Someone should call up Microsoft and see if they can lend blizzard some servers and people to maintain them
yeah you are spot on - they are so poor - someone should start a go fund me.....
it's not the servers the game is poorly built from the start , is Spaghetti code not bad servers
@@Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa_ Nearly 20 years of patching the code will do that, maybe we'll get lucky and Microsoft will clean it up (I doubt this)
It's not even a server problem, see RF Online PvP during Chipwar and see the difference. That game was way back in 2006 btw.
90% of the players all follow a few streamers to a single server and then ppl complain the servers are bad -_-
There are private servers who have been able to handle fights with hundreds of people on each side. Blizzard has no excuse.
clearly, they should turn wow PvP into Advance Wars
What server??
most have been taken down cause they make blizz look bad
@@patrickcarter1820
This is trivialising the problem. The scale that blizzard deals with is incomparable to private servers
You have to remember blizzard is a billion dollar indie company
Man... Imagine if the game was actually playable, these battles would be awesome...
Imagine if it was controlled like say Wintergrasp was in WotLK. The idea of having it be totally open world pvp was doomed to fail in execution
Something is lost without collision imo. Not to say it wouldn’t be cool, but feels weird without space being occupied. Idk it’s just something that feels particularly dated
Tbh i think these battle are totally do-able, but you don't realize the amount of traffic asmon creates on the server doing this. If this was independently setup it would have 50x less people, but still visually look the same probably.
@@HeyImBoschea this is to you but also every other comment in this thread, look up archeage blob world pvp and see how smooth it is and how this should be. 100s people having battles pushing zones back and forth, it was great fun.
It worked on nostalrius and other private servers just fine with the same amount of ppl. Blizz is just dogshit. They can afford much more but instead they just make the game unplayable. Why even waste our time with this. It's not even epic or whatever in my eyes.
Imagine if WoW was free to play. The amount of people would be really insane
it would be exactly the same.

There would be more bots you mean @@YehNahYehAyy
@@YehNahYehAyy Yes and no... More players playing the game overall ? Absolutely... More players in any zone ? No Blizzard can`t afford proper servers as they are a small indie company --> more phasing... The game will feel exactly the same as before when it comes to seeing and interacting with others. Empty.
@@monalisa-bs4zs i would try it if it was F2P (or even just cheaper). not gonna pay 120$ for a 20 year old game
This is why you dont roll on streamer server
Yeah, multiplayer networking scaling problem. If you have 2 people on screen, each one needs information on 1 other person, which is a total of 2 'updates' the server needs to send out. If you have 3 people on screen, they each need data on 2 other people, which is 6 total updates to send, 2 per each of the 3 people.
updates = n * (n - 1)
So if you have 20 people on screen, you need 20 * (20 - 1) = 380 updates, just to handle making sure all clients are seeing everyone move and use abilities.
In the case of battle for Ashenvale, wouldn't be surprised if each side has a couple raids going right now, which would be 80 on each side, so a total of 160 players all told in one spot. This is 160 * (160 - 1) = 25,440 updates.
And those updates need to be sent out at a rate equal to your ping, so every like, 30 milliseconds, send out 25,440 updates. Yeah it can't keep up with that.
Very few servers in the world could just 'handle' that mess, so just saying 'upgrade the servers', yeah that wouldn't help. You can't solve n * (n - 1) with 'bigger server'. You have to try to solve the n * (n - 1) problem itself, and it is very difficult to do. One of the ways they usually do so is just cap how many people can play at once (aka, make a battle ground).
The thing I find most surprising is that the WoW dev team thought that open world pvp that lets as many people in as wants to show up wouldn't just implode like this.
Wowee, an actual decent comment instead the usual spergs
This comment should be pinned at the top
World pvp works fine
This is a crusader strike exclusive issue because asmons fans tail him constantly in game
You say that but somehow Return of Reckoning, a private server of a shitty dated Warhammer MMO with comparable graphics to WoW can have 800 people on screen doing shit and have barely any lag (and the lag isn't server lag)

it's the netcode, not the servers
@@Dekatelon Doesn't matter, the resources exist in 2020+, they won't pay for them and this being a monthly subscription game too. I'm not listening to any excuses for why this small indie company can't do it. Players do have to load in every other players inventory, so I can't be too hard on them I guess...
I hate to be that guy: but it's not even Bobby's fault, nor Blizzard for that matter.
isnt this just because everyone is purposefully layering over to asmonds layer?
To fix this, Blizzard needs to disable the API call that returns what EVERY player is doing within 41 yards of you. Imagine having 300 players all calling that every time they cast a single spell times 300 players times how many spells those 300 players are casting as well and boom the server cannot handle it. Sorry, DPS meters will have to go. Either that or Blizzard needs to make that API call much more efficient to not return so much data. There is no need to tell each client what someone else is doing if it has no affect on them. Disable DPS meters outside of instances is the easiest fix.
To add even more problems, each single step the API tells every player within 41 yards the movement of each player and renders that animation on top of any ability those players use. It is a lot of data. This is fixable, but it requires a lot of simplifying code and making hiding things from other players who don't need to have that information. It's why the whole zone lags because the server cannot handle the massive amount of data going back and forth at the same time.
@@Khaltazarits not the server but the client how it process all the data if it was the server the whole server will lag and d/c the problem is the client how it recieve the data and takes a shit ton to process and lags the shit out, some private servers modified the client to optimize and process the data, but blizz is too lazy or maybe afraid to update it

I remember back in original vanilla on Akama like 4-5 horde raiding guilds got together, it was maybe 8-9 full raids of people, and we all attacked Iron Forge one night. We almost had the king down when the server finally died. It was a slide show getting there and eventually the GMs restarted the server and teleported a bunch of us away from Ironforge. This, of course, ruined one of the top guilds' Naxx progression raids and so they weren't very happy with us. All of our raiding times were posted and public so the next time we got together to raid the alliance had locked down the raid entrances and we had to battle to get in. Good times.
I love all the alliance players on the server being assmonglers because the ratio of good assmonglers to terrible assmonglers is like 1 for every 500 so its so easy as a horde player to farm them for honor.

This reminds of of the massive battles in GW2 WvW play. It can be quite confusing. Especially if you're running around trying to wack someone instead of using ranged weapons.
I've played GW2 for a couple years now, never seen this amount of lag in a WvW, frame drops maybe, but the second you lower your settings it goes away. This is the fault of a terrible host server setup
except in GW2 it doesn't freeze everyone in place and you can actually play (even if it's a slideshow on your end)
That's funny, as a old guy this reminds me of Ashran in WOD, which was so bad it was called Trashran in the community, I can't believe some nob in Blizzard thought recycling this was a good idea! 😂
At least gw2 is playable
Yea except it can handle huge zergs of players clashing with dozens of different siege weapons

Yes and no, it was nowhere close to what we're experiencing right now. It;s just too much. Before it was an issue with processing power due to PCs not being the best back in the day, now its just such a massive amount of people the server is what cant handle it now.

Reminds me of Warhammer: Online's RvR. It was almost identical, you've had players just randomly load in on top of you and be dead when the zerg hit because it couldnt populate everyone at once. It was insanity.
Im really surprised that the goal for this first level tier was to funnel everyone into one zone. I thought they learned from TBC and Hellfire to not do that again.
It seemed like a fun idea.
The Asmongold experience by Nixxiom never been so real lol
The new PoE Minion build looks tight
Imagine creating/running an online game for 20 years and still not knowing WTF you're doing. Even with all that subscription money, they'll spend a little as possible and the fact that it's that laggy and unplayable is inexcusable. Absolute incompetence.
Wintergrasp at release had the same identical issue.
Nice to see Blizzard never learns from their mistakes.
I sure loved playing this with my kids when it first came out. Wild and fun vid.

Lineage 2 came out 1 year before wow. Its a sandbox mmo with a fully open world. No instances or layering with loading screens anywhere (this was the state of the game 15-20 years ago, not sure todays versions tho). Everyone at the server is logged into the same world. This combined with mass scale pvp or raiding is what made it a great game.
I know Steven from Ashes of creation is/was a big L2 fan so I hope they manage to pull it off
L2 is mmo with mass pvp. It is still the best in this
imagine the biggest mmo where the MMO part doesnt work that be insane if that battle didnt had any server issues

Exactly, idk why people are shocked and coming at blizzard for this
Lineage 2.
The lagfest with large scale pvp in WoW is one reason i never stayed playing the game very long. Planetside 2 doesn't have these lag issues. Which is why Ashes of Creation is using some of the same tech on the backend. Also DAOC was way better than this in 2001.
You're right, but I don't like the Planetside 2 comparison. It's not a MMO that has to worry about/handle a bunch of other stuff outside of large scale PvP. It's built specifically for large scale PvP and that alone.

Nothing with much more than 10v10 actual *ACTIVE* combatants is even fun. Even Altetac Valley, the real fun was in smaller skirmishes around the map rather than the literal 40v40 Zerg where the first idiot to step too far forward instantly dies.
They should put some kind of debuff (player number can be tuned, but for example’s sake we’ll start with 10 same faction players). For every additional [same faction] player above 10 within 50 yards of you, your stats are reduced by a percentage. Encourage world PvP events like Ashenvale to be a zone wide battle for however many players (100? 200?) but which results in smaller strike teams skirmishing all over the zone rather than a giant 200 player lagfest clusterfuck.
The server choking makes this large scale fight progress at a rate similar to a child moving around plastic Army Men and narrating the battle.
2:30 How is it 2023 and a game from 2004 is making servers lag with a couple hundred people in one spot? This is how MMORPG's SHOULD be... we've gone too long with dead servers in games and layering to make you feel alone. Get better servers and get rid of layers. Bring back the MMO experience. Besides the lag, this is absolutely awesome and looks like so much fun!
Couple thousand*
Aside from the lag, they need to make the guards level 25 instead of 40. It makes no sense to have skull level guards running around when it's supposed to be a zone for level 25 pvp.
The last time I saw something this bad was during the great Blackrock War on Benediction when the Allies broke the tide of the horde seeking to enter Nefarian's lair. Or when we broke the horde again when chaos broke out when the gates of AQ opened.
Reminds me of the old Southshore fights between Ally/Horde.
@Asmongold TV I've heard that its so laggy because it has to load each persons inventory to include their bank tabs.
It's the new faction balance feature! The more players a team has, the more lag to compensate.
Man they need to stop outsourcing during launches and peaks and just bring it all back in house, and deal with the ISPs directly. It's gotten worse not better and it's so very important that you can have large scale battles.....
Dude this is what I imagined raids on capital cities looked like. When I was a child talking about this in elementary school during the early days before Burning Crusade; We'd talk about stuff like this and this is what I imagined it to be.

This video needs to go viral and just remind blizzard that this is unacceptable. Great job editors lol
I don't think there's much they can do it about it, objectively. They're playing on an old as shit game. Even modern MMOs with up to date practices would hitch a bit with this many players - Blizz needs to overhaul their entire netcode to deal with this, which they wont because it's probably a gordian knot.
Unacceptable? Bro this is peak vanilla content. Yeah we could have a seamless war with tons of people but then it wouldn’t be funny or have good content
@@Leronnic 😂😂🤣
Server flooded by a streamers community. They cant do shit about this.
@@mr.gamingz ???? They have a problem without streamers, can't do shit in AV when we meet in the middle
On lone wolf we had massive 100v100 clashes and it was epic, virtually 0 lag
Can’t imagine doing this, just seems unfun
Reminds me of queueing up for Ashran ever week back in WoD
Imagine having a Starforge PC and still not able to pay a 20 yr old game.
Are you saying the problem resides in his computers performance?
he's probably being sarcastic but who the fuck knows nowadays
