It's cool to see how many options someone has to modify their switches and the different ways to mix and match. A metal switch with gold buttons doesn't sound as farfetched of an idea anymore.
Awesome video Bob as always! Thank you for taking the time to take a look at these shells! I'm glad you now have a reason to use your Switch Lite more and that you now have another set of tweezers 😀 Cheers buddy!
And here I thought I was spoiling my Switch Lite by upgrading from a soft case to a deluxe travel case. Also, upgrades like these nowadays make me think "Do I want a snazzy-looking Switch Lite? Or do I want to drive my car?"
If this chassis can be aluminium I would love to see a version with a rainbow pvd coating. It's basically a glossy rainbow colour that would look so cool on a console like this.
The sticky joy con button is from putting in that button at the wrong angle. Mine were doing this too and I took them apart and noticed the bottom of the buttons have a very particular shape to them that tells you how they should sit in the shell. Hope this helps.
My wife walked in when the couch ad came on. She's been wanting to get a wrap around couch, but she hasn't found on the right size. This is perfect. But I love the one we have, It's a soft leather that's easy to clean and has power recliners on each side. Might try and put it in my office, if it fits. Guess I'm moving my work bench in the attic... lol
@slide man I don't expect them to drop it and I understand the price. Used to work at American Aluminum Extrusion. Personally I can't justify it. I would still put a grip on it.
@@ragnarocknroll9445 nah nvm I thought u was talking about the switch lite not the case this case is hella overpriced even $100 is a lot I would say $50 is reasonable
I enjoy your videos quite a bit, good detail, entertaining sponsor segments and you promote other content creators instead of only making your own content to do the same thing as they did. One of the best subscription choices I ever made in gaming. Thanks wulff den!
The joy cons make my heart flutter, but I'm not 100% on the Lite shell. What I am 100% on, though, is this video! Thanks for another great upload, Bob!
Looks sweet, but I would definitely only do this with a gray Switch Lite. I like the indigo color we have and wouldn't want to mess with it or combine silver and indigo.
It's definitely a lot of money. IF I'd exclusively play handheld, I'd buy a Switch lite and I'd definitely do this mod. It looks great and the extra rigidity while travelling is worth it.
Watching this video made me remember that I have a Switch Lite. It was great for 2 months but I think the screen is too small and I hate the fact I can’t dock it so I switched back to my OG switch and literally forgot I had the Lite. Thanks for reminding me now I will go find it after this video
Dang, you got me with the product placement. Glasses bob was wearing the varsity style hoodie in the ad spot and that made me remember they were available and I picked one up.
I've watched these so long but have no intentions of doing the mods. I really just watch this channel for your deadpan humor/charisma and the aesthetics of these Switch mods. I would love to do some of these mods if I had the budget to have an extra Switch but alas I do not and on top of that I'd be too afraid to really get into prying open a system afraid I would mess something up. I have started tinkering with broken past gen handhelds I've picked up at thrift shops and garage sales for super cheap and I think that's a good place to start experimenting with simple beginner modding.
Love the video. (the look on Wood's face LOL) I have seen Macho's video but is always nice to see other people try it and give their experience with it.
Personally i love love LOVE the look of metal things, but i typically dont get them because i live in a place that gets both really hot in summer and freezing cold in winter, both of which can make holding metal painful.
I did this mod- I also had the sticky shoulder buttons- I *gently* mashed the button on my soldering mat a few times and it is all better- but then again, the plastic frame piece between the buttons is chipped on one corner- I won’t lose any sleep over that. I also used aftermarket buttons to get a black and red theme- tried 2 different dpads that just weren’t working and ended up having to file down the post a little- now it is perfect. Only other thing that hasn’t been mentioned (-‘d this may be obvious when you stop and think about it)- amiibos don’t work through the aluminum shell. Last tip- test the device before you close up the back- it is tough to close the shell and I feel like it puts potentially hazardous pressure on the charge port if you open and close too many times. Check buttons, joysticks, touch screen, sound, headphones, card reader, Bluetooth, and Wifi. Other small considerations- swap the joysticks while you are in there- they are under $10 for a set and you will be in there anyway. Plus you can use a different color stick if you want to theme the device. Getting a new digitizer can help pull the whole thing together (but color options are limited to OEM colors as far as I can find) just make sure you have some screen adhesive. As long as you use heat and go slow, the digitizers aren’t too hard to get off and replaced.
2:25 _You're so fuckin' upgrade _*_with_*_ you_ ...wait- _Your sofa can upgrade _*_with_*_ you_ Right, that's exactly what I heard the first time, uh huh 😅

The price would be fair if the machining was much better than the one you have mister Wulffden. When the maker uses a company like "Vanquish Products" to get there machining done and then make a complete set that's for my OLED and Joycons and I'll pay $300-350. Again if the machining is up to a company like the above-mentioned companys quality standards. They make premium RC products in volume.
The price of the shell is what really stopped me from going this route back when I modded my life haha. Went ahead and swapped it into a Glacier White one instead but man this does look good!
@@stormevans6897 it would’ve been from someone else, I only started modding late last year. I remember seeing a metal shell but thinking it was too expensive, chance I’m thinking of the joycons. Shell swapped a pair of those last year too.

Love the look of the final build.
I feel like the Silver/Blue/Black/White color combo would be a good new look for your channel as well.
Macho Nacho is an awesome guy, genuinely love the work that man puts into all his videos and mods.
