@Platypus Let me say again in 5e, which unless otherwise specified is generally what people speak about, there are no level requirements whatsoever in the official books when items magical, or not are concerned.
@Platypus My guess as to why that's written in there is, because its a hold over from past editions, because there were level restrictions back then. There's no level restrictions for items now though, there are however class, race, alignment, proficiency, and deity restrictions.

Yeah, so my friend hooked me up with some D&D (He's the game master) and my first character is a tiefling paladin. I showed this to him and his only reaction was "Well, yeah. That's basically what smite does". And belive me, once you hit these sweet-sweet one-shots, you are gonna smite and only SMITE. Who needs healing when the enemy is too dead to hurt you, am I right?

Best part is that Mike Mearls even said that you can use Smite with ranged weapons, and it changes nothing balance wise, and the only reason it was done was pure flavor text. Which means you can play a paladin with a bow, and yes it is awesome.

Just had my first campaign a couple months ago. Basically, i took out a space marine from WH40k and implemented it in DnD. So my character is a level 5 Dragonborn Paladin, and he’s pretty strong for a Paladin (path of the ancients for that sweet aura of warding at level 7), however, my DM must have lost his mind, because he FOR SOME REASON, thought it would be a good idea to provide me with the option to get the armor of invulnerability, aka, resistance to all non-magical damage. (Might’ve stolen it, but that’s besides the point) Once I hit level 7, I will have resistance to ALL types of damage, so... yeah

I've played a paladin for about a year now. I think I've actually casted a spell maybe twice and both of them were misty step, just so I could get close to SMITE

Okay, just found this series. A few notes:
1) That tiefling bard is killing me in this video
2) I LOVE the intros and outros with the table gradually getting more adorable figurines
3) The wobbly dragon (?) head mask is very endearing

I had to come back to this video that inspired me to make a paladin after losing my first D&D character. The "do you wanna tank do you wanna fight, do you want a class that will instill fright take up some plate and keep the goblins in sight cuz you wanna make sure they eat this paladin SMITE" stayed with with me ever since I was researching paladins and found this video last year. Just had my first campaign a couple months ago. Basically, i took out a space marine from WH40k and implemented it in DnD.
I basically got a paladin with a long sword and a blunderbuss yelling "die heretic!" to any enemy he came across. Also he may/may not want to "bomb" the entire continent to oblivion

So my character is a level 5 Dragonborn Paladin, and he’s pretty strong for a Paladin (path of the ancients for that sweet aura of warding at level 7), however, my DM must have lost his mind, because he FOR SOME REASON, thought it would be a good idea to provide me with the option to get the armor of invulnerability, aka, resistance to all non-magical damage. (Might’ve stolen it, but that’s besides the point) Once I hit level 7, I will have resistance to ALL types of damage, so... yeah

Well yes but actually no. You get resistance to *spell* damage and nonmagical damage. A dragon's fire breath is neither of the two for example.
