The Steiner Brothers were one of WCW's most popular tag teams. Even after stints in the WWF and in Japan, Rick and Scott Steiner was always welcomed back to WCW with open arms thanks to their incredible popularity. When the nWo became a thing, however, the landscape of WCW and the whole of professional wrestling began to change. In order to keep up with the times, Scott Steiner would leave his brother to eventually become "Big Poppa Pump".
Scott Steiner completely changed everything about who he was when he joined the New World Order. Not only did Scott change his look, but he also changed his character by becoming a much more self-absorbed and brash pro wrestler. Heavily inspired by Superstar Billy Graham, this new Scott Steiner would prove to be quite succesful right from the beginning and eventually, this change of character would also bring Scott to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.
This video looks at Scott Steiner's time in the nWo, focusing mainly on 1998 where WCW tried to squeeze everything they could out of the Scott Steiner vs Rick Steiner feud.

Love your channel, keep up the great work
I've seen this on a few other channels, including Drive Tribe and NON of them have made me laugh like this.. Superb... You should get a double payment with the Albert ref.. lololol

"Ddp while you're in the hospital on your back screaming in pain. Kimberly will be at my house on her back screaming my name!" Big Papa Pump 😂😂😂
"And all my freaks know, there ain't nothing finer than doing the sixty-niner with Scott Steiner"
lol, If Big Poppa Pump was on WWE today the twitter babies would meltdown weekly
"If your wife wants to tease me, she better be ready to please me" 😂😂😂
"I was in club Caligula, hitting switches on bitches"
Man Steiner was great on the mic
ENGLISH!
“BEER MUSCLES.”
😂😂😂. He had some great lines.
Someone once described Steiner's Big Poppa Pump character as "what someone who doesn't watch wrestling typically thinks wrestlers are like" and I haven't been able to forget it
Well I thought it was very much inspired by a late 90s edge (and advances in "sports medicine") to Billy Graham. So the iconography has been there since the 70s.
@@rvawildcardwolf2843 Billy Graham. Often imitated, never duplicated. Steiner is forreal steroids freak. And we love him for it.
Years of education and Scott Steiner was lying in wait with his mathematics
The numbers don't lie and they spell disaster for you
Haa.
😄👍
4×4 = 24 ×26 ÷12 means I just kicked your ass!! Holla if ya hear me
Is that what they teach at Michigan?
@@ericthomas917 yep, Mathematics and Suplexes by the looks of it😅
I recently met Scott at a convention and I have to say, he’s surprisingly a nice guy. More surprisingly he’s actually very soft spoken. However when I asked him about his brief rivalry with Triple H and if it was true that there was legit beef between them , he cracked a smile and pretty loudly told me “ that guy is an asshole “ lol.
He’s very humble and nice to his fans from what I’ve seen. I’ve even seen him give nobody’s interviews and advice. All that success and he’s still has respect for ppl. 🙏
@@graffProdigy just don't call a Frankensteiner the Hurracarana and you'll be ok.
@@1roundleft821 lmao Amen bro. If you are ever watching a match with this legend, remember that a guy flipping another guy from the top turnbuckle by his neck with the original guy’s legs…… it’s a Frankensteiner. God Help You if you irritate THE Genetic Freak.
@Ricky Makela there's a shoot interview from 2005 and when he is asked about the frankensteiner vs huricanrana he said the frankensteiner is when you catch the guy with it coming off the ropes
No doubt 😂
When a gimmick lasts over 20 years, you know it was the right decision.
I'm convinced it was never a gimmick and Steiner legit mutated into Big Poppa Pump
Scott’s transformation was one of the most radical ever in pro wrestling. He, effectively became another person. Scott is one of the best.
"Big poppa pump" is a name people who haven't watched wrestling since the late 90's still remember.
I'd say the change was good for him seeing as how it's still the character he is doing to this day
And I don't think the bright colores tights and black haired mullet would have gotten his a singles title. The. BPP Character put him over
He mutated into Big Poppa Pump
Really think Big Poppa Pump doesn’t get the credit he should as an innovator, not just from his character development towards the end of the 90’s but also his move set in the early 90’s, some of the stuff he was pulling off in Japan blows my mind to this day.
So true. He was a phenomenal wrestler and athlete in his early days, on par with Lesnar or Angle.
Agile cat in his younger days
He’s Billy Graham.
Can you imagine if wrestling would have got 1991 Scott Steiner vs 2003 Brock Lesnar?? Would've torn the f'n house down!!
TOTALLY agree! In the early 90's the guy was an ALL TIME GREAT tag team wrestler AND promo.....and he just changed it all up and it may have been even better lol
Finally some more Steiner content he is a true gem in wrestling. The blonde hair and chain hair piece is just iconic.
A true gem is not the word I'd use to describe him tbh.
Chain Mail
@@edbeasant9494 Steiner is a legend jabroni.
that chainmail hood was dope af.
Scott Steiner is a guy Im 100% confident will never come around again.
More like a 133 and 2/3rds percents!
Even 141 and 2/3rds percent chance
Well done!
Lol your name
🤣
Imagine if did the “Math” promo (what I call “Steiner-stistics”) on Goldberg in 1999…..
and now we are all going to watch it. you know you are.
We'd get more realistic figures since both of them are genetic freaks and they're not normal
I always loved how Scott Steiner took Master P’s song “I got the hook up” and made it into a catch phrase for wrestling
“HOLLA…IF YA HEAR ME!!!” I loved this too as a kid
Facts
"Separate your hips and put your ass out, and the daddy will make you pass out." Is a line he got from 2pac's "how do you want it". There's plenty of other promos he'd use rap lyrics for.
He's the Leonardo Da Vinci of cutting promos. His stuff was _too advanced_ for his time and only now do we see the real magic
Scott double crossing his own brother still scars me to this day
The Steiners are one of those teams that you don't want to see breakup but every great tag team at some point does and it worked out great for Scott.
That hurt like Marty and Shawn as one of the most devastatingly sad breakups.
Yep
@@thisjustin212 yep
The Steiner Brothers really should have made a comeback as an ultra-heel tag-team. Like anomalies in the locker room that no one, not even the NWO, would mess with
The man was a underrated suplex machine both solo and tag team runs are legendary people may question his physical appearance but he's one of the greatest to lace up a pair of wrestling boots. Steiner lines , Steiner recliner , suplex arsenal , Frankensteiner's , Collegiate amateur wrestling background the man's a legend
YES!!!!!!!! I swear, there was literally no scripting this guy!! His promos were so crazy and entertaining!! He has to be considered as one of the best on the mic and one of the best heels !!
Definitely. As long as Steiner was on my screen with a live mic I would not be switching channels.
Scotty Steiner and Ernest Miller 2 of the best on the mic no doubt
"I got a freak on my left, and I got a freak on my right... and this goes out to all my freaks out there in DETROIT!........ BIG POPPA PUMP IS YOUR HOOKUP, ... HOLLAR IF YOU HEAR ME!"
rock and steiner tag team = HOLLER IF YA SMELL ME
Scott gained muscle mass way before the nwo time.....just look at him when he was still with Rick. He was HUGE! He got really cut during the nwo time, which gave him that wicked physique
Incorrect.
Scott after leaving Rick, he became a main eventer big poppa pump, freakzilla, white thunder
I remember his heel turn took SOOO long. Everyone knew it was happening and WCW just dragged it out for months and months. When he finally turned on Rick it was almost a relief.
My absolute favorite person on the mic.
Steiner a god amongst men a freak among giants
BPP was fire on the mike. Always paid attention when he was talking
You sure are cold at spelling …
It’s Mic not Mike
Who’s mike?
*"Oh no..."* -Tony Schiavone, every time Scott grabs a mic
Full credit to Steiner, even a dying WCW couldn't prevent this being an excellent reinvention.
This reinvention happened during WCW's and wrestling's peak when they were firing on all cylinders. Full credit to both WCW and Scott.
I'd say he was one of the few wrestlers who kept WCW from sinking sooner (despite being completely unhinged)
Everyone always says he gained muscle when he became Big Poppa Pump, but he was already huge and actually dropped 30lbs and got totally ripped. He talks about that in a shoot interview with RF Video. His mic skills only got better and better over time. "EveryonewabtonowwhereI'vebeen" - Scott Steiner's return to WWE
Honestly Both Face and Heel Steiner was like night and day. It was also very shocking when he fully changed his look its like he wanted to be the complete opposite to make himself stand out even more. With Sting the change was more gradual and while you could see that in steiner as well it was definitely still shocking.
Also they delayed brother v brother for so damn long plus the constant BS nobody cared anymore
It would have been good if they had a better fued between Rick and Scott, with multiple matches, after the split. Instead of what we ended up getting.
Bro, this is the last man I'd wanna be in a cage with. He'll break anybody. Brock might be the Mayor, but Scott is the founder
Brock 2013,2014 vs steiner 1999 thru 2001 isnt close. Lesnar takes it easily.
@@benjones5929 That wouldnt be a prime Steiner imo. Pre BPP Steiner is one of the best I've seen in the ring.
THE NUMBERS DONT LIE AND IT SPELLS ME WATCHING THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
It also spells disaster for you, s'moa joe!!
Scott in WCW was an absolute boss. His promos were always funny and I loved his feuds. He really kept WCW going when it was going downhill. He is one of my all time favourite wrestlers.
Kept it going by being a total a** backstage...
Scot Steiner as big papa Pump is how I will always remember him.
I remember wanting to see a match between Rick and Scott that didn’t involve the NWO interfering, but we never got it.
You deserve the simpy of the people, Isaac.
Or a collegeship from a highly educated university!
Or even better, a Steiner Brothers comeback with both of them as top heels
We would never get it. If you look at interviews, all they ever wanted to do in wrestling was to be the best tag team ever as brothers. The two of them at the top. The only fitting end was to have an interference.
"...While totally forgetting the tag-team wrestler from The University of Michigan." That's only partly true, EVERYONE remembers that Scott's from a highly educated university.
His in-ring ability took a noticeable nosedive when he turned to the dark side. The heel turn bumped him up the card and was a good call for sure but I prefer baby face Steiner.
You're right about the in-ring ability. What I loved about him was that he used power, speed, and had the athleticism to boot. The Frankensteiner is still an awesome move but when Scott got bigger, he rarely would do it. He was still a beast in the ring.
The unfortunate sacrifice to achieve a character
@@NWOWCW4Life1 I still prefer great wrestling to over the top cartoon characters anyday
Ditto. Thats problem why he changed his persona. Nagging injuries
Is there a worse submission in wrestling than the Steiner Recliner? I don't think there is.
This is the first time I'm getting excited a RUclipsr gets to advertise something.. Proud of you brother!!
Steiner is the original Beast Incarnate.
@Javier F
Unfortunately before Scott Steiner there was Superstar Billy Graham!!!!
@Javier F
Got you and salute, Steiner is one of my favorites especially this version the early Big Poppa Pump
@Javier F
Steiner should have came in earlier, HHh that time buried all in his way minus Goldberg and HBK
I opened up RUclips to watch something else, but saw this and clicked it fast!
Same here
Talent recognizes talent
Same
Same here I was looking for kwame brown and got big poppa pump!
I can't wait to see the video of Scott Steiner in WCW post nwo till 2001
The glory years
From what I heard, Scott’s size increase was due to nagging back injuries
Synthol
No, steroids by the effing boatload. Synthol is more floaty, if you know what I mean. His workouts WERE INSANE by anyone's standard.
Surely you guys don't think Scott done steroids do you?? 😂
@@mrsrex Scott Steiner himself said so, watch one of his shoot interviews on Triple H
@@mrsrex there’s no natural way for a human body to get like that without steroids. Steroids only increase testosterone levels. He would still need to put the work in, at the gym and diet, to get to that size. It’s similar to professional IFBB bodybuilders.
I think injuries is what lead Scott Steiner to change his gimmick and in ring work, from one half of The Steiner Brothers to Big Poppa Pump.
One of the greatest promos of all time.
HELL YES!!! When Scott Steiner reached his final form!
Thank you for this, been suggesting Scotty's WCW title reign for near a year now, super excited about this coverage
Flair made it all but obvious with the way he was "selling" for Scott (I put the term in quotations because what Ric did that night can hardly be called selling) that night.
He half-assed his way through moves that Scott had pulled off flawlessly before... with a WILLING opponent.
Ric "runs naked up and down the aisle of an airplane" Flair gets more respect than he deserves.
Flair did the same to Bret Hart in 92, thankfully Bret won the match and Flair was gone to month afterwards.
Scott steiner was awesome his math promo is iconic.
This was legendary. Love the Steiners all around
I know this is not part of the Upload but Steiner Math will live on forever … 😂
I legitimately choked on my sandwich when you said, "You can look like Albert if you want"....
Those pose downs between Scott and Buff were hilarious!
This is right on time!! I have been on big poppa pump run lately he deserves more praise.
17:30 gotta love a double shirt reveal. It's like when Sting took off a Sting mask to reveal Sting lmao.
But sadly that was the highlight of the feud. The rest of the feud seems like how not to book if you respect your fans 101.
I loved Scotty Steiner but I never understood, even as an early teen, how or why he would be so proud of the tumor he called a bicep.
Cuz his arms were incredible. He's what got me to start bodybuilding as teen, and to continue for 17 years.
Different people, different personalities
He could tear your head off with a simple flinch of that tumor!
Seriously though, every time he flexed I was waiting for him to explode!
What do u mean? His muscles got muscles! Like they say, there’s either ppl that work out that are big or a ripped... he was both! That’s why he was a genetic freak. 💪
@@graffProdigy oh I’m not saying he’s not an awesome physical specimen that’s a freak of nature. It’s just that bicep bulge that I was always confused about. You can’t tell me you don’t know what I’m talking about.
Thank you for everything you do 👌👌👌 I can literally put this channel on a loop !
Thanks for this video and BPP!
It's about time Wrestling Bios lol!!! I've been waiting for this video since before the first Steiner Bros video you did!!! Thanks buddy! AMAZING CONTENT AS ALWAYS 😎🤘🏾💯😊
This video was well done, Steiner's evolution and background history was pretty interesting. Thank you for your work
Another great video. Thanks bro. 👍👍
Another awesome upload from the best wrestling channel on you tube and the internet. Thanks very much!
I loved how Rick did a reverse Scotty dye job after he turned heel
Back then this is the wrestler i pattern my persona after long live B.P.P
Scott Steiner is definitely one of the greatest of al time in professional wrestling, Rick and Scott were a great team and were tag team champions in every promotion they ever been a part of, when he turn heel in 1998, it was a reinvention with a fresh new start, Scott Steiner became Big Poppa Pump.
Love this channel mate! Reliving great memories 👌
Those really were the days to be a wrestling fan. There was several years where they really did put on a show.
Thanks for the discount code, I needed something like this
It's actually a great product 🤷♂️😂🖕🏾
Had it not been for Steiner's heel turn, we would've never learned math 11 years later...if you know what I mean lol. 😉
Thanks for showing the exact moment when he made the change of look, I had been wondering for awhile how it all went down and it was pretty cool to see that he actually made it happen overnight!
Another great video all about Scott steiner thanks wrestling Bios 👍
Big poppa pump, the maestro of the mic.
Great video!
Man I love this, and look forward to Thursday every week
Wrestling Bios is the GOAT 🐐🔥 always supplying the fire content that we didn’t know we needed
One of my all time favorite wrestlers and one of the all time best pure heels
You've got really feel simpy for Rick being an afterthought to Buff Bagwell
Total rubbish. There’s a lot of speculation that he turned down a world title push in the 80’s/ early 90’s to stick with Scott.
He was a legend always my favorite wrestler in this period
Big Poppa pump made that TV tile look good !
Scott's promos were so intense and hilarious. He would just take over the camera/mic
Steiner's turn to Big Poppa Pump is one of the best character transformations in wresting. It's almost like the original Scott Steiner no longer exists. This along with HBK, The Rock, and Hollywood Hogan. Stone Cold was also good, but the character didn't get going until Bret turned heel. He is also probably responsible for the Rock's success calling him by that name in a promo that ended up sticking.
Even to this day I still almost think of Scott Steiner and Big Poppa Pump as different people. It was the most radical transformation ever
Finally I've been waiting on this one
1998 was a crazy year for people turning heels and joining factions. But I loved Scott Steiner in the nwo we got big poppa pump and the crazy promos that he cut.
i cant be the only one who preferred his brother rick lol! none the less top class content as always bro! lying out the back with a beer watching this one :D
The Dog Faced Gremlin 4 life!
Not the only one. Fact is only time I even cared for Scott is when he was with Rick once he went solo I couldn't stand him
@@davidringle7 me too bro! 100% like i said earlier the hole look at me baby oil covered phase just didnt cut it for me even as a kid... a always rooted for the smaller guys as a kid
I love the content on this channel!
@Videos of shoenice mad lol okay thanks
Can't wait to see the next part❤️😊
I was waiting for this one!!!
I like 141 and two thirds of this video
Thank you! He is my favorite of all time!!!!!!
Damn Rick was taking liberties with Virgil.
Probably owed him a tenner.
Great video
THANK YOU WRESTLING BIOS GUY😊😊😊
I confess I always tought Scott had a cute character as the protective brother
The initial phase look of when Scott turns heel is hilarious. He looks like some kinda jacked up slim shady
This needed to be done and I didn’t even know it!!!!
Enjoyed this.
Scott Steiner themed video? Automatic LIKE!
The character change was good but I still liked the steiners as a team they were way more over than the big papa pump character by far. Not to mention that in my opinion scott was a WAY better wrestler when he was in that tag team he was so athletic and agile it was amazing to watch him wrestle. After he added the muscle mass to his already heavily muscled frame he just wasn’t the same in the ring that being said Scott Steiner was a spectacle to behold both as part of a tag team and his singles run
Me and my friend would check in on WCW Nitro while watching RAW just for Scott Steiner (and i guess Buff on occasion when they were a pair) on Monday Nights. we got a kick out of those two and the promos.
In 1997, Scott was starting to change. Pre-98 Scott Steiner looked so different.
im just interestedm your remixes are always spot on, how did you learn to remix music? Is it a general love for music, research online. Sorry if its a stupid question but your music got me interested in this topic.
Yo ur content is 🔥
What???!!!! I thought Rocka Billy was the greatest almost Intercontinental champion of all times. LOL
For Scott Steiner changing his character is the best thing he did and he move forward with the time.
That in ring frankensteiner just before he joined the nWo from Scott must have been his last.
