, his coral feeding regimen and water parameters. ALL his corals are so incredibly fluffy and healthy, would just love to pick his brain! Is he just a private reefer or is he selling frags, I’m in Sydney so would love to be able to buy some stuff from him! Thanks Sam - brilliant video!!

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  4 месяца назад

      Daily. Dose will vary based on your tank and coral load, ICP will determine amount required, but you essentially want it to not show on an ICP despite dosing (as it oxidises out of the water column fairly quickly)
