One of the craziest and scariest things to happen that I don’t think is mentioned on this vid was the fact Bret had a hardcore match with Terry Funk with a massive concussion 🤕
For that infamous thunder promo, I always wondered if Scott Hall was drunk or if he was just rebelling against what Russo had written down. He’s mentioned in shoot interviews that he was never a fan of Russo and would go off script with what was written down
Spot on video and quite rightly so in saying too little too late with Bret but still it is a what could have been. He definitely deserved a better ending to a wonderful career but can say that about a fair few wrestlers Great upload as always WB
I saw this live when Goldberg injured his arm on the limo window. This combined with his stiff head shot on Hart brought the company to a quicker death than it would have had. We are talking about Vince Russo as head writer, though, so maybe not.
Hall's final match was Superbrawl 2000, as it happens I asked him about that on a Kayfabe Commentaries YouShoot and he said it was because of something to do with Brad Sigel's daughter in Europe...Hall loved getting in trouble on European trips, but may he Rest in Peace
Thank you for taking time to make these videos. I really enjoy watching them. In the future, can you do maybe a Hayabusa or Jushin 'Thunder' Liger wrestling bio?
That’s been the norm forever in wrestling though. Look at all of wrestling history. There are always old stars involved way too long in the main event(s).
On that same token wrestlers like Rude, Nash, Hall, & Steiner wanted 2 replace legends like Flair, Hogan, & Hart, but the storylines weren't as good & fans wasn't ready 2 let go. Flair & Hogan mastered all aspects of wrestling & Bret was easily likeable. Nash was pure boring as the top guy. Steiner chance just came 2 late.
One of the funniest parts of this storyline actually happens when Bret is "attacked" backstage. The camera crew and Mike Tenay rush into the room but Goldberg is already there. He tries to hide behind the door but his big, tattooed arm is very clearly sticking out. Then he rushes in like he just got there. It's a huge botch by production but from a storyline aspect, it accidentally made Bill look suspicious in retrospect.
Never thought i'd see the day where in 2020 it would take both a Raw and Smackdown combined to match a Vince Russo Nitro rating. Heck Raw and Smackdown these days don't even do a Vince Russo TNA rating.
There is a thing called streaming, WWE has moved onto a new platform. Ratings matter considerably less, evidence by how much more money WWE makes these days.
This could possibly be WCW's most desperate storyline ever. If not, it has to atleast be the runner up. I absolutely adore Bret. He is LITERALLY the sole reason I became a wrestling fan. While his heel work in the WWF in 1997 was great, Bret isn't the right guy to lead this kind of faction. Russo gets more than enough criticism for his booking decisions, but this is definitely an angle that highlights his limitations. The WWE's nWo was bettet than this, and that's saying something.
Imagine if Bret didn't get injured and it was him that led The Alliance in the Invasion angle.
if Bret and Goldberg don't get hurt, WCW might have survived a bit longer and there may not have even been an Invasion angle.

For that infamous thunder promo, I always wondered if Scott Hall was drunk or if he was just rebelling against what Russo had written down. He’s mentioned in shoot interviews that he was never a fan of Russo and would go off script with what was written down
Sees this pop up - my brain (don’t do it don’t do it)
Me: “The cho cho chosen one” 😂
"BOW bow bowwwwwww *screeching harmonica*"
Wilhelm Beaston 😂😂😂😂
Wilhelm Beaston .....most of us switching to Raw.....
Glad I wasn't the only one. Anytime i hear chosen one it happens
Listen up SLAPNUTS!
That nWo theme mixed with Brets and Razor is just 2 Sweet
Bret's good matches in WCW include 2 each against Booker T, Lex Luger and DDP - all for the US title I believe.
Spot on video and quite rightly so in saying too little too late with Bret but still it is a what could have been.
He definitely deserved a better ending to a wonderful career but can say that about a fair few wrestlers
Great upload as always WB
This was exhausting to listen to...I can't imagine how exhausting it was to research and record. All these ridiculous twists and turns.
It was only interesting when Hogan ran the nwo.
Phenomenal channel bro
Anything in pro wrestling that used the "2000" tag line was doomed from the start.
Ummm, LOD 2000??
@@FranzFerdinand76 Um...no!!!
Umm.....WrestleMania 2000!? BOTH the event itself AND the N64 game!?
Whatever you are smoking, do NOT pass me that!
#KeepItKayfabe😎
Thank you for taking time to make these videos. I really enjoy watching them. In the future, can you do maybe a Hayabusa or Jushin 'Thunder' Liger wrestling bio?
The nWo theme music is such fire. Up there with the best.
I remember being so excited for this group and it just didnt go anywhere
I swear Jeff Jarrett is like that one kid who has to be involved in everything
Who’s watching during the pandemic? Don’t you miss the good ol days of wrestling
literally impossible for anyone to have watched this video at any other point in history, considering it was released two days ago.
Literally anyone that has ever seen the video
Too many old stars in the main event scene.
That’s been the norm forever in wrestling though. Look at all of wrestling history. There are always old stars involved way too long in the main event(s).
sounds like wwe these days tbh
@@pataker7875 The problem with the old stars is they often refuse to put over younger talent. Emagine if Hogan put over Jericho, Benoit etc in WCW?
Unlike Jushin Thunder Liger. He always put over young stars. He was never selfish unlike Hogan, Austin and the others
WCW was my fav back in the 90s, up until I went into the Marines in late 98. Glad I missed WCW's last years. Good grief.
hearing bret talk about that kick is so heartbreaking
One of the funniest parts of this storyline actually happens when Bret is "attacked" backstage. The camera crew and Mike Tenay rush into the room but Goldberg is already there. He tries to hide behind the door but his big, tattooed arm is very clearly sticking out. Then he rushes in like he just got there. It's a huge botch by production but from a storyline aspect, it accidentally made Bill look suspicious in retrospect.
This could have been so good
Agree. If not for Goldberg screwing it all up, just like he screwed up the plan for the followup to the Fingerpoke of Doom.
Video put together well.
Never thought i'd see the day where in 2020 it would take both a Raw and Smackdown combined to match a Vince Russo Nitro rating. Heck Raw and Smackdown these days don't even do a Vince Russo TNA rating.
Um_Zito i thought id see the day in 2020 cuz ive heard of streaming services
neilson ratings don't mean the same as they did in 2000.
I'm liking the mix style music intro 👍
