TOYOTA TRD!! ALL DAY!!! BABY! FORD WONT STAND A CHANCE!! IN THE MIX!! OF OFF ROADING!! 2015 TRD OFF ROAD! HERE 4 INCH SUSP LIFT! 34 KELLEY SAFARI TSR! TIRES! AND SHE IS UNSTOPABLE!! LOCKS FRONT AND REAR! 6SP MANUAL! GO GETCHA SUM! NICE VID!!
So new leaf packs were installed but even with no load they are already flat??? Looks like the right side is already bowing out. Could this be due to the wide angle lens used?
Yes that could be due to the lens or the angle the video was shot at. For several years after this build the suspension was holding up really well and performing great. Haven't seen the truck now for about a year so not sure on its current state.
This may sound like a series of dumb questions but I'm just looking to get into serious off roading and looking to start my first build. I have a few questions I was hoping you could help answer. 1.) ford vs toyota. I know that toyotas are durable and great machines but would you trust a ford in off road situations? why or why not. 2.) is the trd pro package worth it or considering that I will be changing just about everything, I.e suspension, bumper etc. 3.) Locking or limited diff better for offloading? 4.) what engine size is in this machine and what engine size would you recommend? 5.) Turbo/super charger? 6.) mpg on a machine of this type? just curious so I can plan how much extra fuel to bring 7.) ball park estimate on how much something of this variety would cost?
+David Borcean 1)I would go with the Tacoma as she is just about versatile as an older jeep. She is more built than a ford and less likely to break than a ford. No, I would trust a ford in off road situations as many parts tend to go out pretty quickly (kinda like a Chevy). That and the gas motors tend to be utter crap and hard to work on. The only motor that is any good is the Powerstroke ( the Cummins is still top dog). 2) The trd pro package is worth it. the frame is built stronger than a plain Tacoma frame. You want that as there are parts that you maybe able to use. 3) Locking differential. This is coming from a guy who loves old jeeps and has owned a couple. The lockers are a lot better as I have literally broken a standard 4 wheel drive system. The lockers (hence the name) lock directly to the differential unlike a 4 wheel system. 4) This one on here more than likely has the v6 motor. 5) A turbo, gives extra torque for pulling, etc... A super charger would be good if you are doing off road racing or on road racing. 6) The mpg you may have to look up from a stock trd and the off road package should say the amount of mpg gained or losed.
Does the rear bumper with the tire block the stock Toyota Tacoma Back up camera? I would like the add one to my Tacoma but I'm always concerned with losing that camera feature!
+Alec Green we do add a backup camera and wire it into the factory camera so that you can keep that feature. It is easy to do and works with the factory setup so you won't even know the difference. These days with the new vehicles all coming with backup cameras it is almost a standard offering with all rear bumper and swing arm combos. Let us know if you have any questions.
Hi Steve! Yes the Bushmaster 2.0 rear bumper does require cutting as part of the installation. It is a high clearance bumper and that is the reason. Also we do provide supports for the side body panel so that it stays strong and supported once it is cut.
There were no engine mods on this truck at this point. It was all suspension and armor related to this point in this build. Many guys do re-gear the axles and also do some exhaust and cold air intake mods. A good programmer goes a long way as well!
I've scoured the internet trying to find the cap you used to cover the air couplings and struck out. You show it at 9:38 in the video. Can you help me out?
Great question. I'm not sure what they are called either and don't see a name. All I know is we get them through our local hose supply company... Evco House of Hose.
Hi Richard, yes we have tow tested our bumpers. We do not officially rate them due to liability and cost but they are built very well. You will see that they exceed the factory specs in most circumstances and get the added benefit of being built into the bumper structure as well.
Is every led on 40 inch bar on the roof working? Looks like at the end a portion of them on the drivers side weren't turning on or maybe it was just some weird glare or camera issues. Other than that one thing I noticed I love the truck haha
+CBI Offroad Fab the ones on my brothers tacoma the headlight area has 3 black bars that go in front of each headlight as part of the grill guard the go left and right, then another two bigger tubes in front of the grill
+CBI Offroad Fab I wouldn't pay any attention to this guy, he's obviously trolling or an idiot. Guess he didn't spot those hoops that go around the headlight? How much more protection does it need? Anyways, that truck is badass. Well built by CBI. Excellent fabrication and ideas for this Tacoma.
+Todd McDonald Your brother is the only guy in North America running that worthless cheesy looking brush guard. To say that CBI's headlight/grill hoops aren't offering any protection is a joke.
+Due North ok so your driving down a backroad a twig happens to go in between the loops back straight into the headlight. happened to the guys from overland adventure. so with the added protection of 3/4 small metal pieces better protection

Yea awesome. I have 2014 Tacoma. CBI gear looks like the way to go.
Thx

love that Taco..that's how I want my
Any idea where that rear license plate flip kit was purchased?
I'd also like to know where to get flip plate
@@stoneworks2013 I found a bunch on Amazon here: amzn.to/2wnTSvI
this rig is what I model my own tacoma after. I love the set up & accessories looks great!
I think this is one of best tocoma rigs I've ever seen. Great review and build.

Looks like the light bar has its spot beam out on the driver side. Or am I just seeing things?
That is just the angle of the video. All LED's are working properly!
is there any mods to the engine, inside, or just performance related other than suspension?
There were no engine mods on this truck at this point. It was all suspension and armor related to this point in this build. Many guys do re-gear the axles and also do some exhaust and cold air intake mods. A good programmer goes a long way as well!
Beautiful

Hey thanks for the quick response. I have an Evco here in town so I stop by and pick some up! Thanks for your help!
Awesome that is great to hear. You may want to show them the video so they get you the right thing. Good luck!
Thank you! I am sold on the rear bumper! What Viair Kit did you guys use? Great job!
Have you done any testing with towing on the rear bumber ?
Hi Richard, yes we have tow tested our bumpers. We do not officially rate them due to liability and cost but they are built very well. You will see that they exceed the factory specs in most circumstances and get the added benefit of being built into the bumper structure as well.
i notice there is no fuel tank skid plate - other than that, this truck has everything, lol
Great looking Tacoma, everything looks well done. Is there a tow rating on the rear bumper?
great job
with the 33"s..... did you change the ring and pinion? and if so, to??? sweet rig btw-
Awesome rig, I'm sold!!! here hold my beer while I go and buy and lotto ticket.
Where can I get that shackle flip kit?
Is every led on 40 inch bar on the roof working? Looks like at the end a portion of them on the drivers side weren't turning on or maybe it was just some weird glare or camera issues. Other than that one thing I noticed I love the truck haha
Wilson Rich Yes the 40" light bar is working. Just some weight camera angle is all.
Yup, that's a broken section of the LED bar. Damn, a brand new Rigid bar broken!
What would it cost to just do the oba
Amen good job thanks for the idea
Good video! :) thank you
front bumper offers no protect for the headlights or grill from tree branches or any low laying obstical
+Todd McDonald How so Todd? We would be interested to hear why it doesn't offer any protection in your opinion.
+CBI Offroad Fab the ones on my brothers tacoma the headlight area has 3 black bars that go in front of each headlight as part of the grill guard the go left and right, then another two bigger tubes in front of the grill

What's the brand of rock lights installed? Werton or something like that.
Yes those were Wurton but we use a lot of KC rock lights and Baja Design rock lights now.
