Can these get more air time on TV. I know here in Canada we love the TA2 cars since it is the closest, in my opinion, to old school original Trans-Am racing.

Can anybody from US explain to me why Nascar is the most popular series there when you have THIS? This is proper racing right here, all american. No need to worship Formula 1 or Nurburgring. I mean, you can if you want to, F1 is still great, but this is solid too.

I'm not from the US but I have a explenation I think. Oval racing (on amateur level like late models or sprint cars) in the US is cheaper than this. There are also more big oval tracks than big road courses. There are only a few road courses who can have big events. But on low level racing there aren't so much road courses especially in the southern states where NASCAR rules. And I guess with the big tv contracts that NASCAR has, people think it is "better" because in the US nascar falls under the same category as the NFL,NBA,MLB,NHL,...
But that's my opinion, I'm from europe so I don't know exactly but I guess this is a fair cause.
BTW, nascar races are almost every race 180mph+ so maybe that's more exciting in their culture idk.

This is an over simplification, but this is the gist of the answer to your question, to my mind anyway. And yes I realise your comment is 2 years old.
Back in the 1970s and into the 80s you were more likely to see CART (indy car) races on TV, everyone new about AJ Foyt, Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, etc. Late 70s and early 80s more and more Nascar starting being televised and we enjoyed the novelty and good old boyness about it, but motor racing purist still preferred CART and what F1 races were televised. We got the Speed Channel and that opened our eyes to TransAM, IMSA, and many other typed of racing both here and abroad. The 80s and 90s was a paradise of televised motor racing. Nascar started realizing that they were a product and began chasing the money, sponsorship, TV coverage and the more they gained the more the other series lost out on. Later in the 90s, Tony George basically single handedly destroyed open wheeled racing in the United States when he created the IRC, it took a few years but we fans had to watch the long slow death of CART. Also at this time Nascar went hollywood, Nascar became the "in" thing, it was hip and cool to be a Nascar fan, even if you never watched a car race before. As we move along the years, the Speed channel discovered reality TV like most of the other cable channel and all that wonderful racing we used to have was replaced by a bunch trash TV (Speed Channel, doesn't even exist now, it became FS1 which shows a tiny bit of racing but mainly other sports). IRC didn't and still doesn't hold a candle to CART, F1 is generally just 2 hours of follow the leader with only a very few cars capable of winning, you have to search far and wide to find coverage of other types of racing, so that leaves us with NASCAR as the only half way decent racing you can sit down and watch on a Sunday afternoon.

They should just merge TA1 & 2 under these regs; this and Aussie Supercars are just so good.

9:08 , 13:25 , 17:23 and other in car shots, the telemetry data doesn't look right. It doesn't match the sound of the engine. 10:23 the telemetry looks ok but the sound seems off. Other times it looks right like at 12:31 & 18:43. Haley's and Robinson's seem right but the other cars don't match. The gear indicator never looks right in any car though.
Anyway that was an awesome race.
