How does it navigate with a few inches of snow? I also paid $23k for my 2015 with average of 60mpg, not sure its worth the inflated price now.
The steering wheel blocking the dash maybe cause by the wheel is pull too far out. I been driving my 2023 limit with steering wheel push closest to dash for almost three mouths now and never has an issue with the dash been block, narrow front view or A pillar blocking the view.
Sounds like a lot of interior and road noise. That's my number one issue with cars. Sold my old Honda Civic after least than a year, strictly because of intolerable road nose. I could hear every single bump and crack on surface streets and highways. Switched to my first Prius, and I was ecstatic!!

excellent review! one thing i've heard is the reduced headroom/visibility in the driver's seat compared to the old version. is this an issue/deal breaker?
The rear visibility is significantly reduced compared to prior Prius models (which were exceptional), however if you go for a higher trim with the digital mirror it certainly more than compensates for this (as well as compensate for lack of rear wiper). I was a bit unsure of the digital mirror initially, but once I got used to it, it’s been great. 👍🏻
Ditto with my 2008 Prius Tspirit Hybrid (UK). Been driving it for over 10 years and I can't find another vehicle remotely as reliable or trouble free as this vehicle - though the 5th Gen Prius PHEV is looking like the logical replacement for my existing car. No matter what anyone thinks, I've had the last laugh - saved literally thousands of pounds in fuel bills over the last 10 years and my 2nd Gen Prius (doubtlessly over-engineered back in the day) has been astoundingly trouble free at 155k miles so far - and it's my daily commuter. Still on the original drivetrain too, including the original traction battery.
I've owned 5 previous Prius of different years and have never been embarrassed by any of them. They were all great. As far as being considered to be slow, I never considered any of my older Prius as slow. It was quite adequate.
Will I still be able to fit a new 65" in the box tv thru the trunk? N no spare tire. Less embarrassing? Never embarrassed especially when pulling up to the gas station w a super short gas fill up experience.
I just bought 2 months ago mine at mexico. Ita si the premium one but here dont have all those benefits. However its great but IT has a lot of bad vibrations at the board and between the roof
Our 2024 Prime does not have the wireless phone charger. But, I do know that the cars that are equipped with the feature will not charge all mobile phones. It's not a fault with the charger, it's because some phones just are not compatible with the system. Also, if the phone has a case, that may prevent the charge from getting to the phone. With careful driving (and no electrical loads, i.e. heat/heated seats etc.), we can get over 80Km on a charge. We've had the car for two months and put 1,750+ Km on it so far. And, a third of the dealer fill-up is still in the tank. Gas here costs far more than hydro, actually, 2/3's more. With our daily driving we figure we'll save $ 1,600+ a year in fuel costs.

Non commercial drivers / owners will love it. This particular 5th Gen Prius has not been designed as an Uber Minicab duty vehicle, hence the near Ferrari looks. The Corolla has taken over the duties of general Uber Taxi Cab in the UK. This is also great as a plug-in in the UK - but it's designed primarily to be charged overnight at home - especially with its slow 3.3kW/h CSS charging capability. That's 3.5 hours for a full charge from empty. You'll ideally charge this on a lower overnight home tariff where it will cost as little as 9p per kW/h - from empty, you'd be looking at a little over £1.00 at most - not £4.00 per charge - unless you're using a public charger - and they tend to be very expensive and not good value for money in the UK. In my opinion, £1.00 for 30 miles (winter) to 50 (summer) miles for your commute is an unbelievable bargain. That's about £5.00 or probably less per week commuting costs (assuming you CAN get to work and back with one charge (mine is a daily 34 mile round trip commute). With home charging, that's about £20.00 per month charging costs (exclusively for commuting that is). I presently buy premium fuel for my ancient 2008 Prius every 21 days to fill the 45 litre tank - last bill was £70.00. That would be £15.00 for the three weeks commuting in the 5th Gen Prius PHEV (a.k.a. Prime) using a suitable home charging overnight tariff. I'd be saving about £50.00 every month in fuel costs in the UK by charging it every night.
@@datathunderstorm I don’t know maybe you have 70% off for electric mine will be £4 for charging and don’t have less tariffs for night I pay 41 pence per kWh so will be 13.5x41=over £5 no way you save any money over hybrid car and no hassle for charging it and you don’t know if electricity go up again so no for me if it was £25000 maybe but not £40000 no way

I am looking at getting a Prius Prime ot a Tesla. the beginning of 2025. On the Prius I like the gas and electric. On the Tesla I like the self driving car. Still thinking.
Toyota's new 5th generation Prius has undergone a major change in appearance, making it even cooler. It looks like a coupe-style sedan. Because the front pillars are large, the top of the instrument panel is deeper than the previous model, making it difficult to see the bonnet and the tip of the body. The rear seats feel a little cramped due to the low seating position. Power performance has been significantly improved compared to the previous model. The hybrid system is now in its fifth generation and has improved driving force in the practical rotation range. Improved power performance makes it easier to drive, and fuel efficiency has also improved. Good news (prediction) has arrived. A derivative model of the current Prius is scheduled to be released. The car name in Japan is "Prius α". A station wagon-like minivan (overall height 1,545mm). It is slightly larger than a sedan except for its overall width, offering good visibility and ease of driving. The rear seats are spacious, and three-row seating is available. The rear has power sliding doors on both sides. The powertrain is a 2-liter hybrid and a 1.8-liter hybrid. It appears that a 1.8-liter hybrid will be available for the first time for the general public. The 1.8 liter has less power than the 2 liter at 140 HP, but the fuel efficiency is excellent and seems to exceed 70 MPG. I will report further information as soon as I catch it.
Yes, irregardless is recognized by many dictionaries as a real word. And although recent online discourse may make it appear that this word is a new development, it's not. In fact, it was added to Merriam-Webster's unabridged edition back in 1934, and it has been in use for centuries.
I like the cockpit on the late model Prius. The gauges are to be viewed above the steering wheel, not in the middle or below. It's so simple, give me a break! I hate that large glass roof though. I don't like being forced to buy something that I don't want or need. It's actually not efficient, because it's heavier than the steel roof without the glass. So NO GLASS PLEASE on any model! I love the new Prius, except for that stupid glass roof on the Limited version. The new Prius is actually quite quick, faster than the Civic Si from 0-60 mph. Cool, but not needed. It goes get really great fuel mileage, a bit better than before. So, it is the perfect compact car and 100% reliable, because these are made in Japan. This is not the poor reliability vehicle from Toyota like the Tacoma or Tundra. The young man said that he was embarrassed being seen in the previous model Prius. I don't know what he would be embarrassed about. Penis envy? Perhaps.

Great looking vehicle. Enjoy it on video because you’re more likely to find a big foot, a unicorn, or a Dodo bird on a Toyota lot before you’ll see the ever-elusive 2024 Prius. Toyota vaporware.
Dashboard design not my thing. Body metal thickness, push hard enough with your finger and you'll get a dent. And the pricing...Here in Europe Toyota has removed Camry at the same time it introduces the new Prius with basically the same price...Really? This car doesn't come close to the level of Camry.
I have a feeling Toyota originally planned for a yoke with this heads up display. Once they decided on a traditional steering wheel then the heads up display got obstructed.
The absolutely worst thing about this vehicle is the terrible sound it makes when in EV mode at low speeds. It's the worst pedestrian warning system I've ever heard. My Sportage sounds like something out of a science fiction movie. This thing gives a mind-bogglingly bad mechanical grindy whirring sound. Like wtf Toyota. And no video I've seen even mentions it.
They made this too sporty and unpractical to appeal to the typical Prius customer, yet it’s still not cool enough for the people that say it’s cool to actually buy one.
I recently saw Teslas in my area. What an ordinary looking car. I think it’s ugly and the colors are incredibly bland. The Prius looks like a much much better value that a Tesla and one isn’t stranded w/o a charge station available everywhere.
The only problem is nowadays these dealerships are going to get you for like $70,000 before you leave. Watch out for new car salesman they will take $20,000 out of your pocket quick
I liked the range of the batteries of the Pry-us Pry-me I would never pay for more battery. They need to get the price down on these coz without the rebates they make no sense. The instrument cluster is indeed cringe on the new cars. Yikes. What was Toyota thinking? The real deal-killer tho' is no CD player the Subaru has it this doesn't so will be switching to a gasoline-based Subaru this coming year. Too bad... Toyota had it totally nailed down with the old Prime they should have stuck with it.
It's called technological evolution. Even though my 2008 Prius Tspirit (UK) has a 6 CD changer, I already have ALL my music in digital format, so I can listen to it on my iPhone or use an old iPhone 5S as an iPod connected to the Prius via an auxiliary audio cable. I never thought I’d want a Prius but I’d definitely take one of these. They hit a home run on looks except for when it comes to the dashboard. I’d rather have a traditional cluster like in the Corolla.
Toyota did that on purpose. Even the AC charging is limited to 3.3kW/h max. Very wise move. That plug-in traction battery is going to easily last the lifetime of the car. Why do I say that? Toyota do great BMS technology for their vehicle's hybrid traction batteries. This easily explains why my ancient 2008 Prius is still going strong at 155k miles with the original traction battery which is showing negligible degradation after 15 years of continuous use....!!! (Tested by Toyota December 2023). The plug-in model is designed ideally to be charged overnight in your home garage - preferably on a cheaper overnight tariff for the greatest savings.

I also wish the gauge cluster was more customizable, it's too cluttered imo. The placement of the cluster doesn't bother me at all and I think works pretty well
Which trim you got? I cant decide between LTD and XLE.
@@daftsapienXLE with the pano roof and 12.3 inch infotainment screen.
I’d get the limited if I were you, i really wish I had the better sound system and cooled seats.
What about the catalytic thieves? Did they do anything about deterring the thefts? Is there a shield installed? Thanks for the info
@@ramie3705on the dealer date you can add a cat shield for 150 or something like that
Bought my LXE AWD and love the way it looks and drives. Best part? Morning commute from Pasadena to Culver City, CA last week. With a drive time of an hour and one minute to go 23.3 miles I got a 71.7 MPG average. I don't know if that tells you more about how slow traffic is in LA in the am, or efficient this Prius is, but it's way better than the Jeep Wrangler it replaced
I’ve got a 2021 Prius XLE and I love it. I like the design and have no complaints about anything. I also have the smaller rims which are nice, more rubber and smoother ride. Can’t really justify getting the ‘23 although it looks cool.
Love the look. Not sure i am thrilled about Toyota lowering the vehicle 2 inches. My 2015 kept scraping our driveway pulling in and out and going up slopes around town. How does it navigate with a few inches of snow? I also paid $23k for my 2015 with average of 60mpg, not sure its worth the inflated price now.
Agree!! I'm in western NYS and 6 months of the year we have at least 6 inches of crunchy snow to deal with!
Does the fwd windshield A pillars create.blind spots from left to right?
For me, it did.
Prius AWD with the most hp? Whats it like to get in and out of? Hard on the head and knees? Can on replace stering wheel with yoke stye to see front display?
NO
Is the new Prius hard to get into and out of?
excellent review! one thing i've heard is the reduced headroom/visibility in the driver's seat compared to the old version. is this an issue/deal breaker?
Front seat headroom is ok for me at 6’1” but rear seat headroom is pretty compromised
GREAT REVIEW MAN! honestly one of the best i’ve seen on this car. maybe the best. Keep it up! (it’s just “regardless”)
Thanks 🙏
ive never once been embarrassed hopping in my 2007 prius, if anything im better for driving it. Less money more gas mileage
@@datathunderstormI'm embarrassed for people that drive their big lifted pick up trucks only getting 10mpg at best to their Walmart runs
What is the road noise like inside?
I just bought 2 months ago mine at mexico. Ita si the premium one but here dont have all those benefits. However its great but IT has a lot of bad vibrations at the board and between the roof
wireless charger doesnt work? Can you elaborate?

Yeah might be a bit tight
Drop the steering wheel low, in your lap. It's designed for a relaxed driving position looking over the wheel at the screen.
I like the new Prius

Haven't been any locally for almost 3 months, none of the dealerships have gotten any
At least now the Prius doesn't look like a Dork-mobile anymore, I actually work like to purchase one!
I'm 6' and 215. I feel extremely packaged in the Prius, bought a Camry. In my opinion, make Prius 20% larger and call it a "Camry"...

Here in uk don’t think is any good plug in hybrid as cost over £4 for charge it and just for 40 miles no much savings maybe good for some country if cheap electric and also two batteries one hybrid and one for plug in which very expensive if you need after warranty I will wait for Corolla saloon if coming out I think much better than plug in as i said you don’t save much and hassle to charge it every night as I working taxi driver
@@datathunderstorm I don’t know maybe you have 70% off for electric mine will be £4 for charging and don’t have less tariffs for night I pay 41 pence per kWh so will be 13.5x41=over £5 no way you save any money over hybrid car and no hassle for charging it and you don’t know if electricity go up again so no for me if it was £25000 maybe but not £40000 no way
This is my dream car I want to get this in 8 years.
Yes, amazing that Toyota made a good looking Prius. Jeff Dunham needs to come out with a new joke about the Prius good luck with that. 😂 Would buy on if in the market. How does it go into neutral for car wash?
“45miles can probably take people to and from work” - cries in 2hr commute time because of rush hour/traffic
Did they do anything to deter the catalytic converter thieves?
Nice. These look cool!
Now if Mazda made their lineup all Hybrid this thing would have a problem. The interior is YAWN on this Prius. Exterior looks great. Interior, yawn
Hiding the cluster behind the steering wheel, is just dumb. Hitting your head getting and out is deal breaker. I’m keeping my old 2015 Prius. Still seeing 46-49mpg.
I always thought my 2014 Prius was cool and still do. And, I still use my Prius to sleep in on long trips.
To me, it still looks like it needed a little more time in the sculpting design studio. It’s a little bit too plain.
Tire size is its Achilles heel

Irregardless is not a real word
Yes, irregardless is recognized by many dictionaries as a real word. And although recent online discourse may make it appear that this word is a new development, it's not. In fact, it was added to Merriam-Webster's unabridged edition back in 1934, and it has been in use for centuries.

I have no problem with the steering wheel and cluster. I’m 5’10”. Don’t get all the negative comments about this.
Very beautiful car
Indeed
And they’re made in Japan
Great car ! Good job Toyota
💪
Also... I really want lower horsepower and more mpg. No need for fasta-fasta.
Penis envy? Perhaps.
Irr-Regardless is not a word

Irr regardless , whether a word or not, is not proper. Irr- meaning not, so irr regardless is redundant and unecessary. Regardless is correct.

Never thought I'd hear "cringe" used in a car review let alone over used.
worse thing for me is the headliner isn't black OEM.... tired of light headliners
This guy says a couple words that are not quite right. For example, what is "irregardless" ?? Not very good english....
It means regardless; irregardless might be a little antiquated but does in fact exist in the dictionary and has been used for centuries.
There is no worst thing about Prius.

They made this too sporty and unpractical to appeal to the typical Prius customer, yet it’s still not cool enough for the people that say it’s cool to actually buy one.
I'm a typical Prius customer and I still like it. However, you're correct, they didn't need to lower it.
There's not 6 things wrong with it.

Say cringey. Jfc. How hard is it to add a fucking "e" at the end of that word. Saying "cringe" is cringey in of itself.
CD player? LOL why not just ask for an 8 track?

It's called technological evolution. Even though my 2008 Prius Tspirit (UK) has a 6 CD changer, I already have ALL my music in digital format, so I can listen to it on my iPhone or use an old iPhone 5S as an iPod connected to the Prius via an auxiliary audio cable. Shame I cannot integrate Apple Car Play into my ancient 2nd Gen Prius - and yes, I'm over 60 years old by the way.
The car is way too low.

no dc fast charging, unforgiveable
