Time FLIES!!!!! You're saying 51 years ago, but I do realize it's been that long. When I was going to high school in Acton, (1968-71) I had to spend an hour on the bus, we lived way out in the farmlands. The bus driver played CKOC Hamilton, (1150-CKOC) and this song was my fave. I heard it the other day on an oldies station , and it just brought back such memories! There is good music today, but not on the radio anymore. I miss the old days.
Your 17,you just graduated high school its ,summer and your whole world is ahead of you, with the one you love ..your young, healthy and very happy being alive.
I was 8 yrs old when this song came out. I remember listening to this and other great AM "pop music" station singles in the summer of 1970 on my little Sony, hand-held transistor radio! This song transports me back to a seemingly simpler time. Great timeless song that never grows old!
I was 15 when this song came out. this song and so many more of that same time are still so important in my memory. I don't think music has ever been the same since that time. I'm 69 now, and there has been a lot of really good music since. But I really love the music of the late 60's and early 70's. I have to aask you to listen to a song be Street Heart, came out in '78. It's called Action. I never heard this song until 4 years ago, and I just freakin' love it. Check it out
Sorry for all my speling boo-boos, but I was typing faster than my brain could control my fingers. Shit happens sometimes, but I hope you caught was I was trying to say, despite the spelling errors
Back in 1970 when I was 19, I didn't realize how happy, just a good feeling, this song gave me. Still does to this day. We are all very lucky to have our own, personal "picks me up",music.
I don't know about anyone else but I've heard this song about a 1,000 times in the past 50 years and have never got tired of hearing it. If I was marooned on a desert island and could only pick one song to play..this would be the song.
Wonderful composition. I remember the first time I heard it. At the high school I attended in El Salvador, kids loved it. Ever since it has been one of my favorit songs.
Alive and kicking started in a basement or garage in Brooklyn NY Tommy James wrote this song for them. But they are awesome .I'm from the Bronx I was 10 til this day every I hear this song the memories flow thank you and God bless you alive and kicking
Tommy James and this group....... We will never be able to duplicate these artists. The music in the 2000 s will never have the heart felt songs they sang and brought us all together at a difficult time. Thank you Tommy James and the Shondells for touching Our lives.
The slight smell of a two stroke outboard as an occasional boat passed by on the lake, the bright sunshine, warm sweet smelling summer breeze, playing cards in our canvas tent playing crazy eights and kings corner, fishing on the dock for sun fish and swimming, listening to these songs on KDWB out of the twin city’s I was seven years old back then life seemed so sweet back then I wonder where it all went.
Yes, I feel like I'm driving around with my cousins at the age of 7 in a non air conditioned car with the windows open... It's amazing what music can do !
Its funny you should say that. I heard this in Safeway and it immediately took me back to the exact place and time I heard it for the first time. Amazing how the mind does that
You mean you still have Goosebumps from the very first time you heard this all these years days and nights you had goosebumps Non-Stop? Sounds like a skin condition. JK
Woke up with this song running around in my head, wasn't even sure who it was... found it on RUclips, what a beautiful chorus, I loved this song as a teenager, no wonder, thank god for RUclips
I was 12 when this song came out and I still blast it thru my stereo they just don't make perfect music like this anymore it will always stay on my PLAY LIST thank you Alive and Kickin
You & I know how great 👍 music was back in 1969-71, but it's ironic how my Grandparents & parents used to make the same comments about "current" music vs "old" music back then?
I remember being at house of records in Tacoma, Wa. And a car of teenagers rushed in and asked the manager who sang this song as they just heard it on the radio and he didn’t know but I was perusing the 45’s and said it’s Tighter tighter by Alive and Kicking and no, there wasn’t a copy in the store- this was the nineties and I was addicted to this and it is is my collection and I never get tired of the way I feel whenever I play it- goosebumps🥰
One of my all time favorites! My sister and I had a dance routine we would do with this and we played this song over and over again! I’ve never gotten tired of this song 53 years later!❤❤❤
I heard this many a day out in the hay field. My kids ask me what it was like back then, starting high school and graduation in 1974. My one word response was FREEDOM
Bass Line in this song is bumpin'!! God I LOVED the 70's!!!!! This is one of the songs that make you happy to still be,..... Alive 'n' Kickin'. Rest in peace Mr. Pepe Cardona.
This is just one of those songs that was written and performed so well. I wish there was a video of the moment they recorded this. To me this is so much better than anything being thrown out to the public these days. This song seemed so ahead of its time, but still captured the mood of 1970. I guess great songs always stand the test of time, and this certainly does. LOVE this extended mix. Whoever did this, THANK YOU!
Right as rain Mike! I graduated high school in 1970 and the memories this song brings to me are invaluable! Sounds even so much better in the extended version! Godspeed to all!👌
Anyone here from Flushing NY and remember a club Called Jimmy Burns? I remember at 20 yrs old going to the club every weekend to listen to this group perform. Today 2020 I am 62.
O..M..G..Yessssss!!! From Astoria but we went there practically every weekend!!!! My best friends sister even let us take her maroon Camero instead of my shit brown Impala! Good times, good times!!!
I was 13 and remember I hope they didn't stop playing it before I found out who played it. It's been all these years without my favorite ❤️ song. I'm catching up. Love the extended. My jbl extreme rocks this song.
Great job by motosogam on this extended rendition. “Tighter And Tighter” by Alive And Kicking is one of my favorite songs. I was a mere lad of thirteen when it came out, and I’m sixty-six now. Still enjoy it after all these years.
I was 13 when I first heard this song. It inspired me to continue music and learn to play guitar. It was such a good feeling song. I had forgotten all about this song until I stumbled on it here. It still emotes this good feeling I remember from long ago.
Real instruments, real vocal artists and song lyrics that had substance, depth and very relatable to the point that even the sad songs would make you happy! Cant listen to most songs today!
reminds me of when my mother would drive me out for an ice cream or just got driving when I was about 7 or 8 yo and she would have the radio blasting with an "oldies" station -miss those days R.I.P mom and R.I.P. Dad
Never forget the first time I heard this song. 1970, western Kansas, we were cutting wheat. Stopped about 10 pm because the wheat was getting tough. Drove the equipment back to the farmyard. Got in my car to drive home and this song came on KOMA out of Oklahoma City. I was spellbound and listened to the entire song before driving away.
Believe it or not! I just heard this incredible song for the first time today, 1/30/19, on the Sirius 70's channel. Have never heard of the song or the group before this day. This is truly a feel good song. Can think of a number of movie scenes, family videos, other projects this song would be great for. Love this group and song! 70's forever!!!!
One day I held your hand , then one day you let go as Vietnam called you far away , 45 years later you took my hand again. 8 months later heaven called you away . I don't know when but I know I will take your hand again with God's blessing . Amen ❤
I was 20 in 1970 when this song hit the airwaves. I had just bought my first car, a 1970 Mustang fastback, and can remember grooving to this tune on the Mustang's AM radio. Lots of happy memories here. You can hear the Tommy James style in this song. Great job on the extended version!
I was 18 and just graduated high school when this song came out. Iam 72 now and when I hear this song , precious memories and feelings flood my heart and soul of the girl I was dating at the time.
Am glad James decided to give this one away! He sure picked the right group to do it. Had forgotten music could still make me feel like this. First heard it when home again on temp leave before being deployed. In those times you lived every minute and knew good music when you heard it. I would have extended it too! The guitar solo was a stand-alone classic all by itself.
This song has NEVER gotten old for me....one of my all time favorites from my early years and will always have a place in my rock n roll heart. I was just learning to play the drums and a buddy of mine that had been playing for a while showed me the groove. Wow! I was hooked. Have it on my iPhone and play it regularly! I imagine people in the car next to me at the stop light are wondering why this old man plays it so loudly!!!! LOL....'cause it's so damn good!
We owe our Parents for what we became, and all the music that helped to mold us into good human beings, I am grateful I was able to serve this country for as long as I did and Thanks be only to God almighty I made it old age
This song completes the checklist of having everything in it : a tight, punchy rhythmic Groove, great "Loving-Lyrics", tight vocal Harmonies, a long, sustaining Fuzz guitar line, a hot, snappy overdriven lead guitar Solo & last but not least - a hypnotic "Herb Alpert" - like Trumpet Riff echoing in the background. How can you get any "Tighter" than THIS, now Baby ?
When I heard this on the radio today I literally laughed out loud in delight. What great memories this evoked. Thanks for posting this. I had to hear it again.
I was so influenced by this song. I remember writing ‘Alive and Kicking’ in every High School Yearbook I signed. 1970-1974 in retrospect some awesome times.
51 years later and I STILL LOVE THIS SONG!!!
This song is awesome. I never get sick of hearing it.
