Absolutely magnificent. I’m fortunate to have grown up in those times…💙 Thank you Mr. Stewart, for this musical treasure.😊
I remember hearing this back in the 70s when I was in middle school. Al Stewart marked my soul with this and Time Passeges. Both songs are masterpieces. As much today as then.

I imagine the Adagio from symphony No.2 by Rachmaninov to be one of the most beautiful interludes imaginable in music, but I'm not certain it could have the same effect if radically condensed from 15 minutest to say 3 - I think that beardy cello chappy did a marvelous attempt at reducing it to 7 minutes or thereabout. Much of music is in fact repetition albeit with a differing instrument; clever use of what appears to mere mortals as a simple cut & paste settles that instinctive assurance. It also lets you further delve into the created melody.
