    When they tell you "if you can play it slowly you can play it quickly" but you can't even play it slowly

    • @lucianorosica
      @lucianorosica  4 года назад +6

      Hahahaha, start very slow, very very slow, until you feel comfortable, then increase the speed little by little, always with the track behind you, with enough practice, you'll be able to play it in no time! Cheers!

      You're welcome bro! Thank you so much, your words means a lot, i decided to share this solo because no one did it and it's a very hard solo to learn by ear, it took me like a month to learn it by ear. Cheers Alex! Greetings from Argentina

    I’ve been playing this in Eb tuning starting on the 17th fret but I’m now very confused as to what the original tuning is. I see you are playing in standard on the 16th fret, is this how JP plays it?
    PS. Thanks for the amazing video, rock on!

      The song is originally played in Eb tuning, but, I played it on standard because if I wanted to tune to Eb, i would have to adjust the bridge and intonation, and for one song it was to much haha, cheers! Thanks for your comment!

      @@heavymetal9749 Yep, this video is outdated, there is a new one with my JP6. If you play it in standard tuning, there is no need for 24 or 22 frets

      Hi, the original tempo is 126bpm, I could not tell you in what bpm is this lesson, because I played it without metronome. Cheers!

    You're good, but:
    - the lead starts with a slide up one 4th. The trilled notes are: 6+6+1, not as many as you play;
    - the beginning is not all straightforward, he has quite a few double notes (left hand and pick not sync);
    - the ascending part of the beginning (from the low E string up) you got some wrong notes and the fretting is not correct;
    - the second pattern that ends with 2 sweeps is not exact. Time signatures wrong, you start the phrases from wrong notes ,and the pattern is not note-2nd-2nd-2nd and back, but note-3rd-2nd-2nd-2nd and back. Also JP fucks up twice on the second go of this (note-4th*2times-2nd-2nd and back, then a sudden sharp note next time);
    - 1st sweep ends on the 3rd string, 2nd sweep uses a string skip in the end;
    - bending part in the beginning: bend 1 and hold, pick the prebended note, bend/release 1.5 * two times, bend sharp of .5;
    - next part - wrong timing, wrong scale (just like in the end);
    - the long pattern is all played with 4 fingers per string, double 4th notes you hear are actually played on 2 adjacent strings;
    - the long pattern actually ends with a low 5th. The slide up is not a 2nd but also a 5th (only 1 octave higher);
    - after the slide, you used a wrong scale. The 4th note from the end is not another chromatic, it is a halfstep flat.

      Thanks for your comment, as you may know, it's difficult to learn by ear a piece like this solo and not having any errors, at the end, i dont think that this errors are to noticeable, but you could be right, I would like to see your version of this solo but corrected with the things you've commented, just to see how it sounds! Thanka and cheers!

      It seems that Luciano was very soft with his answer, or didn't have time to waste on you, I wiil not be so soft...
      1) The slide is irrelevant. I would like to know how you count the notes in that part. What is important is to play the notes and learn where to begin to make the descendant part. That is done intuitively by following the drums (that is changing between 5/8 and 6/8 time signatures).
      2) The double notes are Petrucci's justificable errors because of the speed of the solo.
      3) Unproven at that speed.
      4) Sweeps are correct. JP errors do not replicate. The rest is incomprehensible.
      5) That's not true, in his original solo, he plays the full range sweep. In his live perfomance, he does what you say.
      6) Incomprehensible.
      7) Not true.
      8) The pattern is not relevant as long as it sounds the same.
      9) Incomprehensible.
      10) Irrelevant, he used a variation just to get in time on that part.
      Conclusion: instead of talking to much, it would be good if you show us your solo, or if you don't know how to play the guitar (which is what I think), show us the correct tablature. Use your time on something constructive. Although looking at your youtube profile, with a single subscriber (that it might be yourself), your username should be "stupid onanist".
