    • @DTours

      @@johncerutti3940 You could definitely hit them all in one day. You will need a rental car or get an Uber to some of the spots. But you could get it all done in a few hours. I know that there are some Jawa location tours in the island too that bring you to all the spots if you wanna do it that way instead.

      @@DTours ok because right now I’m landing on the island at 9am and scheduled to leave on the ferry at 12, I’m hoping to catch some of the big spots, should that be enough time? (I’m bringing my own car)

    • @DTours
      @DTours  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@johncerutti3940 I would hit up Quints Marina and where the regatta sign was by the lighthouse first. They are like a 30min drive away from everything. They are the furthest away. Then where Broady’s house was (not the same house now). The police station, hardware store and town hall are all real close to each other. I’d say hit the ferry landing and the Jaws bridge and where Alex got attacked last since they are near where the ferry boat docks. That’s if you take the same ferry that I did But you may need more than 3hrs to see everything.

    Still the scariest movie I have ever seen, I lived in the centre of Australia in the 70’s, no ocean for thousands of miles, but I still freaked out if my brother wouldn’t come in the swimming pool with me, certain a shark was lurking in the deep end.

    Hi there Derek, this is Rubén from Barcelona, Spain.... Thanks so much for this video.... I love Jaws, which I saw for the first time in 1976 when I was 6 y.o...pretty young age I guess because in the following years I was kind of traumatized specially when I had to go to the weekly swimming class...whenever I was at the deepest side of the pool I usually thought that a great white would appear from out of nowhere... Jajaja.... Anyway, since I was a kid I loved America, your culture your history your way of life...and youtube brings the opportunity to enjoy videos and channels like yours..this video is very well documented, thanks to the editing inserting excerpts of the movie, very good video quality, good explanations etc..thank so much for the video!!!!!!

    Hi Derek, that was great, really well done, as well as the locations you made some good funny comments too! Also my favourite of all time. I was 13 when it was released, I'm from the UK and it wasn't shown there the summer of release in 1975, so we read all the publicity about it for months - can you imagine the excitement when it finally went on release? Therefore people went Jaws crazy in the summer of 1976. I went to see it straight off five times, the atmosphere in the movie theater was electric as back then you didn't get many previews of the best bits, and with everyone seeing it for the first time, the shrieks and screams during the 'jump scares' was fantastic. My little sister was not allowed to see it but I told her all about it, probably ruined it for her, because when she did finally get to go see it (not sure if it was on that run or later), she said she already knew what was coming! Always wanted to do this trip and yours is the best review of it I've seen. Many thanks!

Range north of Kabul in Afghanistan or visit the sacred places where Christ once walked, but in truth, if I waited for a perfectly safe world, I would have never left the comfort of my own native home. Everything we do is risk management, every time I get in my car I risk death, every time I eat certain foods I can risk possible certain health issues in the future. I now just put my head down and walk into the storm. Keep your head up brother... :-)

    Hi I was 15 when JAWS came out, and like you it quickly became my all time favorite picture. I was lucky enough to visit Martha’s Vineyard in 2009. I also did the “walk of JAWS”, and saw many of the same things you did. Yes you did miss a few things, but heck you got far more than you missed. The only thing I’m going to mention is the store, that Chief Brody went into to buy all his Beach Closed sign merchandise. I quickly recognized the awning that was over the Hardware Store, back in 1974 (when JAWS was filmed), and still there in 2009, when I was there. You referred to it as a “Paper products Store”, and it’s actually then and when I was there a Hardware Store. A gentleman who I was lucky enough to speak to in the store, explained to me that they had actually rearranged the store for the movie, along with the store that is next store. Then of course put it back the way it was after filming. My two favorite places that I was able to visit as you did, were A-“The Amity TownHall”. I was lucky enough to be able to go inside and, I was so AMAZED how much everything was still the exact same way!! Everything except for the chalkboard that Quint scratched his nails on. Also Manemsha where Quints shack was. I again was so wonderfully amazed how much of the houses and buildings were still there. i. e the building with the red roof! We ate at a restaurant while there, where they had an autographed picture of Robert Shaw, as Quint. We also sat at a table that faced directly out to where the Orca left to go out to sea! It was all so amazing! Oh I was at Martha’s Vineyard in 1976 with my parents, and we took the bus tour which of course included The Chief Brody house. At that time it hadn’t changed at all!! The bus driver also told us that the house had just sold for One Hundred Thousand dollars!! Can you imagine an amazing house like that selling for such little money!! Of course as I said it was back in 1976. I had the opportunity to meet Roy Scheider in 1976 on my birthday, while he was filming the movie, The Sorcerer, sadly I have to say that he was less than friendly!! Here there were all these kids and some adults just waiting to meet our favorite movie star, and he couldn’t have been less interested!! I remember he was talking to a few men, when my Mom asked him if he would have his picture taken with myself and a few of my friends. All he said in a very snippy I couldn’t care less tone, was “I’m talking to these men”!! Ok so maybe he was talking movie business, but omg we and many others like us, were amongst the same fan’s who were making his career!! And all he could say was I’m busy!! Then we went back the next day, although don’t ask me why, and he was in his trailer. Here we were a bunch of fans as I started to say before, and we were asking him to please come out. All he did was ignore us!! I mean can you imagine!! Finally we fans began to get fed up, and I said that I could very easily make Richard Dreyfus my favorite actor! Well after about 15-20 min of this, he decided to Grace us with his presence. Well a week later we went back again and all I can think is that his manager or someone must have had a good talk with him, because he was slightly different. More willing to give autographs and pictures. Well that’s my JAWS tail (no pun intended). I truly enjoyed your back to JAWS film. Enjoy, stay out of the water, JAWS on my Brother JAWS fan!!
    P. S. In 2009 the same gentleman at the hardware store told us that the actor who played Alex Kitner (Jeffrey Vorhees) was working as a manager at a restaurant on Island ( sorry I forgot the name) so in we went, and who do you think was acting host, nobody else but Jeffrey himself. Well I couldn’t resist saying hi to him, and acknowledging that I knew who he was, and believe it or not, he was actually annoyed by that! Now I have met quite a few famous actors and actresses over the years, and very few are unpleasant. Well he showed us to a table and said you waiter will be with you, and quickly walked away. I got up after placing my order and explained how we were told by a town merchant that this was were we could find him. He seemed relieved, although I can’t say why other than he said that, he had told people on Martha’s Vineyard not to tell fans were he works. So I got to talk to him a bit, and he told me that it was a fun but somewhat distant memory for him. He didn’t even know the year that it was filmed! Lol. I also couldn’t help but notice that, well if you notice in the movie while he is walking to get his raft to go into the ocean, his low back has an odd curve to it. His posture is off. His butt sticks out. Well, it still does poor guy. Who knows maybe he’s sick to death of people noticing him, and bothering him for autographs and pictures, hmmm is it my imagination, or does this sound at all familiar. Say like Roy Scheider??!!

All the address for all the locations can easily be found on Google. There are a few websites that give you all the addresses. Thanks for taking me back. I lived there for several years. Only one thing I saw; South Beach was the first scene, but Chrissie actually dives into the calmer waters of Sate Beach, then Hendricks finds her remains on South Beach. (I lived a mile from S. Beach and never saw the waters that calm.) Otherwise, you got everything perfectly! Thanks again.

      Thanks for the info on the State Beach and South Beach locations! I’m going back this Summer to film this again without the mask and to add a few. We things I learned since filming this. Thanks for watching my friend.

    Hey Derek. Thank you so much for your very enjoyable tour of Martha's Vineyard. Jaws is my favourite film of all time too. Loved the movie quotations. Sat here in the 🇬🇧 watching Jaws 2 on TV, wishing it was Jaws 1, but thankful it's not Jaws 'the revenge'. Stay safe fella

      Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Too bad masks were a thing back then. I want to go back to Amity and refill it all without the mask.

    Hey Derek, my absolute favorite movie of all time too!!!! Can’t watch it enough or anything related to it. I enjoyed your video with the commentary and the enthusiasm you had. It was Fantastic. The part where you were at Quints boat house was great, when you added the Orca leaving to head to sea for its battle from the movie. We go to the Cape every year, and I think about how it was filmed there and get such a great feeling!!! Once again, GREAT video and movie!!!!

      Hey Chris. I appreciate your awesome comment. Thank you. I’m happy that you enjoyed my video. It was an amazing experience visiting “Amity” to film this video. I can’t believe how well it came out (other than having to wear a mask).. I may go back again this year and film it again without the mask. There will never be another film like Jaws. It’s special, it can be copied by crappy shark movies but nothing will ever come close. It’s magic. Thanks for enjoying Jaws as much as I do and thanks for watching my video.
