    This was captured on Clio, a moon of Stanton IV for the ones wondering about the Javelins atmospheric capabilities. We actually tried this on a planet and it couldn't hold itself in the air

      The javelin is not meant to be flying in atmo. been known since it was made. biggest that will fly in atmo is the idris.

      The largest ship which can actually fly in atmosphere should be the Kraken, Idris or the Merchantman. Furthermore, outside of the Merchantman, most of them should be highly fuel consuming to fly in atmosphere. When atmospheric flight comes in, you might also have to consider the weather and other things which might make the journey even more difficult, not to mention how long it will take you to come out of the atmosphere again.

      Yeah, the lore was that Javelins were initially completely armor tanked and then retrofitted with shield systems after at lease one of the major space wars. IOW, the thing has so much mass that it does not care if you are shooting it... I can't say I am surprised by it flying like a lump of lead.

      Atmosphere provides cooling media though... it's massively easier to radiate waste heat in an atmosphere than in vacuum.

    • @BizzMRK
      @BizzMRK Месяц назад +1

      @@FrostSe7en the point is that where there is atmosphere there is obviously much higher gravity which puts strain on the thrusters to keep the ship up, which the javelin isn't designed for since it is only designed for space and can't lift up its own weight inside a gravity well hence why it doesn't have a landing gear.
