Almost feels like the gossip stone trick was a bit of a debug feature but it's certainly interesting nonetheless! Awesome finds!
I dont know for sure but I wanna say it's more of a fail safe if you miss all your bombchu shots. I missed them all in the 3ds remake and looked up a guide then discovered the song still works in the remake too
Damn nigga. How do you found that shiat out?!?
@@timurkral3781 language
@@hazemimam6826 damn nigga
It's actually a reference to earlier in the game and I'm sure LB is saving it for a different episode so i won't spoil it
4:15 I remember learning about this in Ocarina of Time. At lake hylia, I would change the time of day and jump into the water to hear the funny underwater wolf howl. It's cool that the bells are affected by this too!
Same but with navis z targeting
I think what happen is that all sound effects are programmed the same way with a distortion effect added every time Link gets underwater. Like a switch or something.
On the note of the water droplets, I noticed one day that they react to all REAL geometry.
so underneath the graves I happened to see one crash into one of the stalagmites. And I wonder "Can you stand there??"
And to my astonishment it turns out you can jump off one of the stalagmites using the bunny hood to get from the second grave to the first. Its super helpful if you wanna save the First day for something else.
I can't believe I never knew they actually left a cardboard satsuma box in the final game―it's even more of an anachronism than the paper plane in Ikana!
Easter eggs that seem meant _For Dev Eyes Only_ are always some of the most interesting
considering majora's mask's short dev time, it's entirely possible it was intended to be a placeholder item only, and accidentally got left in.
@@TheStorne Probably a joke from the devs to be honest. An old, short hag standing on a common cardboard box ..
@@TheStorne Sometimes, Placeholder that aren't meant to be visible are left in. It's placeholders that are inevitably visibles (like wheel rims placeholders on a racing car) that must be removed.
"Fixing something cost money and ressources." That phrase can't be more true for a video game: Fixing a placeholder requires a level editor to remove the item, a compile team to...compile the new build, QA testers to make sure that the new build remain stable...
If it's not broken, don't fix it.
Whoa that mask in the Stock Pot Inn also has three rupees in the 3DS version! You have to use the restricted items trick to bomb it though because the Zora barrier is greyed out
So awesome to see these videos every time they’re in my recommended, Ocarina and Majora are so detailed and most people probably wouldn’t even know about half this stuff without these videos.
More detailed than those stupid ass Pokemon games from 2022!!
@@timurkral3781 the arceus one?
@@MasterSpud despite that I like the new gameplay formula, yeah Arceus lacks small details to be found. The world is "flat" in interactions.
@@euden_yt Oof, haven’t played it yet so can’t comment
@@timurkral3781 you mean from 2021? Arceus is ugly to look at in some ways but it's still pretty fun and interesting noneless.
I like how the tower in Clock Town ties in with the plot. They were supposed to build a bridge to the clock tower but the carpenters all ran off, which is why you need to do the whole moon tear trade quest. The boss is still there on the 3rd night, and he has different dialogue for the different Link transformations.
as a kid i always found #6 to be unexplainably funny, especially when the wolf howls
Another alternative way to beat a boss: You can stand at the entrance to Goht's lair and pelt him with Fire Arrows every time he passes. The pots with arrows and magic respawn infinitely. My brother and I found this out because our N64 controller was broken and you couldn't tilt forward on the analog stick all the way, making Goron racing impossible.
Also in the Odolwa boss battle. Goron Link can roll out of Odalwa's ring of fire.
I did not know about the Song of Storms opening the paths in the Moon's Twinmold mini-dungeon. I'll need to remember that the next time I play the game.
One thing I noticed a lot of people don't really talk about is in the Ikana Graveyard. On the second day, Dampe will complain about the large number of bats out. If you kill the bad bats flying around the graveyard, Dampe will give you some rupees for it.
Im pretty sure that's just common knowledge, it's not really hidden imo
I actually had no idea.
Don't think I've ever talked to Dampe on the 2nd day. Only the first day and during the bottle quest later.
Had no clue!
Dampe is my nigga
I guess the Japanese version has 5 times as many Skullwalltulas as the Western versions then?
I always unhorse Gekko with the Blast Mask. It requires no tricky timing and it completely trivializes the fight.
Nigga
neat.
@@lemmingscanfly5 neat to my ass
The funniest thing is that you don't even need to fight him to get the ice arrows. Right before entering the room you can jump as a Zora from the water and enter through the window and get the ice arrow for free. It's such a flexing move to get it that way... 😂
@@juanjosedelpinorivas7099 Ice arrows is an interesting way to spell boss key.
It hurts not to take the the heart peace.
This series was both very wholesome and informative! I enjoyed that you showed off so many details Nintendo put into this game that often go overlooked.
2:46 how is this even possible in a nintendo 64 game dude
I greatly appreciate the small things you do in you videos with the text. Ive seen you spell out the word "slowly" one letter at a time, and here you have Twinmold's name spelled in their two colors, and there are other examples in previous videos.
The little things like that show the true passion you all have for the series!
The distorted underwater sounds are also in Ocarina of Time!
4:44 i love being underwater as nighttime falls... that sound is just so hilarious 😆
The twinmold thing is what we do in Glitchless speedruns as we have Kokori Sword making Giant's mask extremely slow. Plus with single magic, giants mask resource management with low damage is a pain. We end up just skipping the chest entirely, haha. The hitbox is indeed wonky as the hitbox is only the inside diamond, not the entire tail, so it tends to feel like you shot right through it. Instead of 4 of each elemental type, however, we mix in regular arrow shots as 3 elemental + 1 normal shot is enough to kill. That way, with single magic, we should have plenty of shots for both twinmolds (although, I imagine top tier runners just don't miss their shots and they may be able to skip the normal bow shots, haha). For any inaccuracies, I must apologize, haven't ran the game since like 2017
Other cool secret, you can grow the plants of magic seeds using the songs of storms intead of using spring water
oh WOW that actually helps alot...
since I'm one for liking to find secrets in games like MM or OOT and I'm doing MM on my N64, this tip really helps!
So thanks Victor!
That was also a hint in the official game guide?
@@Orsuss i dont have that! :D
I tried this in OoT once and it sprouted out 3 fairies and some hearts as child Link. Only worked for the soil patch by the actual magic bean seller though. Couldn't get it to work anywhere else. Anybody else know of this?
I used to wish I could play Majoras Mask for the first time all over again. This series at least gets me close to that feeling learning new things about the game. Thanks for making these great videos!
@Y’vaan Same here. The part where you save the guy in the music box house in Ikana got me. Such an amazing game.
As fond and unforgettable my first ever playthrough of this game was, I will say that I was not the wisest when it came to figuring quests out by myself and had to watch videos for help a lot lmao. But seriously, I don’t think anybody was able to solve that couples quest without any help on first try, that was just so secretive and obsecure to figure out
I never knew about the extra grottos, in the Japanese version of the game, and it's cool to see that the Skullwalltulas behave in the same way that they do, in Ocarina of Time.
Just beat this game again two days ago. Honestly, mastahpiece. OoT was the GOAT, but this is #2 in my book.
That cardboard box was a smart detail lol
Lolololllololol
I'm gonna laugh until tomorrow because of this. Lololol
I read an article the other year that said the stars in the sky in Majora's Mask are different depending on the name on your save file. I don't think you've mentioned this, but you post so many pieces of information that my brain can't hold all of it!
So many immersive details for an N64 game, no wonder it's my favorite of all time.
DUDE, MINE TOO!
This is also my favorite n64 game, but banjo kazooie makes a close second
In the 3DS rerelease, the giants mask has Link punching Twinmold, and you get opportunities to grapple'em and do some honestly goofy looking moves
The enemy turtle monsters always sound like they’re saying “get wet” before spinning at link
In Woodfall, it sounded like "youre dead" to me.
I always heard "jackrabbit"
@@RyanStansberry i hear that and " yeah crab"
To me it's always been "cat crap".
Game was made within a year
It’s own creator has never seemed to be proud of it
And yet there is so much to majoras mask soo many details so many little things that go a long way
The distorted underwater sound effects are hilarious
When recently replaying the 3ds remake and the Switch port, I used that song of storms secret to skip the bombchu puzzles. I found them online cuz I was gonna be damned if I ran out of bonbchus…
That's likely the exact reason why the skips exist, in case players run out of bombchu
@@realoctolink64 Of course, you'd have to know this trick ahead of time, since nothing indicates its existence to the player, and even worse, you have to activate these things the room _before._ So you'd have to kill the Iron Knuckle to be able to go back to play the song to unlock the first room. I don't know why it's there, or how they expected anyone to know about it
@@chompythebeast Yeah, that is definitely very weird. 😅 Maybe they planned to put the secret in an issue of Nintendo Power or something. Or it could be something for testing
But they patched it in the 3DS version? The song of storms does not work on it. I've tried every OoT songs on 3DS to see if any worked and none (beside Song of Time and Epona's) works
It's actually unintentional, the flag for the puzzle completion was actually stored on the same bit as the "has fairy spawned from gossip stone" flag (which was implemented to stop people from farming faires from the stones) causing the two to overlap allowing the skip. 100% unintentional. In fact, if you do the puzzle normally then go to play the song at the gossip stone as, you would for the skip, a fairy will not spawn.
1:24 - When I was 6, I beat Twinmold with the arrow method because I was afraid of getting hit by worms.
I am in awe at the sheer number of details in OoT and MM that I clearly missed as a kid.
Wow I thought I knew everything about this game. I knew most of these ones but not the hidden rupees at the inn, not the goron pound against the enemies and definitely not the song of storms on the gossip stones trick.
I only found out about the Inn rupees because I'm playing an Allsanity Randomizer run. I only found out you need Zora Link because when I saw that the tracker was telling me I could get that location I started unticking what I'd ticked recently one by one until the tracker said I couldn't get it anymore. Really obscure, that.
That turtle/Gordon tactic is a cool call back to the turtle in a link to the past
I've always wondered why they changed the Deku Palace in the Western versions. Sometimes it's pretty obvious why they would change something between versions, but that is totally inexplicable.
Yeah shut up
it was kinda hard before it got changed.
Pacing. No reason to drag out a section that was already tough for most People to get right on their first playthrough. Maybe they should've added bombable rocks blocking these grotto's and if You came back later in the game You could get a Heart Piece for going through a chain of grotto's. The content going unused in the US/EU versions *IS* a shame but I think it was asking a bit much of the player who is still trying to get used to the 3 day limit. Majora's Mask is still pretty severe with it's crypticness as it is, the devs felt it was a tad too much for an early part of the game and I don't blame them. Possible I would've been fine with it but I don't represent everyone who plays this. Still reworking it into a heart piece challenge You seek out later would've been the best of both versions in my opinion
@@TheGameCreator13 oh yeah american version also added the ability to suspend your game at an owl statue right? for same reason, less frustration.
it's fascinating to me how eastern players are much more tolerant of a game not really respecting your time. I mean this is the country that had the BS Satellaview, where a game would be essentially 'broadcast' live, and you could only play it while it was up, for those hours, for that short period of the week, and then it was gone forever.. and we worry about online games getting taken down now.
@@KairuHakubi Well I never played the Japanese version so I'll take your word for it, it just didn't seem like one of those things that glaringly needed to be changed for the West, but if you've played both you'd know better than me.
4 kinda blew my mind a bit, I never noticed or paid mind to it before. The attention to little details like drops creating their own ripples and making a different sound hitting Link for something that itself is just a little occasional environment extra illustrates how the people making the game really cared.
Part 9 and I can't get enough of this
I already knew about the echoing underwater but still spot to new stuff learns as always with u ;) also she actually looks like she is hovering on the box lol
I am absolutely loving these custom camera angles.
I like how navi sounds under water I would put that as my notification sound instead of the original
I honestly can’t wait for your Zelda videos dude !
Okay, that last one is very useful because I always hated doing the bombchu puzzles in that level. I always ran out before I even got close to aligning them.
It's always great to see a new Looygi Bros video. I'm honestly surprised by some of the stuff you guys find, especially since it's not the usual common stuff you see other channels post.
Every night almost I'm delighted by a new video of this serie, thank you
I adore the Zelda gems you give us. 0 complaints. 10/10 would definitely recommend
NIIIICE! also, do more and different games and other kinds of vids as well, pls.
Song of Healing works on the gossip stones, too. The Song of Storms works because it did in OoT, Song of Healing works because... well, fairies heal you.
6:37
Those walls look pretty SUS!
Amazing content. Trivia and nostalgia is so good together
Back again! I’ll just keep adding this until hopefully you see it and put it in a future video:
During the fight with Majora’s Mask, when you get to Majora’s Wrath, if you do enough damage for it to start attacking you with the lasso tentacles, change into Deku Link. Because Deku Link is small and light, when Majora’s Wrath throws you over its shoulder, you can actually fly across the entire arena. If aimed just right, you can get it to throw you into the alcove where Majora’s Mask is stuck to the wall at the very beginning of the fight. This makes it nearly impossible for Majora to hit you. This is only doable in the N64 version. On 3DS they patched it and there’s an invisible barrier over the alcove.
thanks sharing so much love for majoras mask!
You guys never cease to amaze me
I wish I had known about that Gossip Stone trick years ago. There were several times where I had to restart because I ran out of Bombchus.
You can actually complete a heart container as Deku Link within the 1st 3 day cycle. You can obtain these 4 heart pieces in Clock Town as Deku Link during this cycle.
The 1st one can be obtained on the Clock Tower deck after trading the Moon’s Tear.
The 2nd one can be obtained by winning the postman’s game on nights 1 and 2.
The 3rd one can be obtained by trading the title deed at the inn after midnight.
The 4th one can be obtained by winning the Deku Playground game 3 times each day.
Moooore I can't get enough of these
6:20 thats a really sus room
the stuff in the human trial's actually unintentional, they accidentally had the "has spawned fairy" flag for the gossip stones (which is meant to stop the player from farming fairies off of gossip stones) to the same bit as the flags for ladder and door bars. if you do the puzzles normally and go back and try to get the fairies from the gossip stones nothing will happen.
This is how you make Link sit on a bench
Oh it's just the end
6:11 oh no...
They're everywhere
"Y'know what im talking about. Right?"
--->"Don't tell me..."
"Please no."
Another cool secret for a part 9 video, there is a alternate opening cutscene starting on romani ranch, after the game start and before normal cutscene play, press start two times to go to the file select, then just press B to go back to the altenate opening cutscene.
ruclips.net/video/3dwJk99iYFI/видео.html
The rupees in the Stock Pot Inn are easy to get early on in the N64 version, use the Deku bubbles
The B button isn't restricted indoors on the prologue cycle?
@@devonm042690 it is restricted
@@SpacePaincake I thought so. What's he talking about?
@@devonm042690 idk i do randomizers everyday and play majoras mask with ruppee randomizer and all those 3 green ruppee spots are included maybe he means the big clock outside the town mains area
I wonder if there is some special meaning behind the orange box, I know the Metal Gear Solid series uses orange boxes from time to time as well.
The distorted water effects are a feature carried over from Ocarina of Time.
My siblings and I would die of laughter whenever we caused this. We'd say we were drowning wolves and chickens. Good times...
2:17 pretty dank
awesome attention to detail!
I didn't know that Twinmold was defeatable by any means other than the Giant mask! That's neat.
And I knew that there were drops in the game, but I had no idea that they were so detailed! That's also neat.
Please make as many of these videos as possible. I’d love to see one with the older game boy titles.
Goron and Deku Link cannot be harmed by redeads or gibdos. This is because they are only designed to latch onto and attack young and adult Link, and Zora link shares the same frame as adult Link. :)
Vwey ieonic that the Twinmold boss kid activates secrets with the Song of Storms, just like in Ikana Canyon, where the way to that boss is found.
2:16 Man, thats why my boy link likes dungeons, he can get high and not precisely by using his hook
If you use the Bombchu Hover, you can actually go back through the door that led you to Clock Town...it's a real "trippy" experience. ;)
Another set of interesting things!
That is adorable that Kotake is standing on a Box XD
Neat that the Japanese Had more instances of Wall Skulltulas and You had to fight them cleverly because at that time you didn't have the Hero's Bow yet.
Didn't know that The Twinmold being vulnerable to Ice and Fire arrows or The Bombchu Puzzle Skip
Everything else I knew from playing the game and yeah it's great attention to details
Very interesting!
The last one was, indeed, a cool thing.
6:50 Huh, don't remember ever hearing this sound before. At least not in the remake.
The tower thing was so obvious, and then the water drops, I was like come on everybody noticed that... then you pointed out the different sound when the drop hits Link, and suddenly I'm blown away again.
Snappers are the funniest enemy. Gag wag 🐢
Impressive work
i knew that one with the underwatersound 😆 cause i think i remember i played mermaid when i was little, with the zora
I think the Bombchu puzzles being beaten by the Song of Storms is a failsafe in case you run out of Bombchus as well lol
I wish I knew that when I got "softlocked" in my first playthrough. I ended up reseting because I had no idea it was a thing
Fun fact, the first time I fought Twin mold I'd forgotten about the Giants mask I had found and never once thought about it so I killed them with arrows like shown. When I came back for the fairies and to fight it again I became giant because I noticed it in my inventory lol I was such a dumb kid I swear.
I remember running all the the damn sand hunting for magic jars and hearts. Also I played this constantly so it's not like I hadn't played in a while. I was just dumb.
Never would I thought the Song of Storms could do that!
I really know the most of MM by heart... but the last thing I didn't know at all
It makes me sad seeing the OG Twinmold fight being able to be done in multiple ways compared to the 3ds remake where you can only "Hulk Smash" it
If you hadn't noticed, three of four of the moon dungeons take their music and design from the dungeon corresponding with their remains.
2:02, it is more than time lapsed.
Funny thing was that I never knew before you could put on the giants mask so I had run out of arrows 4 times before I finally won. It was right after that I read the giants mask description and then I got super triggered
i like these cool things you didn't know videos
lets see more
I wonder if the arrows work with Twinmold in the 3DS remake. Considering how time consuming the boss battle is in that version this way could actually be easier.
Try it nigga!!
0:38, interesting.
So ive been watching these videos for a while and love the channel, but im noticing that everywhere online that i look, never mention HOW to get the rupees from the gong in the swordsman dojo. People either say "hit it" or "hit it X number of times". Nothing seems to mention that you have to hit it exactly at the O'clock or the X:30 time positions to get it. I always thought it was a cool detail, but it never gets mentioned anywhere lol
I don’t quite understand the last part, why does playing the song of storms next to a gossip stone “complete” the bombchu puzzles?
Probably a kind of glitch or a cheat for test players.
I suspect it's a failsafe. It ensures the player can _technically_ continue even if they use up all of their bombchus.
This is not very useful but I just found out that the 2 signs next to the Deku Palace entrance that are sticking out of the water on top of rocks can be hit with bombchus and have the rocks explode making the signs float/levitate in the water.
The sound of Link putting on the Zora Mask also distorted when used underwater.
In the potion shop from the witch there are also some hidden rupies :)
I didn't know about fire/ice hurting Twinmold. Gold arrows can hurt both of them.
