"making a complete clown show of this event" well that statement aged like fine wine by the time this was over 💀. Yeah so Tyme used to be the Rock-type leader of the Montenevera Gym. Her sister Ryme turned it into a Ghost-type gym after Tyme joined the Academy's faculty. I love what Ryme has done to the Gym, the stage looks so cool with all the colors and not to mention the iconic dancing Greavard in the background. I really like how different each person's style was and how much it ended up mattering. here is an idea for a round of the JMC; for each round you are given five random characteristics for pokemon. (examples: it is the color red, it can fly, it walks on four legs, it is duel typing, it is fully evolve ect.)and each round won't have the same combo of characteristics. when you catch a pokemon you get a point for each characteristic it matches, ranging from one point to five. the most points after five to ten rounds win. and since we know it will come up, catching a shiny can replace one of the characteristics with 'shiny'.
When it comes to color, would a shiny Pokemon be scored as the shiny's coloration, or its usual coloration (would shiny Magikarp count as yellow or red)?
@@shadowwriter329 But what if the characteristic I want to replace isn't the color? Say, two of the requirements in a round are "red color", and "ground type", and I get the aforementioned shiny Magikarp. What color does that Magikarp count as? If it counts as yellow, the player would only be able to get one point from those two categories (since shiny Feesh is neither red nor a ground-type, it gets no points outside of the shiny replacement bonus). If it counts as red (Magikarp's default color), the player would get two points from those two categories (replacing the "ground-type" requirement with "shiny", and fulfilling the "red" condition naturally). And it would have the opposite result if it was a shiny Gyarados (I would get the 2 points if the shiny colors were used to match the characteristics, since shiny Dos is red while its normal colors isn't). So for consistency's sake, what color would a shiny count as? I could make the argument for either: -Using its shiny coloration intuitively makes more sense, since it's the color you're getting it in, while also adding an element of strategy/risk for hunting shinies (if the color only matches the shiny, it could be worth two more points than the non-shiny) -Treating the shiny as its default coloration (outside of the shiny bonus) makes hunting mons/points more consistent, since there would be no difference between the normal and shiny mon outside of the shiny bonus (if you have a mon that you know would get 4/5 characteristics, getting it shiny would ensure 5/5 even if one of those 4 characteristics is its color)
@@charlesruteal9062 any one characteristic can be replace, most likely one that wouldn’t match the Pokémon anyway. For example with the Gyarados you can replace one such as “it walks on four legs” to get as many points as possible. The characteristic are random and there are plenty of combos to do each round so it makes it more challenging and shiny just adds a twist because let’s be honest I am expecting John to catch one shiny each video where you catch them.
@@shadowwriter329 You still need to pick one (between treating the shiny as its shiny colors, or default colors), though. The examples I gave with the Magikarp/Gyarados include a characteristic that doesn't match the Pokemon (the ground typing). In either case, the shiny point would go to that "ground" characteristic (or any other characteristic that doesn't match, like "walks on four legs" like you mentioned), and the shiny would be worth one point on that alone. But I was talking about the point gained by the "red" characteristic. Should a shiny Magikarp count as yellow or red? This sort of thing might seem insignificant (it's a difference of at most one point per round), but it'd be better to troubleshoot the rules in advance to make the competition more fair/consistent (like how they agreed to ban Gen 6 and 7's guaranteed catch routes in one of their shiny catching challenges).
Fun fact: if you are trying to capture a pokemon that you already have, a successful will always be critical. So you either get a critical capture or a failed capture.
Fun fact: Mrs. Tyme used to be the Rock type gym leader in Montenevera. She retired from that line of work to become an English teacher for the trainers to come and was succeeded by her sister... The MC of RIP, Ryme.
And this is why Espathra is a better lead than Glimmora. Finally, a Champion who punishes us for ridiculous setup spam leads! Way better than an auto Toxic Spikes in the generation where everything can become Poison type.

I could make the argument for either:
-Using its shiny coloration intuitively makes more sense, since it's the color you're getting it in, while also adding an element of strategy/risk for hunting shinies (if the color only matches the shiny, it could be worth two more points than the non-shiny)
-Treating the shiny as its default coloration (outside of the shiny bonus) makes hunting mons/points more consistent, since there would be no difference between the normal and shiny mon outside of the shiny bonus (if you have a mon that you know would get 4/5 characteristics, getting it shiny would ensure 5/5 even if one of those 4 characteristics is its color)
The fact John didn’t go to the Casseroya lake for a Lv 50 gyrados made me kinda laugh 7:04
Fun fact: if you are trying to capture a pokemon that you already have, a successful will always be critical. So you either get a critical capture or a failed capture.
I hate that so much. It removes all the suspense from Pokémon captures and brings the capturing mechanic back to almost literally Gen 1 standards.
Love the JMC!
If you guys could have 6 normal Pokémon plus one legendary in real life what would they be?
Am I the only one who wants to see Team Sky vs John's evil team?
He has an evil team?
Team Sky vs Team Frog or Feesh maybe?
I think the funniest thing about this video is how MandJTV LITERALLY PASSED A SHINY LOKIX (at 6:27), HAHA.
This was an epic video, especially the final fight.
19:30 Arven has his pokeball upside down?! Did I never notice?
This actually helped me understand all those Espartha dominated raids for Cinderace thank you
Yep, that was to check Bulk Up's stat boosts.
johns shiny sneeze looks really cool
What a stressful battle, but at same time was amazing to watch.
Edit: at around 18:51 to 18:54 there is a black screen not sure if that is intentional
yeah was trying to go avant garde with my editing style good eye
excellent how the champion nemona theme began playing just when mikey and john were at their first battle
Ah yes,a whole playthrough to beat each other, true rivalry
Get this the 69th most commented comment lol
Really?
John running past a shiny Cetodle when heading to mesagoza made me laugh
Fun fact: Mrs. Tyme used to be the Rock type gym leader in Montenevera. She retired from that line of work to become an English teacher for the trainers to come and was succeeded by her sister... The MC of RIP, Ryme.
Maths teacher, actually.
@@gengarzilla1685 No idea how I forgot that, damn.
Me trying to pronounce the Pokémon: 14:15
whenever you make a new video i get soo excited.... I LOVE your content
19:22 the reason this happened is because protosynthesis counts stat changes, so because of intimidate, defense was the highest stat
We are all waiting for team Sky in paldea right?
First he still has Gens 5-8 to go.
Yeah but still
Hail Yeah!
I want him to pick Qauxly and then dump Quaquaval like Empoleon in Platinum
Will likely be happy once his Miraidon/Koraidon can glide
As soon as I watched PM7 catch I magicarp I said: ok, GGs, John caught a Magicarp it’s over, he’s gonna win
I would love to see you do a playthrough of Pokémon Shield but using only Fairy types.
That Espathra absolutely walled John
And this is why Espathra is a better lead than Glimmora. Finally, a Champion who punishes us for ridiculous setup spam leads! Way better than an auto Toxic Spikes in the generation where everything can become Poison type.
Mikeys pure Joy at the end is adorable😍
I felt the same when I beated champion in Pokemon blue for the first time ever in any game. I had level 35 dugtrio and butterfree as my psycich pokemon in my team🙈 I dont remember the rest of the team...
Anyone who hit the dislike button this vid was laughing to hard to see the like button
