AGS: "wait 6 months for our big announcement of secrets you already knew about"
Imagine waiting nearly 3 years for a new OPR map, and the reason was because they've been too busy installing monetization, skins, micro-transactions, seasons and expansion. They have simply changed their focus to the new cash cow.
For real. I was a deeeep into NW. 1000+ hours in it. Loved it. Stopped playing about 8 months ago because the content drought was noticeable. I was waiting for this announcement to either come back and play it or just completely hide the game from my library. Looks like I’m going route 2 and just hiding the game and never return to it. Fuuuuck AGS and new world.

We've waited almost 3 years for a game that isn't filled with bugs, bots, delays and no end game content. And the war system, territory control and gold distribution rewarded 2% of the population. While the rest of the people begged for a new OPR map and many other things.

We were lied to, plain and simple. No meaningful content in 6+ months, and tbh even longer. We were told this was worth the wait when none of it was for us - period.

They needed you to keep the player numbers up and buying those ugly skins. Now the dev video pretended you didn't even exist and they've clearly changed their focus to their new cash cow.

And still, this is coming after October after we have already had a 6 month content drought promising something BIG for us in June with the announcement. Very poorly done, tonedeaf presentation, showing us only that they do not care about your experience once you’ve already purchased the game.

It has been made obvious that AGS isn't part of the player community, they are in business to make money. They have milked the last 5k players, which 50%+ are bots who don't buy skins, seasons and expansions. They have simply shifted their focus to the console players who they can continue to milk money from.

AGS has a track record of over promising and under delivering, except their Amazon Prime, they should stick to delivering packages and away from games and movies.
For months they made this sound like a massive update that would make everyone feel like the complete lack of content all year was worth the wait. Then they literally announce the few little things everyone already knew were coming, most of which aren't content (i.e. console release). Basically a raid, a pvp zone that they will probably botch completely, and a gear score hike to try and dangle that carrot out a little further. Game is over on PC. These Devs are clueless.
It worked, they kept you players filled with hopium and copium only to find out it's the same song and dance. They are finally adding swimming, that should tell you something. That's now their priority after all these years and the long list of things people wanted and needed? AGS stands for Again Game Sucks.
I quit when 625 was cap. I just can't hop onto the system when it hiked up onto 700.
AGS has been lying to it's player base for over a year. We have been given Road Maps and told new content is coming for a long time, while all along AGS KNEW this was the plan. They intentionally mislead it's player base for a year.
Imagine being a PVP player thinking you're finally going to get a new OPR map.

By far the worst marketing and communication by a recent mmo thus far. This wasn’t worth the silence. This was a big announcement, but I’m not sure this was worth it

The most frustrating part for the June Announcement was that it had mostly nothing to do with future content. They could have easily given us 2024 Roadmap with potential future updates while keeping the New World rebranding/console release thing for the June Announcement.
Its been like half a day since the announcement and I havent learned anything new, and Ive really started hating that "Good things are coming ,but we cant reveal them now" thing that AGS has started doing. Back during launch, they at least were more open in communication of what they are planning and how the development is going. And as time goes on, I feel like we are going more and more off the rails with stringing us along with "great things" just out of reach, if only we could wait just a little little longer.
We were told to come back in 7 months for a big announcement to just be told to come back in another 5 for console release.
They were quite cause there was nothing for us PC players
Imagine waiting for the past years for things to be fixed and added only to find out they've been working only on ways to monetize more profits from the millions of copies they sold to the PC players. It's never enough, they want you to fund their mistakes now.
This is actually worse than I expected. I'm impressed, AGS actually reached a new low for me.

They really sat there and explained the game as if we have not been playing it for years. They should have said months ago that this update was for console players.
This feels like a "Do you guys not have phones" kinda moment. Pushing for a population and ignoring the current one felt like the last 6 months were a troll.

Anyone not a complete fanboy saw the writing on the wall at launch. Another over-hyped MMO that would hemorrhage players until it got Old Yeller’d. AGS is in the “milk it for everything we can get out it” phase, and still people act mystified. Incredible.

The bugs in this game are only outmatched by the epic fails of AGS management.
That dev youtube vid a while back when they was outside in the streets when a funeral was passing by was for new world pc, devs should be fired immediately and the Romanian devs put in charge, they can't be any slower or clueless than the current ones.
Personally, I wish that they would completely transition to a single player RPG, redo the quest line, dungeons etc and have a huge single player RPG

To be honest. I'm a player, casual solo dad gamer, 800+ hrs. And I think console is the perfect place for new world. Losing a few 10-20k pc gamers might be worth it to gain 100k console players. Difficult but smart decision as a business. TBH. Bittersweet for sure
Same here. If I had to choose a "favorite" game, it's New World. Casual gamer dad, I only get like 2-4 hours a week. It'll be nice if I could progress my game, do a round of Outpost, or do a quick Mut playing from the couch (with a drink in hand) after the Offspring's game as a wind down.

Honestly, I’m upset. But didn’t expect much from these guys. I did want more for us PC players. They let us down time and time again. But this one was just insane. Nothing for PC players.
I want to believe they just havent announced the new stuff yet.
The article mentions all the new content coming to the game in october but the trailer doesn't show any of that. Which is a little bizarre? Unless I'm mis understanding something.
By the time this update drops it will have been a ENTIRE YEAR. between content updates. And the content we are getting is like good for a season at best
I quit playing a month after the DLC came out, after having 3k hours since launch. New World needs to die.
PvP Update is actually huge. A reworked and expanded zone of Cutlass Keys with new open world PvP, with Loot drop mechanics and new progression system.
The only wish i have is to make able participate for level 1. Add PvP Scaling, and locations with low levels so that lower level players can still participate and have content to do in Eternal Isle. They need separate progression also.

My roommate uninstalled New World 6 months ago and I haven't played it since just after Christmas myself. I've been quietly waiting for some good news with this announcement. *sigh*
After telling my roommate about everything, his response was 'I guess I'll not be playing it again'. And now I'm seriously considering uninstalling it too.

Today at 2 PT Ign live on twitch with the dev team hopefully they address some of them mess from yesterday's big announcement. But don't hold your breath as we clearly cannot swim.
Today you are bang on Jay. Alot off miss messaging on the run up to this dev update. At no point was I expecting a re presentation of the game.
Some fucktard in senior management or marketing has made a shit sandwich here. They would have warned internally how this would play out.
Of course if this is a success with console, then as a player portion we will become a rounding error on PC.

Yeah so many people on steam are going crazy thinking that the mmo aspect is disappearing and that they won't be able to play the game if they don't buy angry earth.
To be honest I was one of those people last night after the update but then I looked into it properly and found out it was just bad communication.

I was thinking this a while ago, but now i mean it, clean house and fire leads. This game has been out YEARS and they couldnt find out how to bring back even a tiny 10% of their all time high players. Its been out YEARS and they dont even call themselves an MMO and have content for players

we should have all known they didnt care what their PC players said or wanted the day they shut down the forum and replaced it with a discord channel where they could delete anything they didnt like instantly and hide any evidence of it ever existing. ever since, their communication to us has consisted of saying things in videos and not showing things, which is what videos are for. another red flag. These same devs told us they had enough money from the launch alone to keep the lights on in the studio for a decade, and then immediately started selling us season passes and that "expansion" that was just a paywall for mounts. Profit is the only thing they care about and selling this to consoles while neglecting the PC players will deliver more of that and they'll get pats on the back from the corporate officers for doing it.
Almost a year ago I was sure they were trying to kill the game when they increased the price from game and DLC by more than 100% in SA (from $70 to $150), NW was so massive in SA, bigger in popularity than FF14, but they choose to kill the SA community making the DLC price almost the Baldur's Gate 3 price ($199), for comparison FF14 complete pack is $158, world of warrcraft full pack is $169, new world full pack is $352!!
This is crazy and I'll never ever play any AGS game again in my entire life, they don't deserve any trust...
Previous Dev Updates were for New World the early access game that is just finishing its beta. This Dev Update was the first one of New World: Aeternum the relaunched game for a new audience. Us beta players are a lost cause for them.
Now you all need to remember the dev video where that cow was laughing at you through her teeth while censuring her words that in reality were nothing about new world. How many times will you allow these devs to mock you like that?
No Oddity, we are not deeply confused. We are mad and disappointed because they made promises of a big reveal, they made a joke of a video bluring the mouth of the presenters a putting music behind, and now the only thing "relevant" for the already existing players (not the ones that will come from console) is the swimming... Something that should came out with the game by default. I love this game, one of the few MMO's that really got me invested deeply, but this game is destined to go down. Believe me that when I say this, it breaks my heart.
What I personally feel like is that they said oki look we have about 30k worldwide players, Lets rebrand and focus on getting 2mill console players, yes we will upset our 30k but that's only 30k compared to the 2mill we can possibly get.

3K hour player here… I left a long time ago… they made the choice to develop a console game and never update there actual game on pc.. makes sense now when I see this why the game hasn’t been updated in so long

it was that pre-annoucenemnt. there was a slight drop last night after the annoucement where it went to 4300-4400 users but today it spiked back up again because new world players are weak as shit and have no self respect or backbone. Addicted to being abused.
its very easy to see the name/edition change for new world to new world aeternum, there gonna probably make a tv show and they cant use the title new world since theres already a series called that, adding aeternum onto the title allows them to make the tv show giving the game the fallout treatment
What it means is that they keep on supporting it and developing for it. No new world 2 in the coming 2 or even 3 years. It also confirms what we all thought "the definitive" experience to the release is what new world should've been on release day ! No new content? Ofc there is no new content, they just now fucking released it as a complete game !
Anyway, nothing like new world out there, so we keep on holding and i think that soon there will be new content, its the logical progression.

I quit playing new world and I was going to come back I was real excited about all these updates so pretty much they lied to all of us all they care is about consoles to make more money they don't care about PC players it's all about the money in their pocket as much as I hate to say I will not be back within a year this game will be dead after this stunt day just pulled

I have been loyal since the Alpha tests, this has been my exclusive MMO/Live Service since launch. The game is heading in a direction that I don't feel I can follow. I am thinking I may need an extended break or to quit all together soon.

Should have named this upcoming expansion as Angry Players after their dismal Angry Earth expansion. Next year, they can come up with another Angry Dev expansion. Thereafter, Angry Boss expansion, and the game will end with Angry Boss expansion because the bosses shut it down after years of losses.
an NDA about console release dates doesnt excuse them not telling us about the content (or lack thereof) for the PC game we paid for, for months.The whole "wait for june" thing is now obviously just a lie and a ploy on their part to keep us buying things until the last minute.

Announcing classes, on top of the new raid, and maybe "Dailies" or some kind of power grind that lasts for an update is what was needed. They announced "Transmog and housing" as end game. Seriously?
The recent reveal was underwhelming, and the game still lacks substantial content updates. The absence of a new Outpost Rush map, despite requests for two years, is concerning. Additionally, the lack of new weapons and significant updates in recent seasons is disappointing. While the concept of seasons is appreciated, the content provided thus far has been insufficient. A comprehensive update is necessary to address these issues and improve the overall state of the game.
Now i am regretting not buying an AoC A2 test package.
I submitted feedback and told them i was going to stop purchasing Amazon games, if the players weren't rewarded in some way. Here we are and i will never purchase AGS games again. I spent money in cosmetics to keep them in business and helped new players learn the game. Soul-less people (duh its Amazon).
I mean yes i can understand the frustration from the current playerbase, they want more content, for them this isnt any new content, everybody understands that, but think of it this way, now at least everybody will be able to play together much easier!

I'm not a confused angry player. They are trying to tap into another market before shutting down, and they knew what our reaction would be, which is why they waited until now to announce this so we'd keep p(l)aying for the last 7 months. They knew we would quit if they said they had shifted their dev resources to LOTR and no new xpac was coming.
I wouldn't go to hard on the "Devs". Amazon is a very top down management company and I would bet that the decision to make this change came from way upon high in corporate down to AGS.

Every bit of content can be played from MENU, Open world is irrelevant, Group content is instanced (Elite chests are not group content) - its a player created gameplay style through exploits and game mechanics)

Console players, before buying the game keep this in mind, they handicapped the game for 6 months promising some big update and then shat on the playerbase as if the existing players doesn't matter.
what they are doing is essentially adding more content to the "angry earth" expansion, its like the PvP island and all of that is now included in the dlc, which is better to have the same dlc get it rather than a third dlc pc players would have to buy, and base game players are not gonna get the content cause they need money for the work they have put into the content :O
We just need to see that censored video uncensored now, so we know it was a genuine interview and not just a scripted performance with so much "cool new stuff".

Current players already tanked. "Relaunching" as a console game with great solo = millions of potential. It makes absolutely sense.
no it hasn't these people are addicts. It dropped down to 4400 last night but today its back at 6000 which is what it was pre-announcement so it didn't affect anything. New World players are just all talk. That's why they keep getting slapped in the AGS. AGS is an abusive father and the kids keep coming back doing whatever they can to seek approval.
Hey AGS - go back and grab a 2019/2020 era alpha build of New World, polish that up and release it into a standalone survival crafting game like it was always meant to be (like it used to be). Charge $30 ish for it. That project will absolutely dwarf whatever the fuck you're trying to do here. This is just so sad at this point.

Last night I was heated. I was so frustrated and angry. After watching this video and thinking things over, this can be really good for the game. I’m actually a little excited. This is likely what New World needs to succeed and not die.
Obviously, dedicated players for the last 3 years such as myself, it’s disappointing to not have this targeted at me. I’ve done all the content. I’ve waited years for a new PvP battleground. I’ve waited years for ranked 3v3 arenas. It didn’t come. This was supposed to be it finally. It’s not, and that was disappointing. I love the game, and I want it to succeed. I have 5.5k hours logged. I want my time to not be for nothing. This might be the only chance to have that time not be for nothing. Last chance for AGS. If this doesn’t go well, and we don’t get real updates for PvP players in the next year after this “relaunch”, it will be GG.
