I love all of your videos and have learned immensely from them. I am in the US and on a budget so I have been using Alphasense castable resin (green). It is $50 for 500ml and does not require post curing before casting and is cleaned with warm water. The smell is not bad more like Vicks vapor rub or a eucalyptus aroma therapy. It adheres to the plate with no prep other than 180 grit scuff and 4 good layers at 60 seconds (the small plate at bottom of model, no pre-cure plate). I find the detail excellent for what I do, I printed an Aes Sedai ring from the "Wheel of Time" for myself and very pleased, as well as many other fine detailed rings. Just wanted to pass along a resin I have not seen you use (unless I missed it?) and as always Keep up the good work. Thank you
As a Canadian, I guess I'm gonna go support my fellow countrymate! Having watched a number of your casting resin reviews, this product seems pretty straightforward (once we RTFM 😁)
I learned a lot about resin sweat. Thank you! Seems like a decent resin to use for casting. Love that the resin doesn't have to be warm. Your excellent results make me want to try casting. Maybe I'll get there one day.
Now that you've got all the processes dialed down, it would be great to see you cast a big complicated piece. And by complicated, I mean something that contains gaps, geometries that pass through each other in weird ways, pipes etc. Something that will mostly challenge the plaster than the resin at that point.
Hello, I have ordered this resin, I think it is fantastic, I am only worried that you have not been able to print with the phrozen sonic 4k, since it is the printer that I have, have you tried to print again with this machine on this resin? If so, please share the configuration I use. I'm considering sanding my printer plate
I suggest you add a leg for each ring printed to easier add it to the sprue tree. It also allow easier removal once the casting is done. I've done that and my life got a lot easier.
Hello Friend,Alright ? So from these 3 resins which do you prefer for details and casting. I use for jewelry. bluecast x-one Resinworks wax 200 Siraya Tech
Not sure why, but there is just something pleasant about the green color of the prints. Most prints are either harsh to look at, or just the standard gray. My brain works in mysterious ways for sure 😄 🤣.
No, I meant 30. ResinWorks suggest 20 minutes "depending on the size of the print." I went with 30 to make sure the print is FULLY cured. I like nice clean castings 😁😁😁
As always you've done a great job explaining and giving us the information we need. Thanks! Do you ever print spews in place? I was wondering how much more is your power use bill using the furnaces you use to burn out the molds and melt your metals? I use gas so I don't really know and was looking for a point of reference.
Siraya Tech Cast is cheaper, prints on any size support, but isn't easy on the eye and needs glycerine to cure. EasyCast 200 is easier to see prints, but requires thicker supports and costs more money. So for me we don't have the perfect castable resin yet... easy on the pocket, the eye and the supports. But for now, I'll probably stick with ST Cast 😁
Hi and thanks for video. I just want to ask you did you compared your digital model's sizes and casting out object's sizes? Are they exactly same? Because i hear because of wax, its becoming smaller..
Hi Geoff - this resin calls for quite a long light-off delay. Do you heed that or pedal to the metal? I can't see why it should be more than a second, maybe 1.5. Don't see you mention it here or in your other easycast200 video from 12/17/21.
Hello Vog, I just received my Anycubic dlp ultra. Might I ask what your print settings are for this print so I may begin validation testing on my printer!
I don't have enough reviews. Print out your ring. You can't print it out. Success rate is 10%. Even if I succeed, the ring will be dented. Casting is better than any other resin, but it's impossible to print it out. I'm using Sonic 4k.
It's not something that's bothered me to be honest. I deal mainly with small pieces... so small shrinkage on small pieces equals very little difference 😁
Thanks for the detailed review, do I understand correctly that this resin melts away just like real wax, instead of burning? If so, at which temperature does it do so?
They pretty much all do that... they mostly melt out at the lower temperatures but all leave a residue that only gets burned away at higher temperatures. 😁😁😁
Have you looked? I'll be honest, I don't. But that's why the flask is initially inserted upside down to allow wax and resin residue to seep out. What remains is a very thin coating which could potentially turn to ash. With good resins and waxes this burns away cleanly without residue. ALL the Bluecast resins burn away VERY well 😁
@@vogman yes I have. Upside down is for the wax tree. After some time on around 150 degrees celcius the wax is gone but I can still see the bluecast prints inside the casting container. At that point I place my container with the opening north to allow for better degassing and burnin at 850c..
Hi i am new to castable resin, i am just curious , what happened to the green resin after u poured the molten metal in ? Does it dissolve or do you have to remove it before pouring ? Thanks
Resin printing and sand don't really go together. The resin is baked at very high temperatures until it melts away. The sand would just collapse on itself. A lot of very talented guys do use deft clay etc to make ring moulds... I'm not that talented 😁😁😁

@@vogman And the recycled plastic and filament.
Getting ready to cast my first rings, you've taught me a lot now its time to put it to work! Always appreciate your videos!
did you cash out for a real kayacast?
Great to hear! Happy casting 😁
K what printer u use for jewelry ?
I learned a lot about resin sweat. Thank you! Seems like a decent resin to use for casting. Love that the resin doesn't have to be warm. Your excellent results make me want to try casting. Maybe I'll get there one day.
And when you do get there, you'll be able to avoid many of the mistakes most of us fall victim to 😁😁😁

Beautiful rings! Also nive to see the photon ultra in action again (I've pre-ordered mine so it made me super excited to see the quality!)
I don't play with it enough, it's true 😁😁😁

I admire your engineering skills and craftsmanship. Very informative and fun to watch.

This video showing such a good result from 3d print to solid metal is really enticing.

Not sure why, but there is just something pleasant about the green color of the prints. Most prints are either harsh to look at, or just the standard gray. My brain works in mysterious ways for sure 😄 🤣.
It's even better in real life. It's a pleasant matt colour that's genuinely easy to see. So many resins make spotting tiny flaws difficult 😁😁😁
30min cure is that not massive overkill? Wouldnt that make prints much more brittle?
Fully curing castable resins is important. If you don't, flaws can creep into your castings. So it's better to over-cure and handle carefully 😁
Shrinkage with printing, shrinkage with curing, shrinkage with casting... the joys of this technique 😁😁😁
Perhaps he meant 3 minutes? Unless it's specific to this resin, a 30 minute cure would be extreme for those little prints.
No, I meant 30. ResinWorks suggest 20 minutes "depending on the size of the print."
I went with 30 to make sure the print is FULLY cured. I like nice clean castings 😁😁😁
@@vogman Interesting. I'm also going to be picking up some vegetable glycerin. Thanks for the tips.

I deliberately don't look at the electricity bill... just in case 😁😁😁
As for sprues, I often print them in place for ease.
I can't wait for the price of castable resin to come down in price
We're seeing more and more folks get in to casting and that will doubtless help bring prices down 😁
Great video this might b the one I need to try next
You should! I was impressed 😁
@VOG I'm editing a video now I'll post the link on Instagram hope I could get some criticism constructive hopefully lol
Thank you. That ring is cool.
Fantastic design isn't it. 😁

The color looks to compliment the ease of inspecting your prints.
Was cleaning the print on par with Siraya Tech Cast?
Yes. It was very easy to clean using the usual methods 😁
The box is cute 😍
It different... very practical for storage 😁
Very useful information 👌 thanks a lot 😊
Most welcome 😊

Can you comment please on the flask's casting temp using Ancient Bronze?
If you get the bullion from Riogrande, they have suggested temperatures there 😁

Thanks for the review. Do you think sanding smooth type flexplates with a coarse sandpaper would work to improve adhesion?
In fairness that is something that Wham Bam recommend 😁
Lol, now you have a flex plate and then it doesn't work xD but great review as usual

Thanks you for your channel
hi: could you make a video if that resin works or if it can be used in the Phrozen 8K ?

Sorry friend! I see you told someone on yet a third video that you do as your told. Well I guess that'll happen when you've been married for a while!
they need to make a 3D printer with Romulan Technology:
Is it possible to print with wax?
With pure wax? I've no idea. Resins like this one have a wax content... that's about as much as I know 😁
What schedule did you use

Would 'sticky wax' have helped in joining your sprew to the ring?
I tried it and no, it didn't help. It was the oils I guess. But the second wash worked fantastic! 😁😁😁

Hi, thanks for the video! How many rings you can print from this resin? So you have 500 grams of resin and how many rings you will get? Many thanks!
It's impossible to say. Some rings are large and thick, others are small and thin. Honestly, I couldn't begin to guess.
@@vogman What is the best resin for casting with the stones (cubic zirconias) in it? Maybe you should do video of that topic as well. Regards!

Why does this video sound like thunderfoot?
If you keep using the metal buildplate scraper instead of a plastic one, you end up losing most of your checkkered buildplate pattern.
Maybe... but the metal scraper is specifically for removing the prints and the plastic one is meant to scrape off the FEP or mix resin 😁
@@vogman i sharpened the plastic scraper to remove my prints.
That's an interesting approach. Have you considered a flexible build plate? ruclips.net/video/fRs6tjE3KhQ/видео.html
@@vogman hmm, no. I will look into that.
I use fine art paintbrushes to clean the fep, to avoid any scratches.
