    Saw this post yesterday having spent hours trying to work out what the problem was with my E39 air suspension. I'm NOT a mechanic but managed to locate & remove the the solenoids and did exactly what you described - I'm now mobile! Thanks big time

    Just a quick note ,you can fit a landrover discovery 2 solenoid on an Bmw e39 if yours is beyond repair (these are cheaper but are a stronger part ) .

      Hey ,it’s in the boot/trunk under the floor ,take the spare wheel out and you will have a clamshell looking unit ,remove it (think it’s 2 bolts and 2nuts ) this gives you access to the compressor and solenoid for the sls suspension . Hope this helps

      The e61 and x5 are different as they are on the underside of the car .

    Where can you purchase the orange o ring seal?

    • @beamish1066
      @beamish1066  4 года назад

      That a really good question,I know some hardware stores/shops sell boxes of o rings but I will come back later with a better answer .

      @@beamish1066 Mine seems to be leaking from the solenoid so im presuming its just the o ring, does red mean its silicone? will nitrile suffice?

      I tried using Viton as it’s what I had to hand at the time only after I had put it all back together did I notice my housing had a hairline crack in it so that’s when I sourced a 2nd hand landrover unit ,it’s been fine since .

    What is the problem with suspension if solenoids are bad?

    • @beamish1066
      @beamish1066  4 года назад +1

      The seal had a leak on mine so would always sag (even after new sls bags/springs .

      Luka Nađi Mišić , yes it could be the solenoid or pipes (which are also fragile )

      @@beamish1066 piping has been checked so thats ok. I will have to take a look at them. Thank you very much!
