I remember the old days at Brainerd back in the early 80's, when the infield would get filled with local crazies and their four wheel drive vehicles all drunk and trying to drive through the mud hole. It was entertainment of it's own between races. I still remember when this big dual wheeled four wheel drive van got stuck deep in the mudhole. A Blazer then agreed to pull him out. They had one of those bungee tow ropes and hooked it up. The Blazer started to pull, but just lost all traction on the mud. So he backed it up bumper to bumper and floored it. The whole front bumper of the van ripped off and went flying 100's of feet in the air. All you could hear was "FFFFFFFK" from the van driver. Then all of these bikini clad women came piling out of the van into the mud. It was glorious.
I tried to get into it.. if you want to watch real trans am racing, watch the continental tire sports car championship.. trans am racing has gotten way too far from their production based roots.. tube frame cars with fiberglass panels. These cars share absolutely nothing with the cars they're based on..
The Continental Tire Sports Car Championship is my favorite series, but some of the Trans Am series racing is pretty good. The TA4 class still has production-based muscle cars.
Trans-Am racing has been tubeframe cars with silhouette bodies since the mid-1970s, in all fairness. It's not a new issue. Take your point on true production sportscar racing being in Continental Tire Series. Love the mix of cars in that.
Wow watching this was just cringe worthy...I should go to these if they wreck this much and drive this shitty...what a bunch of amatuers. Even the commentators..."not sure exactly what happened" with the Camaro...you can clearly see the tire blow out. Jed Copham spings out right after the start, then again later on making one of the dumbest moves I've seen...everyone is like mid 40s too...

what a great race for Cliff! such a bummer that he had issues but at least still finished second.
Built Ford Tough. That's why it stayed together. 2nd place is way better than last place.
I need to save my lunch money and get a TA2 car.
Wow..C6 Corvette trans am...mustangs camaros as well..
That Mustang!!
Shout out to Michael McDowell !! Stone Staging w/ Pure Karting
What happened to all of the Camaros and Mustangs that were in TA3 Muscle/TA4 or whatever they're calling it now?
Why did 2 cars spin out on the 1st lap 🤔
