I always make it a habit of installing & removing wires in sequence. I remove hot first, than neutral finally ground. Than install ground, white & hot. Good electrical habits I use.
Tip: Carry a hand full of wooden golf tees for when the door hinge screws strip out, just add a dab of wood glue. I believe there's a thick and a thin size tees, both sizes come in super handy in a pich! Whatever is left over of the tee can be used again in a bigger hole, you can even use multiple golf tees to plug a huge hole.
Those little orange rings are not approved for that application. You need a box extender. Also, you have two hot lines there, so one of them should be your load, not both attached to line.
i have never been intrested in apartment maintenance but ray's videos came across my home page and i am hooked! dude just has a captivating voice and personality. i finished a whole video about something i have zero intrest in and i actually learned something usefull too. keep up the great work ray ill definatley be a normal viewer from now on!
They have certificate programs at community college in apartment maintenance, but they have the students training on new equipment. Then when they get on the job and have to deal with older plumbing or electricity that’s been messed with by many different people in the past, they get frustrated and quit. You have to have flexibility and problem-solving skills to deal with real-world situations.
Just started following you bro, Great work keep the content coming. Enjoy the videos and the information from one handyman to another salute from the Bronx NY
id check continunity on that computer board Fuse if you got a multimeter. maybe its the capacitor if the fuse is fine and theres voltage moving past the fuse
I absolutely love the videos man! Fellow maintenance/service tech for 6 commercial taxing salons. I’m always learning something different and love my job. Thanks for the awesome videos and hard work!
I have a ton of Milwaukee M12 tools including the circular saw. It’s definitely one of my favorites! Not sure why more people aren’t in the 12v systems they’re so much lighter and easier for home gamers and maintenance types. If you’re moving around quite a bit the 12 volts are the way to go.
Try the Bemis Sta-Tite toilet seats. If you have an HD Supply account you can get them in wood or plastic and when you change them again you don’t have to change the bolts. They press on and you turn the cap to lock it in place. I’m lucky like you in charge of myself. Glad I no longer have guys under me that’s a job in itself.
@ 30:13 I used to used fill the holes with tooth picks and wood glue to fill blown out holes on door hinges. I did maintenance for 6 years and honestly miss it, considering going back
I’m a handyman / caretaker for a complex in Vancouver Canada. I love my job to, lots of perks, like; suite included ( in suite laundry, dishwasher, gas fireplace), iPhone, free wifi , electricity & parking, pets allowed. Three weeks paid vacation. Great Christmas Bonus, plus residents give Christmas Bonuses as well. I don’t have to do in suite repairs, as it’s a Strata property ( I will do repairs, depending on what it is, if an owner asks, and they usually reimburse me for it). I’ve dealt with the door issues countless times, sometimes you can adjust the door jam. One issue that I’ve come across is, a resident has a problem like the toilet bolt , you go in to fix it , and their toilet is dirty, ( they’re semi hoarders and pigs, and think it’s just fine for you to work on). I don’t touch it, I walk away, make a report, and carry on). Done a lot of refurbishment projects , (taking older worn stuff and fixing, repainting ,etc). As the cosmetics of a property is everything. If an older property looks good and is well maintained, you won’t have a problem bringing in new residents.
Hey man. I enjoyed your channel and I’m gonna subscribe. I’m in Florida and I have a home repair contracting business and I miss having benefits. I’m thinking about going to work for a property if they’ll pay enough. Good luck with your channel. Rich
If I see something that needs to be done, I usually take a picture, or voice memo. Also, before and after pics. Eventually the shit hits the fan with managers ,etc about something stupid, so that helps cover your ass. It also lets them know just how many $ they’re saving by having you around, ( imagine their cost if they had to call in a plumber, electrician, appliance repair tech, etc ,etc for everything). My employer , we’re buds,,,,calculated approximately how much I saved the complex last year. It was about three times my salary, which in turn , led to a pretty hefty raise.
I'm surprised that the property owners don't want you taking pics of everything that you're repairing for their records. Mine are constantly up my rear for pics of everything.
I am thinking to get a maintenance job at an apartment complex. They say the wage will be around $18 an hour. Is that about right amount? I think it is a little lower than I thought. Of course it depends on all the job details but, what do you think?
I hope your apt management realizes they have something hard to find. A maintenance guy that isn’t lazy and does the job right as he can.
found a gem of a channel

thats a low volage ring, you should have used a box extender or a spark ring on that outlet.

Just found your channel. I’m also in the apartment maintenance industry. It’s cool to see how different properties/companies do things. Keep it up!
Welcome aboard!
While you do good work that GFCI is a code violation, it needs to be fully inside an enclosed box.

Fun to watch. Enjoy your commentary. Watching from Ontario Canada 🎉
Thanks for watching!
I like the truck. My son owns 2 Dakotas. A '97 extended cab 4X4 5.2 and a '99 RT single cab. Cool trucks. And that RT will scoot!
thanks "about the truck" it's my side projected -- getting a used "new bed" this week, mine is completely rusted out.
I wish more maintenance staff were as cool as you, for some reason a bunch of them on my route are stuffy.

depends on what state, your background, and if you know HVAC. for at beginner with no background yelp its not bad.
Depends on the area, you can get $18 for any low level position in South Florida these days.
Believe that the contractor wouldn’t have helped you at all
Hey man enjoying your videos just curious though it's none of my business but what's the deal with your eyes
Just a question: do you think you’re molding up the attic of your shop dumping the damp warm air from your ac exhaust into it?
no cause it's vented out on both ends
@@Raysmaintenance sounds good brah 🥴
Would dropping a small chlorine tablet in that little spot u sucked water out of help it from clogging up?
Probably but i don't have any
what was that tool u used to unscrew the back of that ac unit to get to the back of that pan

@@Raysmaintenance Crackman cordless screwdriver! lol

AC SEASON!!!!! MAN So many calls I get of the units not keeping up or not blowing cold AIR!!!
Do good on each one and next year will be soooo much easier 👍 you got this man
@@Raysmaintenance KEEP going with these videos man! Love em ( I know your by yourself but so am I so the vids keeps my time occupied)
@@Alexvalenc96 😅🤣😅 you need to get to work 👦 🤣😅🤣
Two wires to one screw on gfci outlet code violation. Should have pigtailed using wagos
What the contractor left him with isn’t any better 😂
They can if the device is identified as being suitable for it. 110.14a
😂😂😂
If it works, it works.
Nice work! It's better without the intro song.
thanks for you input on the intor
What kind of pants are those?
caterpillar
Is the electric wires in that complex in conduit?
not that I know of
No gloves ??
