And still, this is coming after October after we have already had a 6 month content drought promising something BIG for us in June with the announcement. We've waited almost 3 years for a game that isn't filled with bugs, bots, delays and no end game content. And the war system, territory control and gold distribution rewarded 2% of the population. While the rest of the people begged for a new OPR map and many other things.
It has been made obvious that AGS isn't part of the player community, they are in business to make money. They have milked the last 5k players, which 50%+ are bots who don't buy skins, seasons and expansions. They have simply shifted their focus to the console players who they can continue to milk money from.
Is it suprise for u? We all knew it will be console, pvp island, we didn't know about soul trials, but we can expect it to be half baked shit feature like always. I still can't belive that's it even if I predicted it.

AGS has been lying to it's player base for over a year. We have been given Road Maps and told new content is coming for a long time, while all along AGS KNEW this was the plan. They intentionally mislead it's player base for a year.
The most frustrating part for the June Announcement was that it had mostly nothing to do with future content. They could have easily given us 2024 Roadmap with potential future updates while keeping the New World rebranding/console release thing for the June Announcement. Its been like half a day since the announcement and I havent learned anything new, and Ive really started hating that "Good things are coming ,but we cant reveal them now" thing that AGS has started doing. Back during launch, they at least were more open in communication of what they are planning and how the development is going. And as time goes on, I feel like we are going more and more off the rails with stringing us along with "great things" just out of reach, if only we could wait just a little little longer.

To be honest. I'm a player, casual solo dad gamer, 800+ hrs. And I think console is the perfect place for new world. Losing a few 10-20k pc gamers might be worth it to gain 100k console players. Difficult but smart decision as a business. TBH. Bittersweet for sure
Same here. If I had to choose a "favorite" game, it's New World. Casual gamer dad, I only get like 2-4 hours a week. It'll be nice if I could progress my game, do a round of Outpost, or do a quick Mut playing from the couch (with a drink in hand) after the Offspring's game as a wind down.

Almost a year ago I was sure they were trying to kill the game when they increased the price from game and DLC by more than 100% in SA (from $70 to $150), NW was so massive in SA, bigger in popularity than FF14, but they choose to kill the SA community making the DLC price almost the Baldur's Gate 3 price ($199), for comparison FF14 complete pack is $158, world of warrcraft full pack is $169, new world full pack is $352!! This is crazy and I'll never ever play any AGS game again in my entire life, they don't deserve any trust...

Some fucktard in senior management or marketing has made a shit sandwich here. They would have warned internally how this would play out. Of course if this is a success with console, then as a player portion we will become a rounding error on PC.
we should have all known they didnt care what their PC players said or wanted the day they shut down the forum and replaced it with a discord channel where they could delete anything they didnt like instantly and hide any evidence of it ever existing. ever since, their communication to us has consisted of saying things in videos and not showing things, which is what videos are for. another red flag. These same devs told us they had enough money from the launch alone to keep the lights on in the studio for a decade, and then immediately started selling us season passes and that "expansion" that was just a paywall for mounts. Profit is the only thing they care about and selling this to consoles while neglecting the PC players will deliver more of that and they'll get pats on the back from the corporate officers for doing it.
My roommate uninstalled New World 6 months ago and I haven't played it since just after Christmas myself. I've been quietly waiting for some good news with this announcement. *sigh* After telling my roommate about everything, his response was 'I guess I'll not be playing it again'. And now I'm seriously considering uninstalling it too.
PvP Update is actually huge. A reworked and expanded zone of Cutlass Keys with new open world PvP, with Loot drop mechanics and new progression system. The only wish i have is to make able participate for level 1. Add PvP Scaling, and locations with low levels so that lower level players can still participate and have content to do in Eternal Isle. They need separate progression also.

I'm not a confused angry player. They are trying to tap into another market before shutting down, and they knew what our reaction would be, which is why they waited until now to announce this so we'd keep p(l)aying for the last 7 months. They knew we would quit if they said they had shifted their dev resources to LOTR and no new xpac was coming.
I submitted feedback and told them i was going to stop purchasing Amazon games, if the players weren't rewarded in some way. Here we are and i will never purchase AGS games again. I spent money in cosmetics to keep them in business and helped new players learn the game. Soul-less people (duh its Amazon).
No Oddity, we are not deeply confused. We are mad and disappointed because they made promises of a big reveal, they made a joke of a video bluring the mouth of the presenters a putting music behind, and now the only thing "relevant" for the already existing players (not the ones that will come from console) is the swimming... Something that should came out with the game by default. I love this game, one of the few MMO's that really got me invested deeply, but this game is destined to go down. Believe me that when I say this, it breaks my heart.
I have been loyal since the Alpha tests, this has been my exclusive MMO/Live Service since launch. The game is heading in a direction that I don't feel I can follow. I am thinking I may need an extended break or to quit all together soon.
AS an MMO console player, I couldn't care less about new world coming to console. I'm pretty well versed in the MMO console space, have a history with FFXIV, ESO (current main MMO), Neverwinter, DCUO, and BDO. Haven't heard a single person excited for this game ... Honestly I haven't heard a single person ever mentioned this game in any of my guilds/FCs. There are so many reasons why I would be worried about this game on console, but as just a single example ...Cross play can be both a blessing and a curse. If the game is still predominantly PVP focused ... And if it allows add-ons on PC, then it's just not going to make console players happy. PVP games with crossplay on console sometimes end up giving console players an option to opt out of cross play with PC players (e.g., SoT). Or like in ESO, they just don't have crossplay with PC. In fact the only thing that they did well was, if they were marketing for console, emphasizing the solo play. Console players are in my opinion much more likely to be solo MMO players. Less concerned often with meta builds, and more concerned with enjoying the story of a game. It's definitely a more casual community, at least in ESO. The fact that the servers are separated in ESO is also because of this reason. And the lack of add-ons on console, which give PC players huge unfair advantages.
I wouldn't go to hard on the "Devs". Amazon is a very top down management company and I would bet that the decision to make this change came from way upon high in corporate down to AGS.
Previous Dev Updates were for New World the early access game that is just finishing its beta. This Dev Update was the first one of New World: Aeternum the relaunched game for a new audience. Us beta players are a lost cause for them.

Meanwhile those that bought the base game for $40 will need to pay more money in order to play the game. You’ll need the base game as well as the expansion in order to play New World aEtErNuM. Last night I was heated. I was so frustrated and angry. After watching this video and thinking things over, this can be really good for the game. I’m actually a little excited. This is likely what New World needs to succeed and not die.
Obviously, dedicated players for the last 3 years such as myself, it’s disappointing to not have this targeted at me. I’ve done all the content. I’ve waited years for a new PvP battleground. I’ve waited years for ranked 3v3 arenas. It didn’t come. This was supposed to be it finally. It’s not, and that was disappointing. I love the game, and I want it to succeed. I have 5.5k hours logged. I want my time to not be for nothing. This might be the only chance to have that time not be for nothing. Last chance for AGS. If this doesn’t go well, and we don’t get real updates for PvP players in the next year after this “relaunch”, it will be GG.

Should have named this upcoming expansion as Angry Players after their dismal Angry Earth expansion. Next year, they can come up with another Angry Dev expansion. Thereafter, Angry Boss expansion, and the game will end with Angry Boss expansion because the bosses shut it down after years of losses.

New World was probably a success in sales and a failure as a live-service game. My guess is they're cutting their losses and doing what Wayfinder is planning to do. They will add an offline mode and present the game as a solo experience for people and cut continued live support while they move on to other projects. I think it's the right call.
We are basically going to wait an entire year post expansion (where they made tons of profit) for any meaningful content. That's the jist of it. Not even balance changes, no timely bug fixes. They have set the bar so low and they continue to fail at even the minimum expectations. Personally I am for once highly debating uninstalling. It's like I'm in a toxic relationship with this game.
Hey AGS - go back and grab a 2019/2020 era alpha build of New World, polish that up and release it into a standalone survival crafting game like it was always meant to be (like it used to be). 3K hour player here… I left a long time ago… they made the choice to develop a console game and never update there actual game on pc.. makes sense now when I see this why the game hasn’t been updated in so long
My thing is even if there is cross play, cross server play. Our servers are still going to be dead. Console players will be on fresh start servers which means we either reroll to have a large population or our situation is the same. This isn’t enough content for players to come back - and if they did most would likely go fresh start. PC gamers are still at the same place population wise even if AGS manages to convince a bunch of people to buy it for console.

No one is starting new world and wanting to play against people who have maxed accounts that they have spent 1k+ hours, where the economy is ruined, and the drama is high. Console needs fresh servers. Throwing them into legacy servers would ensure that console players wouldn’t buy the game.

When they talk about the pvp I wonder if they’re talking about wars (the real pvp scene). I think this game forgets the best content in this game is the war scene , their most loyal player base are mainly war players. We OPR consistently and War on 4 different servers to continue to get that type of content. It’s somewhere the best PvP players play against each other since all the other content is dead to us. If they actually listened to their higher tier players , game could be better and players would return. I think the most annoying thing is a game breaking bug happens every patch and they take 5-8 months to fix it.

The gorgon is only 4 players in the video I hope it's a new expedition and raid is something else, maybe something with the big red portal in trailer, more deep corruption raid since it is the main story thing about New World. I hope the corrupted portals will be a bigger open world events getting value in the world, because there was no news about more open world activity. Unless the Sand Worm is out in the world as an event since it was not in the arena.
Asking for a refund (even if you are out of the 2-hours/2-week rule) and reviewing bombing is the best thing we can do. If the negative reviews reach 85% Valve will ultimatum AGS. This will lead AGS to make a choice: Or give New World: Aeternum for free for those who bought New World as well, or deal with Valve will do. Valve, in this case, will do one of two things: Open the refund option to everyone regardless of the 2-hours/2-week rule, or force a refund to everyone, the same way it happened with The Day Before.

To be honest. I'm a player, casual solo dad gamer, 800+ hrs. And I think console is the perfect place for new world. Losing a few 10-20k pc gamers might be worth it to gain 100k console players. Difficult but smart decision as a business. TBH. Bittersweet for sure
Same here. If I had to choose a "favorite" game, it's New World. Casual gamer dad, I only get like 2-4 hours a week. It'll be nice if I could progress my game, do a round of Outpost, or do a quick Mut playing from the couch (with a drink in hand) after the Offspring's game as a wind down.

it was that pre-annoucenemnt. there was a slight drop last night after the annoucement where it went to 4300-4400 users but today it spiked back up again because new world players are weak as shit and have no self respect or backbone. Addicted to being abused.
Almost a year ago I was sure they were trying to kill the game when they increased the price from game and DLC by more than 100% in SA (from $70 to $150), NW was so massive in SA, bigger in popularity than FF14, but they choose to kill the SA community making the DLC price almost the Baldur's Gate 3 price ($199), for comparison FF14 complete pack is $158, world of warrcraft full pack is $169, new world full pack is $352!!
This is crazy and I'll never ever play any AGS game again in my entire life, they don't deserve any trust...

we should have all known they didnt care what their PC players said or wanted the day they shut down the forum and replaced it with a discord channel where they could delete anything they didnt like instantly and hide any evidence of it ever existing. ever since, their communication to us has consisted of saying things in videos and not showing things, which is what videos are for. another red flag. These same devs told us they had enough money from the launch alone to keep the lights on in the studio for a decade, and then immediately started selling us season passes and that "expansion" that was just a paywall for mounts. Profit is the only thing they care about and selling this to consoles while neglecting the PC players will deliver more of that and they'll get pats on the back from the corporate officers for doing it.
My roommate uninstalled New World 6 months ago and I haven't played it since just after Christmas myself. I've been quietly waiting for some good news with this announcement. *sigh*
After telling my roommate about everything, his response was 'I guess I'll not be playing it again'. And now I'm seriously considering uninstalling it too.
PvP Update is actually huge. A reworked and expanded zone of Cutlass Keys with new open world PvP, with Loot drop mechanics and new progression system.
The only wish i have is to make able participate for level 1. Add PvP Scaling, and locations with low levels so that lower level players can still participate and have content to do in Eternal Isle. They need separate progression also.

AGS has absolutely decided "fk the PC players". They only care about being a console game now. They have 100% given up on being a PC game.

an NDA about console release dates doesnt excuse them not telling us about the content (or lack thereof) for the PC game we paid for, for months.The whole "wait for june" thing is now obviously just a lie and a ploy on their part to keep us buying things until the last minute.

What I personally feel like is that they said oki look we have about 30k worldwide players, Lets rebrand and focus on getting 2mill console players, yes we will upset our 30k but that's only 30k compared to the 2mill we can possibly get.

I quit playing new world and I was going to come back I was real excited about all these updates so pretty much they lied to all of us all they care is about consoles to make more money they don't care about PC players it's all about the money in their pocket as much as I hate to say I will not be back within a year this game will be dead after this stunt day just pulled
I'm not a confused angry player. They are trying to tap into another market before shutting down, and they knew what our reaction would be, which is why they waited until now to announce this so we'd keep p(l)aying for the last 7 months. They knew we would quit if they said they had shifted their dev resources to LOTR and no new xpac was coming.
I submitted feedback and told them i was going to stop purchasing Amazon games, if the players weren't rewarded in some way. Here we are and i will never purchase AGS games again. I spent money in cosmetics to keep them in business and helped new players learn the game. Soul-less people (duh its Amazon).

No Oddity, we are not deeply confused. We are mad and disappointed because they made promises of a big reveal, they made a joke of a video bluring the mouth of the presenters a putting music behind, and now the only thing "relevant" for the already existing players (not the ones that will come from console) is the swimming... Something that should came out with the game by default. I love this game, one of the few MMO's that really got me invested deeply, but this game is destined to go down. Believe me that when I say this, it breaks my heart.
I have been loyal since the Alpha tests, this has been my exclusive MMO/Live Service since launch. The game is heading in a direction that I don't feel I can follow. I am thinking I may need an extended break or to quit all together soon.

AS an MMO console player, I couldn't care less about new world coming to console. I'm pretty well versed in the MMO console space, have a history with FFXIV, ESO (current main MMO), Neverwinter, DCUO, and BDO. Haven't heard a single person excited for this game ... Honestly I haven't heard a single person ever mentioned this game in any of my guilds/FCs.
There are so many reasons why I would be worried about this game on console, but as just a single example ...Cross play can be both a blessing and a curse. If the game is still predominantly PVP focused ... And if it allows add-ons on PC, then it's just not going to make console players happy.
PVP games with crossplay on console sometimes end up giving console players an option to opt out of cross play with PC players (e.g., SoT).
Or like in ESO, they just don't have crossplay with PC.
In fact the only thing that they did well was, if they were marketing for console, emphasizing the solo play. Console players are in my opinion much more likely to be solo MMO players. Less concerned often with meta builds, and more concerned with enjoying the story of a game. It's definitely a more casual community, at least in ESO. The fact that the servers are separated in ESO is also because of this reason. And the lack of add-ons on console, which give PC players huge unfair advantages.

I wouldn't go to hard on the "Devs". Amazon is a very top down management company and I would bet that the decision to make this change came from way upon high in corporate down to AGS.

Previous Dev Updates were for New World the early access game that is just finishing its beta. This Dev Update was the first one of New World: Aeternum the relaunched game for a new audience. Us beta players are a lost cause for them.
I’ve never seen someone release the same game 3 years later. They are congratulating themselves again. Meanwhile those that bought the base game for $40 will need to pay more money in order to play the game. You’ll need the base game as well as the expansion in order to play New World aEtErNuM. Robbed!
What it means is that they keep on supporting it and developing for it. No new world 2 in the coming 2 or even 3 years. It also confirms what we all thought "the definitive" experience to the release is what new world should've been on release day ! No new content? Ofc there is no new content, they just now fucking released it as a complete game !
Anyway, nothing like new world out there, so we keep on holding and i think that soon there will be new content, its the logical progression.

Last night I was heated. I was so frustrated and angry. After watching this video and thinking things over, this can be really good for the game. I’m actually a little excited. This is likely what New World needs to succeed and not die.
Obviously, dedicated players for the last 3 years such as myself, it’s disappointing to not have this targeted at me. I’ve done all the content. I’ve waited years for a new PvP battleground. I’ve waited years for ranked 3v3 arenas. It didn’t come. This was supposed to be it finally. It’s not, and that was disappointing. I love the game, and I want it to succeed. I have 5.5k hours logged. I want my time to not be for nothing. This might be the only chance to have that time not be for nothing. Last chance for AGS. If this doesn’t go well, and we don’t get real updates for PvP players in the next year after this “relaunch”, it will be GG.
We just need to see that censored video uncensored now, so we know it was a genuine interview and not just a scripted performance with so much "cool new stuff".

Should have named this upcoming expansion as Angry Players after their dismal Angry Earth expansion. Next year, they can come up with another Angry Dev expansion. Thereafter, Angry Boss expansion, and the game will end with Angry Boss expansion because the bosses shut it down after years of losses.

Announcing classes, on top of the new raid, and maybe "Dailies" or some kind of power grind that lasts for an update is what was needed. They announced "Transmog and housing" as end game. Seriously?
New World was probably a success in sales and a failure as a live-service game. My guess is they're cutting their losses and doing what Wayfinder is planning to do. They will add an offline mode and present the game as a solo experience for people and cut continued live support while they move on to other projects. I think it's the right call.
We are basically going to wait an entire year post expansion (where they made tons of profit) for any meaningful content. That's the jist of it. Not even balance changes, no timely bug fixes. They have set the bar so low and they continue to fail at even the minimum expectations. Personally I am for once highly debating uninstalling. It's like I'm in a toxic relationship with this game.
Hey AGS - go back and grab a 2019/2020 era alpha build of New World, polish that up and release it into a standalone survival crafting game like it was always meant to be (like it used to be). Charge $30 ish for it. That project will absolutely dwarf whatever the fuck you're trying to do here. This is just so sad at this point.
I mean yes i can understand the frustration from the current playerbase, they want more content, for them this isnt any new content, everybody understands that, but think of it this way, now at least everybody will be able to play together much easier!
3K hour player here… I left a long time ago… they made the choice to develop a console game and never update there actual game on pc.. makes sense now when I see this why the game hasn’t been updated in so long

The whole time, they lied and the developers were using the PC players as alpha testers to resolve the millions of bugs they made.
My thing is even if there is cross play, cross server play. Our servers are still going to be dead. Console players will be on fresh start servers which means we either reroll to have a large population or our situation is the same. This isn’t enough content for players to come back - and if they did most would likely go fresh start. PC gamers are still at the same place population wise even if AGS manages to convince a bunch of people to buy it for console.
The entire fresh start server thing should of never been a thing, blame the community for that one

No one is starting new world and wanting to play against people who have maxed accounts that they have spent 1k+ hours, where the economy is ruined, and the drama is high. Console needs fresh servers. Throwing them into legacy servers would ensure that console players wouldn’t buy the game.

When they talk about the pvp I wonder if they’re talking about wars (the real pvp scene). I think this game forgets the best content in this game is the war scene , their most loyal player base are mainly war players. We OPR consistently and War on 4 different servers to continue to get that type of content. It’s somewhere the best PvP players play against each other since all the other content is dead to us. If they actually listened to their higher tier players , game could be better and players would return. I think the most annoying thing is a game breaking bug happens every patch and they take 5-8 months to fix it.
Wait 6 months for a console announcement that we already knew was coming from all of the hints they were throwing to the winds and now wait 4 more months for the "actual content" to really come... right.
I love this game, but the disappointement is heavy right now...
The gorgon is only 4 players in the video I hope it's a new expedition and raid is something else, maybe something with the big red portal in trailer, more deep corruption raid since it is the main story thing about New World. I hope the corrupted portals will be a bigger open world events getting value in the world, because there was no news about more open world activity. Unless the Sand Worm is out in the world as an event since it was not in the arena.
Asking for a refund (even if you are out of the 2-hours/2-week rule) and reviewing bombing is the best thing we can do. If the negative reviews reach 85% Valve will ultimatum AGS. This will lead AGS to make a choice: Or give New World: Aeternum for free for those who bought New World as well, or deal with Valve will do. Valve, in this case, will do one of two things: Open the refund option to everyone regardless of the 2-hours/2-week rule, or force a refund to everyone, the same way it happened with The Day Before.
Wait does that mean that I as a player who Hates PVP, and will NEVER play PVP will not be able to go to Cutlass keys anymore? that's where i fish
