One helpful mnemonics is ALL= aCute Little Leukemics AML= Aged Men Leukemia (walking with a cane ~Auer rods) CML= Phillidelphia CreaMcheese CLL= Crushed Little Lymphocytes (Smudge cells)
Age profiles/demographics ALL- affects ALL ages (especially kids-B cell for Boys, T cell for Teens) AML- Ages Mid to Late- adults CML- Comes Mid to Late- adults CLL- Comes Late Late- seniors HCL- Hairy Biker (Hairy Cell) , clad (cladribine) in leather, with a fat belly (organomegaly)
Andddd this is heading directly to my anki deck. Love your videos. I find them to be extremely useful for very high yield topics. Gives just the minimal amount of information necessary to get the question right, and in the end thats kinda all that matters. I think some people psych themselves out on Step questions. Most of the questions are really very simple if you know little tips and stuff like this. You don't have to know every detail about everything. Just recognize patterns and key findings and you'll get a lot of questions right.
Thank you so much! I kept rereading my nursing textbook on this subject, but it didn't click until you super simplified the name for each and put them on a little spectrum! Acute is immature, Chronic is mature, and Myeloid means neutrophils. The medial and lateral letter association worked great! Thank you :)
I just discovered this video, I'm not even doing a test or anything but... this was really clear. I appreciate videos that are clear, accurate, and cut to the point. So well done :D!
CML has decreased levels of Leukocyte Alkaline Phosphatase... my understanding of this is that while the cells are mature, they aren't mature enough to produce appropriate levels of ALP...
make it simple,acute is sudden, so its immature, and chronic takes time to form, so its mature...simple babies are immature ,while elders are mature...💪💪👍
Thank u for all ur work ! Can you do hemonc pharma plz 😬🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 antimetabolites and what not cuz it’s connected to biochem a lot :( I’m sure ud have amazing tactics and mnemonics !
Another helpful add-on
AML= (A)uer rods and (M)yeloperoxidase positive

You could say the defining characteristic of CLL would be the "smudge cells" possibly, but other than that this video is spot on!
yep! i was gonna say.. crushed lil lymphocytes
Also, something to note, CLL can be treated with CD20 (B cell) targeted therapy, such as rituximab. Came up on UW
