Machining and Welding Silicon Bronze repair Caterpillar Dozer track adjuster cylinder | Part 2

  • This video is Part 2 of repairing and replacing a Caterpillar D10 Dozer track adjuster cylinder that has been damaged. In this video we are machining and welding to repair the damaged track adjuster sleeve. First we machine down the damaged sleeve surfaces using our TM-1740G lathe before mig welding with silicon bronze to build up the machined steel surfaces. Then the sleeve goes back in the lathe for machining the silicon bronze back to spec. We also finish up completing the track adjuster cylinder barrel by welding the cap end onto the new barrel that we machined and honed in part 1.

    Hey viewers thanks for watching today's video Part 2 of the D10 dozer track adjuster job! That silicon bronze wire is certainly different, not something I use too often, could you tell? 😂 But it certainly machines nicely and happy with the end results hope you enjoyed the vid! 😎👍

      Looked like the Silicon Bronze went on well, though obviously it doesn't pay by it's self, may I ask what grade/composition it is?.

      We use Silicon Bronze filler for build ups at work pretty often, what you got there is about as good as it ever goes on unless Tig is employed. We get into a good many ductile iron pistons and SB is the go to for that. Nice job!

    Very nice repair. Your dog must have tough feet. The other day my youngest son was bleeding all over the house. He stepped on a piece of swarf that had come off one of my boots at home. Nasty cut. Ken

    • @CuttingEdgeEngineering
      @CuttingEdgeEngineering  3 года назад +4

      Hey Ken! Yeah it's nasty shit! Some swarf is worse than others. He does have tough paws and usually avoids the worse areas it's the sharp little chip breaker swarf that sometimes get stuck but he lets us know quickly. Hope your sons foot is better now! Have a good weekend mate 😎👍
