Great job don't know what that other pipe was either the only thing I would have did was put a small access panel underneath the sink to and cut a little 2 inch hole to run your PVC through ..then it would have been a done finished look without a ugly hole underneath the cabinet

If it was leaking when the upstairs was used then the pipe you plugged was the drain not a vent.
