  • Wrestling Bios Presents - The Story of The Four Horsemen in WCW
When it comes to the greatest and most decorated factions in pro wrestling, The Four Horsemen will be at the top of many people's list. Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Ole Anderson and James J. Dillon had it all, they had success, ring skills, incredible promo abilities, they truly were at the top of the wrestling world during the mid 80s.
Throughout the years, The Four Horsemen had entertaining feuds with the likes of The Road Warriors and Magnum TA, but the most memorable feud the Horsemen probably ever had was against Dusty Rhodes. The Horsemen vs Rhodes captured the imaginations of fans worldwide, and people were willing to spend money to see Flair vs Rhodes for the NWA title.
As the years went on, some of the Horsemen left, and new members were added. Among them were the incredibly talented Barry Windham, newcomer Lex Luger, Sid Vicious, Paul Roma and Brian Pillman just to name a few. As the landscape of WCW changed over the years, the Horsemen tried to adapt but ultimately, the popularity of the nWo may have caused the end for the elite faction.
This Mini documentary from Wrestling Bios takes a look at Ric Flair and The Four Horsemen. Topics covered include:
01:40 - How Ric Flair began teaming with The Andersons
03:44 - The Introduction of Tully Blanchard
    05:17 - J.J Dillon becomes the manager
05:58 - How The Four Horsemen got their name
08:20 - Lex Luger joins The Four Horsemen
09:55 - Arn and Tully leave WCW to join the WWF as "The Brainbusters"
12:20 - Sting joins The Four Horsemen
    14:17 - Paul Roma becomes a Horseman
15:03 - Brian Pillman joins The Four Horsemen
16:26 - The nWo vs The Four Horsemen
    - Much More!

Arn Anderson was born 43 years old. When he was 4, his hair started receeding. When he was 7, Arm Anderson defeated two bears and a coyote who were fighting over a salmon. He healed the salmon and put it back in the river. That salmon grew up to be Adam Cole.

Once again, great video!👍🏻 One thing I wanted to touch on was Arn Anderson's coming into JCP. While I don't doubt that RIC Flair could've brought up Arn Anderson's name to Jim Crockett Jr (as Ric and Arn were friends before Arn came in) it was Bill Watts, while thinking of who he should send with Matt Bourne for some tag matches in the territory, that at the suggestion of the Junkyard Dog, told Bill Watts that Marty Lunde (Arn's real name) "looks like an Anderson. Send the kid with Bourne, turn him into an Anderson." Bill Watts got ahold of Ole, Ole said he'd check him out, and in the end, that's what happened, with Ole giving him (Arn) his name. Now maybe that's getting a little off the main story of the Horsemen itself, but it's something Arn has said many times in interviews, and I always found it interesting as well. That's all. The video was awesome. You touched on all the important parts that needed to be told, as well as giving the appropriate amount of time that each particular line-up was deserving of as well. Seriously, as someone who saw those first teaming of the original members at the age of 12 when it first happened, as well as the various lineups that came to be afterwards, I think you did a great job! 👍🏻 "That's nice bruddah, what you did there."😉

Sid always felt like hired muscle. Him being a "member" of the Horsemen seemed to be just a technicality. Sid and the Horsemen mutually benefited from each other: Kayfabe, Sid needed more exposure, The Horsemen needed a strong 4th body that could inflict damage. People poopoo it now, but at the time, it worked a decent purpose.

As long as Arn and Flair was there it was The Horsemen, but it sure didn't hurt to have guys like Tully, Ole and Dillon. Personally also really liked having Benoit in a later version - the dude was a legit looking badass with crisp work and the Horsemen was never about size. The problem with Luger is that he isn't cool. He has a good look and that's about it. He's a charisma-black hole.
It was good that JJ Dillon could get some good paychecks and in turn a steady job in WWE based on having been a part of the Horsemen. Dillon had a special needs child that cost him and his wife a lot of money to take care of, so it kinda saved a veteran from going broke.
I think Sid could have worked if they hadn't tried to push him as a regular Horseman but more of a bodyguard. The actual Horsemen had to be sharp and scheming. Sid wasn't exactly the brainy type.
Pillman didn't so much leave WCW for ECW as he asked Bischoff to be released. Bischoff say he could go work for ECW but not WWE till his contract was up.
