I always love the dynamic of John having the most random of thoughts that end up going nowhere and Mikey over thinking almost everything and also goes nowhere. It's hilarious
I think that's why the two of them as a duo are so entertaining in these competitions. Mikey's habit of always trying to overanalyze everything doesn't exactly work when John never has any kind of thought process behind anything he does 😂

I love how it's clear that Mikey is relying on strategy and puts actual thoughts into his guesses, while John just guesses at random, yet still wins XD

Fun fact: Luvdisc is actually used by Wallace in Ruby and Sapphire and ORAS as a member of his gym team so it is used by a major trainer.

i am in game for 85h in scarlet and have 8 shinies so far finished main story like 10h ago and i am 53 pokemons from completing dex mostly i miss exclusives from violet but i think trick to shiny hunting is in both games is exploring random locations not hunting for specific one

RUclipsrs say that using sandwiches plus having the shiny charm is the best way to get shinies. But PM7 has proved to us time and time again that all it takes is to go against Mikey in a challenge haha

I love how John one through insane called shots rather than smart play. Mikey tries to use the optimal strategy of eliminating half of all remaining options with each guess, whereas John just says YEET and swings for the fences. The PM7 luck factor clearly is not just for shinies.

Fun Fact, Quick Balls only work when they crit capture because in this game, if you already have the Pokémon registered and you successfully capture it, it'll show the crit capture animation to save time

I find it both amusing, and infuriating, that they both, in the same round, asked if a pokemon was in an evolutionary line, were told no, then still guessed a pokemon that was in an evolutionary line.

I still want the last episode of the John Michael cup season 2 to be a triva contest. Ten game related questions, ten anime related questions, five questions related to John channel that Mikey must answer, five questions related to Mikey channel that John must answer, and one tie breaker question. The host can be either wolfy or papace
I remember playing the board game: Guess Who, when I was younger, and what John and Michael are playing for this challenge is basically the same game as Guess Who.
This was actually hilarious. I like both of them on their own...but these two together are greater than the sum of their parts.
Note on crit captures, they work a bit different this gen. A successful catch roll will always display as a crit capture on a pokemon you have already caught. If you dont roll a successful catch, you will get shaking.
I personally hate that. It's turned crit captures into a close-to-literal revival of Gen 1 capture mechanics.
@@gengarzilla1685 what do you mean? The odds of a successful catch have always been rolled when the ball was thrown. Crit captures just had increased odds. Only difference in Gen 1 was that instead of the instant breakout we have now, you could miss. Functionally the same though
I'm one pokemon in and my prediction for the rest of this video is that Mikey is strategically think of questions and John is just gonna spit ball it and see what sticks

@@zorimanar2247 Pretty sure he would have specified gen 9 gym leaders and significant trainers if he only meant Scarlet and Violet. I think he only named Arven and Penny as examples of significant trainers as example because they were more immediately on the mind at the time because of the recentness of Scarlet and Violet. The question wouldn't help him if he meant only gen 9 and there was any chance of John interpreting the question the way the majority of people have (where any and all gym leaders and significant trainers are on the table).
The fairy type would have been considered a special typing if introduced before the physical special split because when it was introduced initially it had primarily special attack moves and it would have evened out the number of types that were physical and special to nine apiece.
Fun fact, all of Eevee’s evolutions are special typings (if you include fairy in that list) and if they ever released another evolution it would probably be dragon type.
That first part is not really that big of a criteria, considering the Dark type
