The fifteen minutes flew by! This was so calming and relaxing.
I'm so glad!
Very beautiful 😍
Agreed. When it ended I was like "whattt there's no way that was 15 minutes"
@@Artsyanimal same!! Lol
Agreed!!! I felt SO relaxed.
hi! i don't know if anyone will really read this, but i have never felt this way about exercise before. i'm 21, austistic girl with adhd too, and been trying to workout and get a little stronger since probably 11 years old. nothing ever worked for me, and trying to exercise only ever worsened my mental symptoms and overall made me feel like an absolute failure, due to the lack of strength and motor skill problems. but this time the time just flew right by! i am so proud of myself, and fingers crossed i will remember to go back to this workout tomorrow, and then again. thank you so much to the author! every second of this workout i have not felt like a weak, inexperienced klutz, like other workouts here on youtube would make me feel. i felt so supported and valid .... love you all
You are a winner! Keep up the great work, but remember to really enjoy all that you do.
You got this, I’m proud of you too :)
keep up the great work! glad you found something that works well for you!
Proud of u!! 👏 u will find more and more things that work for you dear just stay positive 😊
Absolutely brilliant 👏👏👏👏
I'm in my 70's and just started this. After three weeks I'm finding it absolutely fabulous 👌
I'm in my 80 and starting today after 7 months of illness.
@@WSMWSAW that's just wonderful! May you go from strength to strength 😊
Awesome!! I'm just starting today. I hope you're doing well!
Sue and Jackie so awesome. I will think of you when I want to give up!!
@@WSMWSAW oh wow im 13 and do this but 80?! Thats insane ! Sadly my grandma died at 45… wish she could live that long but whatever
I am 250lbs and this feels wonderful for my body. No stress but still sweat and strengthening. Love it.
Did you lose weight doing this ? I'm wondering if this will help me hit my goals.
I really like that there is no music and you keep your tone mellow and basic, without over-congratulating your audience. Thank you!
I am just now noticing she didn't use music and I've done this the past two days. She really is so calming lol
I know, right?!? I am very surprised as I usually cannot/do not enjoy at all, working out without music. However, I LOVE this!
Thank you that was a awesome morning work out till tomorrow!
Music is usually not well chosen or too loud. I do not like music competing with spoken word, and find it distracting. Thank you for not having music! (People can always play their own music in the background.)
Thank you that was awesome
This made me want to cry after, it was so perfect, I felt stretched and understood and comfortable and worked out. And it’s been a long time so thank you so much for this!
Oh my god I know this was 10 months ago but I understand you so much. For a very long time, I used exercise as a punishment and because I hated the way I looked. It made me hate moving my body because I felt so awful doing it. I didn't feel strong or able, I felt miserable and useless, I felt guilty for not exercising and only saw 'tough' workouts as ones that were 'effective'. I stopped working out for a long while and only went on leisurely walks during that time, but I've recently been getting into beginners yoga and pilates and it's been the best thing. To move my body how it's comfortable, to be told its okay to have breaks, to be told I'm doing a good job :) It's so reparative to understand that exercise is supposed to be enjoyable; it is not a punishment for your body, it's a celebration of what it can do!!
I just completed this and I feel the same way. ❤️
Same here! I feel accomplished and confident. I saw that this comment was 1 year ago. I only started today and I hope that you're still doing pilates and doing great!
@@dreamer12222 Thank you for leaving this comment!! This feels like the path back to treating exercise like self care- not punishment!
Me too. You articulated yourself well and helped me to articulate myself in this journey.
It's been over 2 months i stopped working out because of stress. this 15 min just flew and enjoyed every second of it
I've been doing this exercise almost every day for a year. It was so hard when I started. I'm 60 yrs old and feel better now than the last 30 years.
I never thought I could get my body back in shape. 15 minutes a day ... Thank you, Jessica, Thank so much. ❤ 😅😊😂
This is my first workout since I got COVID 4 months ago . I used to workout daily , but have not been able to do much since my illness . I was able to complete this today . This is BIG and gives me hope .
Another long hauler here! I've been sick for 11 months now. This is my first workout other than gentle stretches (I used to workout every day). It felt good! Now to hope for not having a relapse tomorrow... I hope you are doing great! We can do this!!
From another long-hauler whose been getting much better lately but recently relapsed after working out too hard, this is great news!!
yay go you!!!!
oh I'm a long hauler too, it's my 12 months now. I'm feeling much better unlike before, doing yoga really helps me alot. Wish u a good luck❤️
Same here I’m 33 and had no idea the cv 19 would have a long term effect I have not worked out since my infection in Aug. seeing the “long hauler” comments I’m motivated that my life won’t have to be without at least lite exercises.
many people put on youtube:,, pilates for beginners"and there is so much speed and repetition that i got discouraged to even continue the next day, luckily I have found your videos, thank you
That’s it? That’s literally it?! Just as I think I’m only half way through the work out , it’s already finished!! WOW! I LOVE THIS VIDEO
Im on my 4th yr of college and it has been really stressful. on top of that, the covid 19 scare, and the online set -up meanq im in my room sitting or on my bed all the time. i dont have any energy for jogging or cardios. im just really weak already and been getting sick so much, and all my energy i just put on my studies. when i got sick again (after a week of getting sick), i decided to do pilates again. this was my gym last 2 semesters.
this really felt nice. like i didnt even realize it was 15 mins already. hard workouts make u wish it already ended. anyway, this is my day 1. i hope to do pilates everyday.
thanks!!
hope you’re doing well!
This is my go to whenever I feel anxiety coming on. It really helps to have a quick, low impact way to get blood flowing and to help with breathing. Thanks! :)
You're so welcome!
Starting tomorrow
Never ever been able to actually get through a "beginner pilates" video since I had a knee injury. Being able to complete this one without being in pain has really given me hope
Awesome!! 😊😊
I've literally gone to the doctors because of that popping sound on my hips, every time I do any workouts I hear/feel it. It's not painful or anything but I was concerned and my doctors never had an answer for me and finally this video encouraged me that I just need to do small modifications in order to build strength there first. Thank you!!
I have the same issue and my doctor said that almost 50% of women have a mild case of hip dyplasia including me which might explain the popping
I have it too! I thought I was weird 😅
I have it with my left hip too!
@@sarenaharding I have it in my left hip too! It’s nice to know that hopefully with increased strength it should go away.
I used to also wonder about my right hip popping - never knew why until now. Thank you, I enjoyed this.
This is the first time I’ve ever commented on a RUclips video - I’m making an exception because I’m crying with gratitude. I’ve had chronic hip pain for the past year - it’s affected my quality of life so badly and nothing I’ve been doing (physiotherapy, yoga, acupuncture, walking, heat, pain meds) has made much difference, sometimes even making it worse. My mental health has also taken a nose-dive from being in pain and incapacitated. I’d begun to give up on ever recovering. But for the past couple of weeks I’ve been doing your beginner Pilates workouts and I feel hope again! The strength I’m already feeling in my core is really helping to support my posture and take the pressure out of my hip flexors so that they’re not so strained and tight all the time.
Your positive tone and gentle encouragement also make me feel great about getting out my mat. I’d tried some other Pilates videos and felt like the instructors were working against my body’s limits and reinforcing what i was doing “wrong” instead of celebrating what feels good about connecting with my body. Your videos have the perfect balance of expert knowledge and a warm, compassionate approach - it feels like befriending my body again. I am so inspired to keep going and reclaim my life in an embodied way. Thank you a million times for sharing your talents so generously 🌱
I have a disability that affects my muscle strength and joints, and I have always found exercise to be painful. This was a godsend. I did it! And it didn’t hurt! Thank you so much for making this!
Update: after doing this or one of your other workouts almost every day for a year, my symptoms have improved dramatically! Obviously it's not a cure, but I notice a lot less pain in my back, neck and knees, and fewer migraines. This has really been a godsend, thank you Jessica.
Same here
Ehlers danlos?
Fewer Migraines? Is it really possible😢 encouraging 😊
@@xxaquilaxxI don’t know if it will work for you but for me, I realized a lot of my headaches were coming from problems in my neck. So strengthening those muscles has helped a lot actually
This had my abs burning for about 3 days. I loved it!
i’m currently going through an in person 200 hour yoga certification. i’ve been practicing yoga at home for almost 10 years and found a studio about 2.5 years ago. I’ve never done any strength training so recently I’ve just been feeling like a noodle. I’ve had several friends tell me about Pilates to encourage strengthening mentally and physically. Thank you so much for this gentle practice that I can do even from the comfort of my bed. I’m so humbled to have found a foundation for this (new to me) method of movement. 💚💚💚
My wife recommended this to me after my recovery from a inguinal hernia operation. I've always just been a sit-ups/leg-lifts/crunches guy so I don't think I understood Pilates from afar, but this was so helpful to me, it really helps the parts south of my belly button that were hurt by my procedure. I can't tell you how much of a difference this made to my recovery. Thank you!
I’ve started this a week ago and find it wonderful as a beginner 🙋♀️🇮🇪
Wonderful!
I have scoliosis and as a 16 year old girl who gave up athletics due to pain, I’ve just found your Pilates exercises and they seem to be working great. Thank you so so much x
I had to log into RUclips to comment. I have long covid and have tried to build my stamina up for the past couple years. Would exhaust myself keeping up with gym, Pilates, even yoga was exhausting. It’s gotten to the point that I’ve gained weight and have muscle weakness which led to me falling and injuring my ankle. The point of my comment is to tell you thank you. I have never felt so safe and calm during a workout that actually did burn my muscles. I was able to complete without pausing. You have no idea the confidence you have given me this morning. You were so encouraging and validating about different stamina levels. I am crying. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! I am in terrible shape and I wanted to get better but every "begginer video" was not beginner at all! So thanks :) I will come back to this to get my strenght back
Hello! I’ve been doing your Pilates for Beginners for more than a year now. Just doing this simple pilates I lost 3 lbs.😊 thank you very much!
I'm 40 and finally decided to give this pilates a try, it really is harder than it looks. I'll definitely be doing more of this.
Glad to have you here!
when i tell you i was not expecting my legs to be shaking by the end. This is so easy to follow along as a beginner, thank you for making these.
Dear Jessica, thank you for your work!!!
Your videos have taken my training to a whole new level of understanding and respecting my body. The things that you say, like "the two sides are gonna feel different and it's normal", "don't give up an exercise if it doesn't look exactly as it looks with me", "you never get a medal for finishing a beginner level- we all go forward and back depending on the circumstances"- it is pure gold!
I'm an overachiever and I usually used to push too hard, end with an injury, stop exercising for a couple of months and go all over again. Now that unhealthy loop is over, thanks to you! ❤
This was my first time doing Pilates. This session was amazing! I loved it. It went by so fast, when you finished I was surprised. I feel taller now too 😂 I think Pilates is a new thing to add to my workout schedule
Oh, gosh, this was absolutely perfect for my situation. At the "young" age of 57, I am wrangling with severe, quickly worsening hip arthritis, which is mind-boggling to me; this is a wear-and-tear issue, due to a lifetime of athletics, dance, and physically demanding work. When pandemic entered our world, my gym and its pool closed: Swimming has been my primary exercise, and without it, I felt lost. I revisited Pilates (which I used to teach!), and in searching for good online sources, I found Jessica. Throughout 2020, I have been doing her videos, even as the arthritis continues to become more debilitating and painful: It feels good to build core strength and to reclaim a feeling of length and openness. This newest Level 1 workout is a great way to feel proactive pre-hip replacement, and I imagine that I will use it as part of post-surgery rehab. Thank you so much, more than you can possibly imagine.
Thank you for sharing your story and I truly hope you continue to feel strong and empowered in your body :). Thanks for being here!
That is so awesome Ellen!
Great to hear!
@Im in love with Julius Cesar love your account name ,☺️ I find him also very inspirational
Diet plays a big role in arthritis. Since adopting a whole foods mostly plant based eating plan, mine has vanished.
Don’t know if anyone will read this but, for anyone looking for a solution to working out while ageing This is a GEM!! If it is all I ever do moving forward I know I will not quit, I do it because it makes a difference and because I can do it without causing pain or injuring myself. If I had to go somewhere to do Pilates I know I wouldn’t keep it up. I am a 73 year old female ex trail runner with osteoarthritis, bad cholesterol and arrhythmia. I look strong and fit for my age but have been finding it increasingly difficult to hike because of pain. I am not a fan of the gym. Trainers and physiotherapists I have tried do not have a clue how to tailor treatment to my body. They hurt more than help. This little body workout could not have been more helpful. My hips are gradually loosening up, abs getting stronger and it makes me feel SO GOOD!!!! Thank you Jessica for putting this out into the universe for folks like me. I am so grateful.
First ever try at Pilates and I’m 100% hooked. I felt so calm and understood the entire time, I can’t wait to do more!!
I have only been doing your exercises for 2 days now, and my back feels so much better, and the sciatica is starting to ease.
Love. Love. Love. I still can feel my back injury from 3 years ago and this is an amazing way to get the body moving in the morning/evening without putting too much pressure on the back
Oh my goodness I love your workouts. This morning I took part in your Neck and shoulder video then followed it with the arms. I have been suffering with a the Ulnar and medial nerve causing such pain in my right arm, shoulder and my neck. So much so that I wasn’t getting any sleep unless I sat up with my arm propped up. I saw the physio yesterday and was given some exercises to do to help strengthen the collar bone and ease the pain from the nerves. However, I remembered seeing something about Pilates helping with trapped nerves and strengthening bones.
After doing the first video I was able to turn my neck further and then after the second the pins and needles in my hand stopped. I actually cried with relief. I know it’s not healed but those two videos I will follow for a week and then work towards improving my whole body.
Thank you.
I'm coming back from 2 ankle reconstructions and a few other feet injuries in the course of 2 years. Needless to say, I'm not in as good a shape as I used to be. This is the first workout video I've done (and I have done so so many while recovering) that has left me feeling hopeful as opposed to discouraged and depressed. Thank you, sincerely.
This is finally a Pilates workout that’s explained and full of grace and understanding. It’s more about listening to my body than following a workout. I have hurt myself so many times trying to keep up with videos. Thank you for your content. I’ll be subscribing as soon as I’m done writing my comment. 🥰
So glad to have you!
I'm recovering from my 4th covid infection and my joint pain is beyond words right now, but I could do most of this workout without modification. I haven't been able to keep up with my normal yoga and pilates since I first got covid in 2020. So happy I found this. Thank you for providing something gentle for those of us who need it!
I felt the burn on those leg circles lol great video
For over a year my left leg had experienced pain at the hip joint making it hard to walk, but I kept walking 20 min a day thinking it would help. It only got worse over time. I had to take Advil regularly. Then I changed to this Pilates workout everyday instead of walking and after a week I am completely pain free. I am so grateful.
Wow, this was just right for my first-ever Pilates workout! Also, thanks SO much for having just your nice, helpful voice with no annoying workout music! (Pet peeve, right there haha)
hii ive always struggled so much with working out bc ive always been a plus size person and this was the first pilates class ive done and it was perfect! super relaxing too and it made me feel good about myself, ill definitely do this again! thank u again 💗
came home from 5 month hospital stay 1 month ago from covid. lost 100 lbs. so weak
this looks hard but i will give it a shot. Being on your back for 5 months will do it to anyone.
Thank you, SO MUCH for a pilates workout that doesn't start with the Hundred! That has been a barrier for so long.
I just found your videos and I really like how you explain everything easily and you’re not talking down to beginners. Thank you ❤️
👏👏👍
this was my first Pilates workout ever and all I gotta say is is you made it so much more enjoyable than I've ever found in any beginner or like gentle classes. Thank you so much for making this video. I have had medical issues the past 2 1/2 years that have prevented me from being able to work out and this was the best way to start back up
This is one of the things that my naturopath recommended to make my lower back muscles stronger. I do this as well as walking on a regular bases and also sometimes physio movements and cardio at gym
Dear Jessica, I really hope you see this. The fact that you're a physiotherapist and this isn't a run of the mill workout video shines through. I have adhd and autism traits, all my life I struggled with those fast-paced challenges; the damn burpees, the go go go mania, with dance moves, with anything and everything movement related. All my life I felt like a failure and the pounds kept piling up on me. I've been doing your workout for a week and I couldn't even imagine going to sleep without doing todays workout. Its 4 am here and I just got done. Your gentle, bright, non-invasive and kind energy is so welcoming. I was a little surprised when the workout ended because it went by so quickly. Please keep up the good work and know that you have so many people sending blessings your way.
Doing this workout actually made me physically feel better! It really stretched out my back and helped with pain 😊
“If you get hip popping-“ so far so good.
2 seconds later: POP
right? my legs are tight!
🤣Yep
Great one 5.30 am East African Time..
I am 72 and just needed a little pick-me-up this morning. I enjoyed your class. No music, simple instructions, and great modifications. Thank you.
I just found your channel and I’m never leaving!
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed. Every other “beginners” Pilates workout I’ve tried has really made my back feel strained. I needed a gentle challenge, and this delivered! Thank you!
this is my first time doing pilates and let me tell you how she made it so calming and easy and this is a 17 min video??? UNBELIEVABLE!!
thank you so much for the lack of "demands." I really appreciate how low pressure you made this
So glad I found this video. I've been doing it every morning for a week now and my lower back pain is almost completely gone 😭
Thank you Jessica. I have been inactive for so many years due to a range of physical and mental health issues. My leg muscles are extremely weak and i can't walk long distances. However since starting to follow your exercise tutorials and buying a pilates book. I feel a little fitter and able to move around a little better. I'm definitely going to keep it up. I have a bulged disc so i only do the exercises im able too but it's really helping. 😊
Oh my gosh I needed that. It’s been a decade or more since my last Pilates class and I forgot how much I loved it. Thank you!!❤
I loved it! Exactly what I need - Im begginer/out of shape, with little time and a lot of work in front of the desk/computer. That is perfect!!!!!! Thank you!!!!
This gentle Pilates is an amazing class thank you!
So grateful I found your channel. This workout is exactly what I’ve been looking for. ❤️
So glad!
I find going slow, back to basics and focusing on form is harder and more effective. Thank you, great workout.
Thank you for workout, I like that there was no unnecessary explanations, just what is needed for the exercise!
I've just found you! Really loved doing this and having 15 minutes Me Time. Thank you Jessica!
I love this little 15 minute. I’ve been doing it each day and it’s really helping me stay flexible during lockdown. Thank you.
I'm a nurse and I injured my back in January, (9 months ago) and my Dr suggested Pilates. Thank you for this version that an injured 55yo can do. I'm hoping in time this will help control my pain.
Lovely workout - as a Tai Chi teacher, Pilates is one of a small number of exercise methods that I like my students to cross-train in. It works the body in a safe and holistic way.
I do this workout nearly every day and I feel great every time I finish. A good mixture of gentle but impactful exercises. Thank you Jessica!
I really love how you explain variations and attention to the body.
Thank you!
Thank you so such a simple aloe beginner workout! I’ve been avoiding classes because they tend to move too quickly and I don’t feel I’m really doing the movements properly.
Wow, I was about to move on from this video because I didn't care for the sound quality, but decided to follow through the whole practice. When I did, I realized what a great video you've put out. I was looking to get my strength back after an injury, and this 15 minute beginners pilates fits the bill, perfectly. Thank you for giving me some exercises to follow that will lead me gently back to where I need to be. To heck with the audio.
Thank you so much for your videos!! I haven’t exercised in any form for early 16 years. I’ve recently lost 65lbs but I’m not feeling stronger! I’m still not ready for Zumba or anything like that, so I was doing some online research and Pilates became a theme! I have done several of your videos now and really love them! Thank you so much! 😊
I’m so glad I found your workouts. I did the beginner 1 and 2. I felt my legs for days it’s definitely working.
I work a physical job and this is about the only exercise I can stand to make myself do when I get home and just want to start eating because I am so hungry. LOL I am going to do another 25 min pilates video every morning and this one every night for six weeks and see how I feel at work after that. People in my profession have said pilates did wonders for them, so I'm crossing fingers...
Thank you for this! It’s been over a decade since I’ve done Pilates, and exactly one year since I was involved in a MVA. Perfect pace, perfect stretch. I feel amazing❤
I really enjoyed this! I’ve never tried pilates before and this is the first video I’ve done and really liked it, it was the perfect level for me
So glad!
Comfortable workout, but sometimes challenging. Nice speed to get back into Pilates after a 9 month absence. Great instruction! I will be back!
Great job!
im not someone who ever works out. but lately i was feeling a bit dull and pilates always intrigued me. and i can honestly say clicking on you vid was a very good decision. you are just so lovely and im feeling amazing.
I love how gently She encouraged me to keep going exactly when I needed it
This video and the one devoted to strengthening the lower back have been wonderful for me recovering from an injury!
Just found this today never done Pilates before and after that class I’m hooked thank you ❤️🏴
My kind of workout instructor- no fluff!
This was my VERY first time trying Pilates and it was amazing. I did it after a 3km run and the I got way more burn from this, than my run! Did it with my 11 YO son and we really enjoyed ourselves. Great job!! ♥️
This is great! I have been away from Pilates for a very long time, this is a great re-entry to my practice. Thank you!
So lovely and gentle, exactly what I'm looking for as someone totally new to pilates. Nice to know that this is a level 1 type and will definitly be checking out your pilates foundation videos. Thanks so much
It shocks me at this age how difficult things like this push me. But it feels good to move and stretch. Thank you
Your comments were PERFECT! (Hip popping, what we are stretching, don’t worry about Breath timing…. ) it was like I was in the room with you! LOVED IT
The hip popping comment, right after mine popped bigtime😂😂😂 that impressed me so
So glad I’ve found you Jessica, this is something I can do and feel encouraged to do daily. Thank you 🙏
This was so great! I stopped doing pilates years ago and lost a lot of muscle. This was a nice way to jumpy back in without feeling so weak.
This really really helped me with an injury who didn't want to heal. I am now pain free
Injured runner and complete Pilates novice so thought I’d try this to help my back - absolutely brilliant thank you
Thank you, this was the perfect mini morning workout :)
Thank you for this. I really like how you remind viewers that they can take a rest and give variations. It’s really helpful and welcoming
You are so welcome!
i genuinely didnt realize how much time had passed and then the video ended, she does a good job encouraging us as we work through it.
I thought it will be tough as I had never done exercises like this for 3 years now but it was actually a great start for a pilates journey. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this 'beginner's' workout!
You are welcome!
This was my first time and it was great!! I will be back.
As a rank beginner to pilate and yoga I found this to be an excellent start. Admittedly I am not out of shape at 76 years old. For the past 8 years I have walked and power walked daily 5 miles. However, I feel my body wasn't getting anything more out of just walking. I'm so pleased I found Jessica's pilate for beginners. This will add a wonderful new dimension to my workouts. Thanks
I’ve been doing this for a week now and today was the first time I finished the whole video!! Score!! Thank you 💜
