Had a friend from Indiana bring a bottle of Sweet Mash Rye visiting California and I loved it. Based on that bottle alone I would definitely buy the four grain bottle just to support the local craft scene. Cheers!

I bought the 14 year Hard Truth on Tuesday for 200.00 @ Spec's here in Fort Worth. It is Dickel 17 in a Hard Truth bottle. I'm so disappointed in it!

Gotta give Mr. Minnick love as he's not a defacto craft whiskey hater as are his colleagues at Bourbon Pursuit and the general whiskey tube bro scene. However, EWBiB still as your standard bearer BiB is somewhat unusual to me, because, if I recall correctly, it has not placed highly during your annual "Best value bourbons (under $40)" the past 3 or so years.

Fred…I have always wanted to ask you one question (and I don’t wanna do it if we get to visit at the Barrel’s for Hope thing in July, or when you next do an event in our home state)…I used to do U.S. Customs bonded warehouse and pipeline work for energy and auto companies. From listening to Jackie Zykan and some Heaven Hill folks talk, it sounds like the BiB stocks are just pulled from the regular stocks of whichever uniform mash bill. I get that identifying the season from eventually pulled barrels isn’t that big of a deal, but is every rickhouse a U.S. bonded warehouse, or is something else going on…cause back in my day (and the days of Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hill’s Cop) bonded warehouse security and accounting was a pain in the butt thing…and every time I look at a list of rules, “federally bonded warehouse” is listed. I know…this is the fun part of bourbon!
Don't have numbers but back in that time period many a whiskey drinkers were dying by drinking a tainted whiskey. One thing the government got right.
Can you do a video on your thoughts on the American single malt movement?
My personal opinion is some distillers may think if they make a BIB release people are going to automatically think it’s better. Most of them are pretty good but it shouldn’t mean an automatic pass.
I hope they let their product mature as it get's older they are only going to get better.

@@JR-tg1vg They are different, but I can't say "better" since it's really just a preference between wheated vs a more traditional mash bill. I bought them all and I like them all, but I'm on bottle THREE of the black label!

I really like Hard Truth’s stuff. Not the greatest, but really good. And for the life of me, I don’t get the love affair with EW BIB that’s all over the Bourbon RUclips channels. Maybe I’ve got different a way different plate than most bourbon drinkers, but for me it was only tolerable. And barely. Really like the EW Black Label and other HH offerings, but not the EW BIB. Just sayin.

If I sold $80.00 sourced whiskey I would Hate budget bourbons too.
