I was really looking forward to the Hard Truth bourbon releases so I picked up this four grain as soon as it dropped. Unfortunately I was terribly disappointed when I tried it. I got no flavor whatsoever, except for a bitterness finished with strong black pepper. Hoped it might open up after awhile but after three tries it's the same. Maybe I just got a bottle that's off somehow, I don't know ,but as I said I had high hopes, I live just 25 minutes from the distillery so I really wanted to like it.
I don’t think I’ve seen anything rated over 8 before from you guys. I haven’t seen any of the HT bourbons around me but would like to try this one the most. Just FYI butterscotch is made from butter and brown sugar while caramel is made from white sugar. Happy Easter
We've had some 8+ ratings, for sure. I really like this bottle for the price, but not quite ready to give it an 8+ like Charlie did. I really have to feel blown away by something (regardless of price) to go over 8. Cheers! - Glenn
Shows the difference in people’s pallets. Man o man Fred Minnick Hated on this. Pretty bad. Said it’s not not worth $17.00. Evan Williams black label is better. Glad you guys liked it. Maybe a different batch?
I know Fred and even he will tell you, everyone's palate is different. I'm not saying it's great, but it's pretty damn good for the price. I would strongly disagree with him on the $17. That is a bottom shelf price and this is no bottom shelf bourbon. - Glenn
