    Hard Truth Distillery and restaurant in Nashville, IN is a beautiful location in the hills of Brown County. Awesome tour options and cabin rentals on their grounds. Beautiful outdoor amphitheater and sitting area too

      The wife and I love hopping on the motorcycle and making the 2.5 hour ride to Hard Truth for lunch. I've yet to do a tour. Maybe I'll make that happen this year.

      That would be a great one to put in. Going to be hard to beat that one. I havent had any of them, but the green river gets very high praise from everyone ive seen that has had it

      I second this. Would love to see the white label Bardstown origin in the blind especially since it’s the exact same price as hard truth.

    My sister had her wedding at their distillery venue a few years back. I live two towns over from them.
    Glad to see them expanding their line and getting their bottles in stores.
    I had their High Road Rye a month back, loved it.

    Got the exact same notes in my livestream last week. That butterscotch note, which is my favorite HT note, is in their Sweet Mash Rye and really prevalent in the Harvest Rye they did. Great review guys!

    Sounds like you have a great idea for a new blind. I will be hunting Hard Truth tomorrow. Growing up in Southern Indiana, I spent some time around Columbus, IN and visits to Brown County state park.

    They have some newer finished ones aged in brandy, cognac and sherry casks. They are a little expensive, but really nice

      Ive never seen those ones. Their sweet mash rye is supposed to be a banger too. Thats pretty much the only one ive seen here in MA, other than their rums and rum creams. The toast coconut rum isnt bad, and the toasted coconut rum cream is probably the best cream ive had. Better than buffalo trace bourbon cream, and middle west bourbon cream which are both really good.

    Kurt and Trenton, I would greatly appreciate if, when you bring forth a new line or offering, such as in this video, you'd add your perspective on whether or not it would make a good cocktail. If so, Old Fashioned, Manhattan, etc.

      Id really love to try that one as well. Too bad it isnt around here. I only see their rum and rum creams, which are pretty good, especially the toasted coconut rum cream. I also see their sweet mash rye which ive always wanted to try since it get really good reviews and has even made some top ryes and top whiskeys of the year from at least a couple big reviewers

    Just toured Hard Truth last weekend. What a beautiful setting. These were not available yet, but I picked up their Mellencamp Harvest Rye.

      I havent seen or heard of that one yet. Their sweet mash rye thats in the same bottles as the video is supposed to be absolutely amazing as well. Ive see at least a couple reviewers praise it and put it in their top ryes and even top whiskeys of the year

    I just bought the two bottled in bond expressions and the lower, smaller label, on the left side says, “distilled in 2019” and “bottled in 2024” so, five year old juice.

    I'm glad to see Hard Truth on the bar. It's outside my budget, but back during the summer the folks at Kelly Liquors let me try some Hard Truth sweet mash rye and it was *delicious.*
    That four grain bourbon sounds fantastic.

    They also have a sweet mash rye that has been out for at least a couple years thats supposed to be really good. Jason C has had it on his top ryes of the year i think twice. They also have a toasted coconut rum thats not bad, a toasted coconut rum cream thats amazing, and something like schoonover 14yr single barrel thats supposed to be really good, but that ones pretty expensive, around $150. I hope these bottles in the vid get here in MA real soon. Would love to try that four grain and regular bourbon. Great video as always gentlemen

    The age statement is usually stated on the back of the bottle. It is small print. The Hard Truth Sweet Mash Ryes have a age statement on them.

    You should add the new rebel small batch reserve into the blind on Friday. After watching that video I was able to find it for 30$! Also in my wife’s home town of Warsaw, Indiana they have a new whiskey bar that is really great, that you guys should check out sometime it’s called Anthology Whiskey Room!

    Trenton, the palette is ever evolving. Wheaters, Rye, to a traditional bourbon or a Tennessee Whiskey or Bourbon. Just like in a blind.

    Id try Ben Holladay Soft Wheat BIB or Davidson Reserve 4 grain in the blind lineup. Both are in the $47 to $57 price range.

      How are they in Illinois when their distillery told me they won't be for sale until Feb 16?

      @@whenmusicmatters they were in multiple IL stores on Thursday last week. I am guessing they are not set for release in the state Indiana until the 24th. I was planning on going to the distillery on that day but bought them all already. Side note: the wheat is awesome.

    Hard Truth is an amazing place! I’m a local to the area and the facility is absolutley beautiful. Their tastings are very informative and welcoming to all levels of alcohol enthusiasts. The food is a bit on the higher side but very good quality. Nashville, which is the little town right down the road from the facility, and it’s a great place to spend the day walking around. It’s in a small valley so lots of beautiful trials to walk around as well. Highly recommend this little gem in southern Indiana!

      Nashville? Little town? Ive never been, but i always thought/pictured it as a medium-big city. Not like Boston or NYC big, but never pictured it as a small town. Interesting

    I think you should add the RD One double finished in oak & maple barrels in a blind with the 4 grain in video. It's fantastic. Tastes like a stack of pancakes with maple syrup. Really enjoy your videos.

    I can only get their ryes, rum, vodka, or novelty spirits in NY at this time. Their bourbon hasn't made it to the shelves yet.

    That Truth Wheated BiB sounds really good. I'm a sucker for BiB and wheated whiskey. Will have to keep an eye out during my travels this summer.

      I did a side by side with Weller Antique 107 and HT Wheated BiB. The OWA was more refined and would "win" between the two. My opinion is the HT is still a bit young and I'd love to find out what another 1 - 3 yrs would do.
      I'm still gonna buy some more plus will be picking up the 4 Grain and bourbon in the next wk or two.

    You could blind the Hard Truth Four Grain against Spirts of French Lick's Lee W. Sinclair. Both are Indiana-made BiB Four Grain Bourbons. Would be interesting to compare. I like the Lee W. Sinclair, so i look forward to picking up the High Road. The High Road Distillery complex is really a cool place to check out. Not far from either Indianapolis or Louisville.

    Disappointing that Trenton did not know Sweet Mash vs Sour Mash. Other examples of Kentucky distilleries using Sweet Mash process are Peerless and Wilderness Trail.

    My suggestion for the first one is to put the bourbon against Michter's as it is the same price point and near proof. Curious what you think of the last one against Architect or Penelope Four grain.

    At that price point you should put the Bardstown Origin BiB up against it if you are looking for heavy hitters. If you want a smaller distillery, maybe Paragon BiB. You could always do Wild Turkey 101 just to mess with Kurt when he doesn't pick it to be his favorite.

    Interesting. I love that butterscotch I get from Elijah Craig BP C921 & 23. So if this 4 grain taste butterscotchy then I’ll go hunting for it! 😋 do you guys have any other recommendations on bourbons with strong butterscotch notes?

    Sitting here cracking open my first Hard Truth Sweet Mash Wheated and how? Wow! It has the infamous "wheater funk" some call it, I don't generally pick that out but with this one, it's right there on the nose. Mouth feel is complex, viscous, and the flavors linger for a long time. How is this punching in the weight class of Weller A107 I don't know considering it's 100 Proof but it is.

    Am I the only one who thinks $45 is kind of high for a lower proof bourbon with no age statement? They compared to Buffalo Trace which is about half that price when available. Not to mention solid Bourbons from Elijah Craig, Maker's mark, Wild turkey, knob creek, and many more that are under $35.

    I think Bowman Brothers would be more of a fair matchup than John J Bowman since it’s a small batch and seems to be more readily available on the shelf
