    I worked 30 years as industrial maintenance at a refinery, 16 years as maintenance supervisor. And one thing I noticed that makes me feel better is that people don't purposely come to work to fuck shit up and that they also fuck up their own shit too 😂.

    I'm retired was an electrician by trade in USAF, recently I was installing some homemade house shutters on our brick home and was using tapcons, had the right drill bit size etc but some of the tapcons would kind of strip out and not tighten up. I picked up a good hint from you using the wooden dowel in the hole and break it off, great idea. Don't know why I didn't think of that because I had used tooth picks on small wood screws that were stripped out so they would tighten up. Thanks for the info, always learning something from somebody.

    Ray, I'm a homeowner of 23 years. I'm not all that handy, but watching videos like yours gives me some "power" to do some things around the house Vs. hiring someone to do small things. I know sometimes doing work around an apartment is similar to doing work around a house, but maybe a few videos of keeping up on house preventative maintenance. Have a great day! Thanks for sharing your work and experience!

    The light fixture that you got the circuit from looked like a property owned night light. Wouldn’t that circuit only be energized at night? If it is for a sump pump then wouldn’t that need to be energized all the time?
    Enjoy your videos … You have a lot of skills.

    I am not used to seeing the wooden dowel used with Tapcons. Generally one just drills a hole 1/16"less and the Tapcons go directly into it. Usually the tapcons are sold with the proper bit inside the package. I enjoy the videos

      I believed the same thing as little as a day or two ago when I came across it again. But that got me to googling tonight and finding a LOT of information that doesn't expressly forbid it, with the exception to certain conditions (such as an underground (wet) location. But it's late and there's also people on google that say the earth is flat and this and that so I'll have to go dig around my code book later to see what the heck. I originally thought it was only permitted in like a run up to 6-12 inches.

    So maybe I missed it, but if you tapped into an outside light for the power, the sump pump will only have power when the timer/sensor turns on the outside lights.... correct?

    • @Raysmaintenance
      @Raysmaintenance  8 месяцев назад

      the light's are on 24/7 and their low voltage led light so there no pulling a lot of power so no problem powering pump whin running

    Just started watching your "Day series" and am sure impressed with how your day can go from planned to something out of the box...flea infestation, haha. I usually go into my hobby day knowing I'll be doing drywall or fence post digging or pouring for a concrete slab or fixing a porch beam. I can sure say, you sure are calm about your day. I'd be stressed hoping I would be able to fix such various items within a time frame...would I ever fix it? Would I have the right tool in my truck? Good channel, MAN.
