    Why did you choose to use a alternitve bag for the rear? Factory bags fit so good .

    hry bro, nice to see another biarritz blau 540 (although not a 540 anymore in your case lol). I was looking to hijack the sls system & run front bags & aftermarket management but it seems this would be more work than its worth. Im looking at some of these tankless set ups, 7400 included, wondered if you could answer me a question please. Ive watched the airlift video on the 7400, it claims that you can control each spring individually, I see at the end of this video you dropped the front and rear.. How is this possible when theres only two outlets from the manifold? Thats either control of Both rears AND both fronts, or just the control of rear left and rear right, or just the two fronts. im confused!

    great video! from the highest setting how long did it take for it to go down fully? Also vice versa? :) planning to do this on my e39 touring

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад +2

      Its about 60-70 seconds up, and 30-45 seconds down. I chose the 1/4 air line, but you can opt for large lines for faster times. Also the wireless air has a small compressor, this could be upgraded to go up and down faster, but something like an AirLift 3P/3H kit could probably go up/down much faster. Good luck on install!

      @@TheBimmerBarn Thanks for replying. If anything I'll probably get the dual compressors and 5 gallon tank from airtekk just to help with airing up too. You're method right here is one of the best ways to save money on bagging a car. Thanks again

      HEYYY I finally did it! I followed your front and rear bag set up although i went ahead and got the 3p system. So far it's holding well. My only worry is that my rear is like bouncy on humps and rough roads, it's still the stock shocks I'm using. You said you were using bilstein shocks for the rear? How's the ride with it?

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад

      @@joweecabotage1362 Awesome! Yes, used bilsteins in the rear currently, good not great, a little bouncy. Would recommend an adjustable threaded shock in the rear, that should let you dial it in a bit better 👌

    • @joweecabotage1362
      @joweecabotage1362 3 года назад

      @@TheBimmerBarn I guess the rear shock you have is the bilstein b6? If so, those shocks are design for stock height/springs. I did a little bit of research and there's the bilstein b8 which is shorter than the b6, and is designed for those cars with a lowered suspension. But what do you think of this? Also, keeping the convo here so other people who watch you could be helped as well.

  • @Atlentz1
    @Atlentz1 2 года назад

    So did you just connect the rear line to the new setup? Is that how you are able to control both front and rear?

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  2 года назад +1

      This controller has a "left" and "right" air line so I ended up using one circuit for the front suspension, and the other for the rear. In theory this works to balance the pressure between both struts, but doesn't perform well under cornering conditions, as the air can all move to one side. I'd like to upgrade the controller one day but for now it works!

    • @Atlentz1

      @@TheBimmerBarn I see thank you. I checked the link for the suspension but air lift doesn’t provide those any more which is a bummer. I have a 2002 540 wagon and I’d love an air ride setup.

      Yes they're definitely worn out, the best option would be new or having them "turned" by a machine shop. Something I should do soon!

  • @ecavity

    First: Be carefull where your dog hides, when you are operating the car lift. :-)
    Second: Do not remove that bump stop. It is there for a reason. I’m sure the back can go lower, but why would you do that? In fact I think at 50 PSI (or 3,4 bar ) the car is sitting too low at the front. I’m sure thats due to the somewhat shorter the design of these struts the footage at 6:29 kind of shows that. Quite some people like to lower their cars, but they are wrong :-)
    You could have elaborated a bit more on the current driving comfort, compared the situation with springs. Is it really better (Although there is less suspension travel now...)?
    Anyhow I like the way you make video’s, they are good quality, and quite clear and thereby helpfull. Keep up that good work. You do not have many subscribers yet, but that may grow in the future.

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm eager to get more long term ownership experience with these, and I already adjusted the length of the strut to create more clearance at the same pressure. Car sits more more level now. I wish Goose wouldn't climb under the lift it scares me too!

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  Год назад +1

      No, the original will not work with aftermarket air springs, and will not have control over the height. I'd recommend using an aftermarket air management system.

      Love it. Lil bouncy, need to upgrade from my stock rear shocks. Something with adjustable dampening. The air lift controller is still slow, that's also on the list to upgrade. Also, would recommend painting the rear air cup spacers before install, as they don't come sealed and will rust (had to brush mine down and paint them after I saw surface rust appear). Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    did your wagon have the factory air suspension for the rear? because i know on mine they hide the air compressor under a cover that lets you keep the spare tire, might be worth looking into

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад

      Yeah! In the video where we did the rear setup, I had to remove all that junk to make space for my new stuff. It's a good system, but those factory bags are too bouncy when lowered imo

  • @radiocrash

    Will the pump work with the stock rear bags ?

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад +1

      No, you'll need multiple adapters to convert the factory fitting to something that would allow you to use the aftermarket 1/4in NPT air line. The challenging part is that due to the orientation of the factory air line, you'll have some issues with clearance on the adapter fittings, and it really comes out to be more trouble than its worth. Also, the factory line is like 1/8in thick, so air moves very slowly in the system. Would take much longer to go up/down.
