Hi Dimitri, I have recently found your channel and enjoy it. My 2002 Mazda 323 (bought new) recently got written off after 22 years of reliable service by a P plater while parked outside our home. I'm after a Max $30k SUV that will last me another 20+ years and I share Ilyas concern over CVTs for the long term. I'm not impressed with what I've seen in the last two weeks. If you had to choose between MG ZST, Hyundai Venue, Kia Stonic or Mitsubishi ASX what would be your pick for long term ownership? I'm not interested in resale. This will be our small second car mostly driven by my 84 yo father and myself and my wife in the future (why I'm choosing an SUV as opposed to a sedan or hatch). Spaciba for any insight.
I wouldn’t pick any of the ones u stated but have a look at a low mileage Toyota Camry hybrid u can pick one up low KM and not very old for $30 thousand they roomy reliable and very economical and spare parts available if needed. If a new car is wanted try the model just arrived MG3 hybrid top of the range for that price , they great drive and roomy
Mate it's a hard question to ask, and I tend to somewhat agree with @Theo who also commented on this... To fit into $30k and get a brand new SUV that will last you forever is a big ask mate. I'd maybe check Haval Jolion as they are rather solid cars by a solid Chinese brand GWM and are better built (subjective opinion) than an MG. AND it would come with a 7 year warranty, which is the main benefit over ANY option that you'd get on some "used Toyota Camry". With that being said, around that ballpark price you might get away with getting not a full-on SUV but a smaller hatchback from Toyota, something like a Corolla (not Cross) and that - while horribly boring - will likely last you a long time. Hope it helps you a bit, but basically, go and test drive a few cars and most importantly - decide if you're going more established brand and slightly used car, or a brand new one (then you have to go Chinese, most likely).
There is a new 2024 Suzuki swift hybrid. A small Suzuki ignis it’s a SUV good for older people don’t have to bent down to get in , May get a good price as Suzuki has stop importing them A small Kia Picanto it’s highly recommended by car reviews
I think it is fair to say that Japanese ( and Sth Korean to a slightly lesser extent) manufacturers share the same attention to detail in design as shown in the clearly discount Toyota. Sure it has cheap materials and looks likes a plastic box inside but it has not been thrown together and was designed to last. The Chinese offerings are improving all the time and if you intend to trade during the warranty period you really can't go wrong. The risk is if you intend to own long term; will it last? This is not specific to the Chinese cars, all Euro cars are the same. Having owned many Euros I would never keep past warranty because the risk/return makes no sense. Having owned Toyotas as work vehicles we have shied away from them as personal vehicles as they are sooo boring. Still the work vehicles are unbreakable and at the point where we decided to buy our "last" car we went with Lexus to try and get the Toyota quality with a bit of personality. We have not regretted the decision. I would defend the Toyota CVT system. It is undoubtedly the most reliable on Earth and the fixed first gear for take off eliminates the No.1 complaint for CVTs. Sure Nissan CVTs are junk but I have never heard of a Toyota CVT giving trouble and how many million of them are running around in Corollas out there? The Toyota CVT paired with adaptive cruise is the smoothest drive I have ever experienced, far better than any EV which are the next closest. I loved our Audi DCT but it is not a patch on the Toyota CVT, just don't get the models with the fake engine noises. I guess that just goes to show that even Toyota/Lexus will stoop to cheap gimmickry like Tesla et al.
Yes I think that's what Ilya is saying. He fairly points out the cheapness of some China-made elements and doesn't shy away from WHERE this car is made (hence me pointing out to badge snobs that not everything coming out China is crap by definition), but the design and legacy of this car is still Japanese, hence the better passenger safety and a lot of other time-proven systems, vs. the freshly underbaked inventions of the newer Chinese brands.
I wonder what he charges for an ' acoustic re-fit ' of a car ? Cool tear down of a car. And CVT's suck, cheap to produce , and not reliable over years. 👍
CVT yes, but this is not what Toyota uses. E-CVT is probably most reliable transmission and in Toyotas it basically doesn't break. Try to search for any video, article for broken Toyota's E-CVT.
I prefer these kind of car reviews as I know there is more to a vehicle than the exterior colour and the interior decorations , keep up the good work
Thanks, glad to hear someone still appreciates these.
Of course we want more of these videos . Information plus entertainment from a great host as yourself and from our tradesman friends from Russia.
Thanks mate, appreciate it
love those videos, and thanks for the translation ... more .
Thanks again, glad you're interested.

@@ValueCarsAU the GWM 2024 Julian hybrid is good value but has a very small boot and no spare tyre

Toyota should have axed the cross and build a small truck. The wait list in my area for a Ford Maverick is 2-3 months.
You'd buy Ford of all brands in 2024? Interesting.

Cool tear down of a car.

No idea how much they charge, I'd actually be interested to check for myself - not that either of us would use his services. He has a website.

Great
👌
Most Toyotas and Hondas are made by GAC
I didn't know that, cheers
What a load of bullshit ,
What a bullshit and pointless comment 🤷♀️🤣
