    What wire did you end up tapping into in order to get the compressor to kick on when the key is in the on position?

  • @theandytran_
    @theandytran_ Год назад +1

    Hi! Did you just keep the koni shocks on? Would you be able to run a stock shock too? Worried about the bump stop not letting me air out/not give the suspension enough travel

  • @cjtm95
    @cjtm95 3 года назад

    Any chance of a follow up focused on the buttoning up of the wiring? This is an ingenious solution to the rear of the wagon. Previous owner of my 99 528i Touring put high end adjustable coil overs on all four corners, but ordered too short a set for the rear, so it's show low at max height. Was looking for something like this rather than eBaying OEM style Frankenstein kit. Subbed and hope to see more and a test drive! Would also love to see a possible sound insolation solution to that pump in the spare well!

      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад

      I'll make a follow up for sure! Wiring isn't difficult, whichever air management kit you go with will come with diagrams to follow. This kit only needs a power and ground!

  • @arkkukakku112
    @arkkukakku112 2 года назад

    Should install the new compressor inside the oem compressor dome, it has noise dampening, and you could put the spare wheel there still. That loud compressor would drive me grazy.

      It's actually really quiet with the trunk carpets installed, but you do have a good idea! This is a temp setup, one day we'll do a bigger compressor for faster air up/down. Thanks for watching!

    What rear shocks you running? Are these shorter than standard?

    Wanted to pick your brain. I also have a touring with the same set up as the rear did u notice the rear being extremely rough after the bistein b6’s we’re installed ? And did you remove the bump stop from the shock for maximum travel. I’m not sure if I’m just bottoming out or it’s the subframe bushing’s causing my issue. Thank you

    Quick question. I see how your upper spring just freely moved like that ? How does it mounted to the chassis ??

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад +1

      The nut and washer sandwiches the universal cup kit to the chassis of the car. Once load is applied and it settles, you can torque the assembly in its resting position.

    Why did you choose to go aftermarket ? Factory bags fit so well. Waa it just the dual bellows?

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад +1

      The factory bags are known to fail, so I wanted to use an aftermarket bag that could potentially last longer. Also, I worked up a method to adapt the factory bag to use an aftermarket controller and it wasn't ideal. The bags use such small line that it would take much longer to go full up/down. Hope that answers your question, I'm not against the factory setup! But it just doesn't give you enough control 😉

      Thanks for the reply. I will be buying a h3 system with 3/8th this week. Going with the same cups and bags in the rear / bc fronts. (Getting super close on my build parts list , style 32 20" wheels jusr got dropped off to be refinshed this morning)

    Was it just budget at the the min for this option matey?

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 года назад +1

      It was just the simplest solution, since I rebuild the rear subframe I just wanted to be done with the rear end completely. Will install front bags at some point once the car drives, and then going to go with either a larger compressor and 2-channel manifold, or something with a tank, if it's small enough.

      I'm excited to try it and see what the results are! The car will be more for touring, and won't likely see a track, so I hope it handles comfortably.

      Maybe time for new struts? It's definitely a different ride than steel springs, but you can usually dial it in for better performance/comfort. Good luck with the touring!

      @@TheBimmerBarnmaybe new struts would sort it out. The guy who had it before me replaced the pump recently. It’s odd though it’s like it feels to hard on the rear and too soft up front. Definitely needs looking at.
