This was my first Priest song. I was maybe 14, buddy was 16. Out riding our bikes, looking for beer cans, we collected different kinds. He found a cassette, tape had broken, and they tossed it out the window. He took it home and patched it up and we listened... blown away by this. Next time we went to a store that had a good selection, he shows me this album. "do ya think this is it?"... So we got home, put it on and YES! This is how we discovered them, been listening to them ever since. I'm 59 and still jamming to them. All hail the 'Priest!
As a 15-year old, the British Steel album hooked me onto Judas Priest. I then discovered the back catalog of great songs that were not big commercial hits. However, myself and many others agree that those songs are what make Priest an all-time favorite band.
This is the song that turned me on to Priest 40 years ago. I had been hooked on prog rock like Rush, Yes, King Crimson, etc, and hadn't thought to give Judas Priest the time of day, and then a friend played this for me. They've been among my favorite bands ever since. Just last week my son and I went to see them in Huntsville, AL, and they are still amazing. They played this song, and it was the high point of the show for me.
My wife's 1st cousin wrote "You've Got Another Thing Coming" as an entry for a radio station contest near Columbia, S.C. in the late 70s. It was more country and he was pissed at his gf at the time. Mike Raley...RIP. He got $50 and that was it. Song entered public domain and Judas bought it. It ruined his life. He tried to get something, even just recognition, from JP. No they said. Bugger off! His weakness in never achieving another song that made it drove him to odd jobs and drinking. Amazing how something so seemingly insignificant can overwhelm a person. Side effects of alcohol, lots of alcohol, liver/kidney failures, killed him about 6-7 yrs ago. Was a good guy. All true. RIP Mike.

There are many types of metal. I have come to enjoy many types. Heavy metal is my fave, but I also love Meshuggah. I listen to New Millenium Cyanide Christ and play Wordle. It helps me relax and concentrate. I know this isn't how many people view Meshuggah, but this is my desert island relaxation tune. lol

Everything they've done since, is an attempt to recapture this level of 🤘🤘, They just released a new album a few months ago, it fucking rocks. Not for a band of guys in their 70's, it just rocks. I'm very fortunate to have seen them in 1983 at The US Festival, just a few weeks before I turned 17. Perfect.
Priest are called the Metal Gods. They have 19 good to great studio albums you will not be disappointed. 19 came out this year 50yrs after their 1st in 1974.

Judas Priest has been around for a loooong time. They are still producing new music and out there touring. This early period of Priest is very bluesy....more hard rock.......Keep going in their album collection and they get heavier and heavier....to become the original Heavy Metal band....... Also like someone mentioned you guys should listen to "Painkiller" off their Painkiller album next......it is fast, hard and will melt your face off. "Freewheel Burning is also an amazing song by them.

Unleashed In The East (live) is my favorite Priest album but Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, Stained Class, Hell Bent for Leather, British Steel, Point of Entry and even Screaming for Vengeance are worth a listen. Nothing wrong with albums after Screaming for Vengeance but for me it’s a very different Priest sound.

Love, Love, Love Judas Priest! You have absolutely got to check out the Unleashed In The East album, this song is FIRE on that album, followed by Diamonds And Rust. That album was definitely the Soundtrack of My Youth and that was in the late 80's early 90's many years after its Sept 1979 release. For me, the 1978 Stained Class album is the ultimate Priest album. No, it doesn't have their hits from the 80s. But I'm not nearly as into those songs. Yeah, they're bangers, but if you want to hear the stunning dual guitar attacks of K.K. Downing and Glen Tipton, this album does it. There isn't a bad song on there. I'm with @andrearodriguez, Beyond The Realms of Death. It is a power ballad that other so-called power ballads would like to be. Mellow, then searing. Then mellow, then searing. Both Downing and Tipton have solos. Or Saints In Hell. I particularly loved that song because I bought the album while I was attending a Mormon junior college. Mormons refer to themselves colloquially as "saints". The intro to Saints In Hell will burn your face off. Of course, the louder you play it, the greater the effect. 😉 You absolutely cannot go wrong with either song.
Rob Halford and Priest just put out a new album. I saw them live in 1982 and I'm telling you straight. Rob Halford's vocal ability is still amazing today. The new album is fantastic. Try Panic Attack on the new album.
I've been down the rabbit hole a few time of just watching reaction videos for this song. It really is one of the best reaction songs of all time. I think this is their best album, but it is one that never got any radio play. Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver from this same album is the next reaction to do from them. Then maybe Hellion/Electric Eye from Screaming for Vengeance. Their entire live performance from the 1983 US Festival is epic.

I love this song, my favorite by Priest. That slowpart brings memories back of me walking the streets of my highrise hometown by night, run away from home, cops, the original "walkman",.... long story. But like i said, one of those songs that takes you back. So well, i can almost smell it. (ps:i was 14, so don't judge me *g)

Go listen to some of these from the studio, and then check them out on "Unleashed in the East (Live in Japan)": Tyrant, Genocide, Sinner, The Green Manalishi (With the Two-Pronged Crown), The Ripper...the one you just listened to. The difference between the studio version and the live version is crazy.

Rob Halford and Priest just put out a new album. I saw them live in 1982 and I'm telling you straight. Rob Halford's vocal ability is still amazing today. The new album is fantastic. Try Panic Attack on the new album.
I've been down the rabbit hole a few time of just watching reaction videos for this song. It really is one of the best reaction songs of all time. I think this is their best album, but it is one that never got any radio play. Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver from this same album is the next reaction to do from them. Then maybe Hellion/Electric Eye from Screaming for Vengeance. Their entire live performance from the 1983 US Festival is epic.

Their best songs came in the next album from them called Stained Class. Every song on that album is incredible. You guys will love the melodies and raw power.

Thank you for excellent video and reaction. I would recommend watching Priest live set at the 1983 US Festival and see them on fire. You love this song, I suggest you try "Beyond the Realms of Death" by them, a haunting ballad, with the greatest metal guitar solo ever (1st solo).

I love this song, my favorite by Priest. That slowpart brings memories back of me walking the streets of my highrise hometown by night, run away from home, cops, the original "walkman",.... long story. But like i said, one of those songs that takes you back. So well, i can almost smell it. (ps:i was 14, so don't judge me *g)

Judas Priest and especially Rob Halford, for example, is so good that live together with the stage presence is usually the much greater experience.
OK, Judas Priest is one of the original heavy metal bands and revolutionized what Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were doing in the 70's into a streamlined, leather-clad, powerful music genre in the 80's. Judas Priest debuted in 1974 w/ the album 'Rocka Rolla'... and never made the same album twice... Early records like this one ('Sad wings of destiny' in 1976) had potential but did not capture what the band would be capable of... Their 1979 live album 'Unleashed in the East' was a remarkable representation of how they sounded in concert.
The core of the classic band was: Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton & K.K. Downing (guitars), and Ian Hill (bass)... they went through a few drummers, including (the late) Dave Holland and Scott Travis.

Their best album is Stained Class. Every song on it is fire. You guys will love "Beyond The Realms Of Death". It has the same great vocals, the ebbs and flows and a touching story lyrically. 70s Judas Priest is one of the best in hard rock, heavy metal.
Love the take on metal music. Metal back in the 70’s and 80’s was so much better than than metal singing that came later with death and black metal.
